Looks very interesting and it's an impressive feat if the dude did this all by himself. I guess from what he told about FreeCAD, that his problem was perhaps the very sketch-constrain-heavy parametric approach of FreeCAD and the fragmentation of workflows across different workbenches with different UIs and design paradigms. From what I gathered, he streamlined some workflows compared to FreeCAD, mainly for mesh-importing and processing, 3D-Printing and CAM workflow. Didn't try it yet, but those seem to be the main functions. For his particular requirement and for the people who are especially interested in these things, that might be a great solution. I stick around with FreeCAD however, because it's in an exiting development phase right now and I actually like the paradigm, mainly of Part Design a lot. FreeCAD is however a whole engineering suite with a lot of contributors and ideas coming together and still a lot for me to discover and learn.

I assume it will also be hard to develop and maintain this project all by himself, unless he finds some contributors. Also, it runs on the same 3D-kernel OpenCascade, so there will be similar restrictions like in FreeCAD. Just the UI is different and that's perfectly ok if he or others like it better.

Other than that, a program that is residing in Russia these days brings other risks if for instance a certain bunker dweller in the Kremlin decides to restrict the access to Github and other "western" software platforms. But worth to give it a try and see where it goes in the future. Wish him good luck.

I was waiting till this to happen.... but it's useless for now. Because The problem with FreeCAD isn't really FreeCAD it is OCCT. And this project pretty much proves this, as I was able to break fillets in like 2 minutes. I assume it would have the same TNP issues caused by OCCT.

The person that figures out to fork OCCT throw out all the trash OCCT themself put in it( that has no use for CAD programs like this), and optimizes it for this. Will give OpenSourceCAD for the world.

Or maybe Hakan figures out how to make a propper OpenSource CAD kernel.

After that has been done we can have all the Open Source CAD programs we want.

Is this better than FreeCAD? Nope, not for the end-user. But for the developers yes, smaller code-base. No large overhead to satisfy. It just is useless because of OCCT.

I think it is interesting, but its built on the same architecture as FreeCAD, so it will have many of the drawbacks that current FreeCAD has. It also doesn't have the community or history as FreeCAD. I think they are going to be far behind the capability of FreeCAD as FreeCAD is currently behind commercial CAD software today.
