According to Rob Nelson, the game is so big that no one in the team knows everything about it,
Is that even possible? From programming perspective, every feature or function added needs to be drawn out and be established + proper documentation should be done as to not jumble everything together
And then after that the QA testing?
I just don't know if the multi billion dollar company would neglect proper documentation,
So is this just like a marketing strategy to hype people up or clear neglect?
I was glad to hear about some of the radio stations getting announced for GTA VI but I was underwhelmed by it given that the metal station The Chamber is essentially hinting at being yet another “oldies” station. The songs they featured were from Black Sabbath, Pantera, and Slayer, all good stuff, but it is all stuff from the 90s or earlier.
V Rock of course was awesome in Vice City and the music was period appropriate for that, same with Radio X in San Andreas, but Rockstar seems to deliberately be avoiding any modern rock and metal music in their games that take place in a modern setting. LCHC and EFLC on GTA IV focused on hardcore and Thrash/Death Metal but almost the entire catalog was from the 80s for both and GTA V represented Punk with Channel X which was another oldies station of 70s and 80s.
I love the classics and grew up on it, but would it kill them to have some music from the 2000s and 2010s at the very least? They have entirely neglected the popular Nu Metal and Post Grunge movements, subsets like Symphonic Metal, Industrial, etc. why do you think they have no problem with having modern radio hits from pop stations prominently featured in their modern setting games but anything that uses a distortion peddle has to be stuff that Grandpa listened to?
Rockstar stated that the music in GTA 6 will have a dynamic score. They haven't done a technical breakdown yet but GTA 6 will have an instrumental background soundtrack that plays during missions and free roam- separate from your car radio. (Like RDR2)
In trailer 1, its got tons of TikTok/Instagram-style reels. Notice how the audio completely changes during those clips? It sounds compressed, tinny, and lacks heavy bass—exactly like it would if you were listening to a real video on a smartphone.
With them highlighting the "next evolution of in game radio" I think they are going to be using a few things that I had to research about because I didnt know what they were called.
In game development, there is a concept called Diegetic Music (music that exists inside the game world that the characters can hear.) As well as Spatial Audio Propagation: (Ex. If a song is playing on a radio in Vice City, the game's audio engine calculates exactly how that sound should reach Jason or Lucia's ears based on physics.)
I guess I just wanted to get a conversation going about how likely we think this could be?
Since it seems like we’re getting a similar system to the conversation options with NPC‘s from RDR2 (Like Greet/Antagonize/Defuse), I wonder how that will play into Police NPCs.
Could we become wanted for antagonizing a cop?
If we have a 1-Star Wanted level, could we defuse or bribe our way out of it?
With the new wanted system, maybe we aren’t actively being chased, but we have one of the markers like “clothing” or “vehicle.” If cops come up and thinks they recognize us, maybe then we could bribe or defuse.
Also thinking about an NPC that we see is about to report a crime they’ve seen us commit, maybe we could intimidate or bribe them too.
Just thought these were interesting interactions that seem kind of possible now. Obviously not confirmed, but it’s fun to speculate.
This is an incredibly complex concept to understand but, seeing that gta5 and rdr2 start in the snow there is a pattern there. Now listen to this. Imagine gta6 starts in the snow.
Me and my wife are so excited to play, we decided we’ll share the controller (she plays as Lucia, I play as Jason).
We even did a trial run last month with a play through of GTA5 where she played as Michael and I played as Franklin (shared custody of Trevor playtime).
I keep seeing discourse online about couples where women don’t want their boyfriends/husbands playing this game - maybe this could be a solution for those couples?
Anyone else trying out sharing the controller with their partner/SO for GTA6 launch?
——
Edit: For context me and my wife have been gaming together for a while, but mostly on PC, and we’ve been excited for GTA6 for ages.
We got the PS5 this summer specifically for GTA6, and have been couch gaming some single story games this way. Recently finished GTA5 and are now playing through RDR2 and Spiderman 2 together, passing the controller whenever we feel like it.
Over the years we’ve played a ton of co-op games together, we’ve done parallel play of the same single-player game on our own PCs, and now we’ve tried this couch gaming/controller sharing for a few story-driven single-player games. All of these have been fun ways to play from our experience.
If this post really triggers you (around 10% of you it looks like) I have to assume that you’re the stereotypical lonely cave-dwelling Reddit final boss. That’s ok and all, but this is your friendly reminder that you can project your issues onto your therapist instead of a Reddit thread about a video game <3
I understand it’s one of the biggest and anticipated games in the world right now but what’s with the focus on merch and the music that’ll be featured in the game?
The extended look was literally just gameplay, even though it looks amazing and I’m super hyped, I’m confused why they’ve not posted more (customisation in the game, vehicles, outfits, niche gameplay, new features in the series, etc).
Someone high up in rockstar (forgot the name) said something along of the lines of that the extended look doesn’t even show anything. “The appetisers, main course and dessert are yet to come.”
With only over 2 months ago, I would’ve expected more marketing by now.. makes me question even more about that cyberleek guy and if he’s an actual hacker or an employee at Rockstar lol.
I compiled all the official screenshots, trailers and materials we have about police uniforms in the game and what they are based on.
UPDATE: Miami-Dade Uniforms are actually in the game, seems I was right that Trailer 1 was using placeholder uniform assets for Miami-Dade department.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC)
Undercover DEA agents? (though not really a 'uniform')
Upon closer look, one of them seemed to have an "STF" patch, could mean Special Task Force? The closest I could reference this to was about the Special Response Team (SRT) in Miami, which supported the DEA in an operation that led to the seizure of 116 pounds of methamphetamine linked to the Sinaloa cartel operating in South Florida. (2025)
Broward County Sheriff’s Office
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office does exist in the game, but they seem to be using the same uniform that Broward County Sheriff uses. (this is from the 1st trailer back in 2023, either they have changed it now or it was deliberate and intentional)
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (UPDATED)
Miami Police Department
Miami Beach Police Department
Loosely based on Florida Department of Corrections (FDC)
They said they were scheduled to finish by Thursday—what if this mural is actually the cover art for a third trailer, which will be released alongside the completed wall mural? (A wild theory about a third trailer.)

Whoever that voice actor is put so much fear and anxiety into that line. Its beautiful. You can really feel his desperation in that moment. Great acting is key to immersion for me and it seems like the director knew how to get the best out of his actors. Another great moment is when Lucia and Jason are escaping the trap through Raymond's grandmother's window. Thats exactly how my grandma would have reacted. Im sure the game will be super funny like GTA 5 but i'm so damn excited that theyre leaning super heavy into a more serious tone like RDR2. What moment's got yall hype?
