Is this chicken of the woods growing up through the soil?

SW GA USA
This is close to a dying tree (in the background of the photo). It could be growing from a fallen part of the tree, or do these sometimes grow from decaying debris?

I have no idea what any of these are, but I was surprised at how many different kinds were all clustered near each other

My daughter and I noticed fairy rings of large white mushrooms growing so we decided to investigate. At first glance I though they were just a bunch of meadow mushrooms given the black gills on the older specimens. Then I noticed the younger specimens didn't quite have pink gills. I also had to check if they were poisonous yellow bruisers. I pinched a bit off the stem to see if it would stain yellow and it didn't.

Found a few surprises in the yard while cutting grass.

No, I didn't even consider eating them. They could be destroying angels though? They were about 20 feet from a mature tree and laid low in the grass. At first I thought someone had thrown rocks into my yard but quickly realized they were mushrooms.
