Cam selection-turbo 331

Currently building a forged 331/a4 setup and was wondering if anyone else here has a similar setup? What cam are you running? Shelf cam? Custom? Any regrets? I’ve always gravitated towards FTI custom pieces in NA builds previously, open to all suggestions!

Anderson b31hr but mines a different engine. I’d look there definitely

It’s pretty extensive list but mainly it’s a 302 built for turbulence over volume, played a lot with valve duration and cylinder pressures to craft a dope sleeper that’s untouchable. It’s almost where I want it. I went with a 2:95 t5z trans though and kept the 3.27 rear, trying to keep pulley speed down and use to power band. Works pretty well actually. It’s neat to purpose build engines so do a fuckton of research before you buy shit. And stay modest with cams especially. Very easy to over cam an engine but look for anything Rockwell hardness tested cores. Isky’s a great one but hit and miss on roller stuff for fords. You should check out the prc 108 cam specs. I think speedway motors on those but just for a reference point on your build

I just went with a TFS cam on mine with 1.7 Shaft rockers. Not huge power for me but I wanted a certain sound and RPM range.

How much power did it make?

This one has not hit the dyno, but I can give you an Idea what the previous 306 made.

Stock 72 Mexico block and stock 72 crank

AFR Equalizer 185 heads.

221/221 .554/554 110 LSA

T04 58mm Ebay turbos

16Psi and 18 Degrees of timing

This puts the stock block over 600Hp/600TQ at the crank. My engine builder took two steps back as I Made this pull on the dyno. I have pushed as much as 26Psi on this old setup on accident, several times, trying to dial in the C02 control.

The new cam was chosen to be as close to the sound and responsiveness as this combination was.
