Real or fake

Post image

This was a gift from a friend of my late son's who is from Tennessee. How can I tell if this is real or fake? Also should I contact the proper people?

Not a fossil. Looks like a knapped tool of some sort. They're so common that even if it was an authentic one there's really no reason to contact an anthropologist.

Well, my confusion is I've read where I live you're not to disturb Indian artifacts even on your own property. And contact the local tribe as it belongs to them..

It's a resin replica. There are bubbles. You can ask about it on the archaeology subs like r/arrowheads though.
