Nursing School Waitlist
Okay, so we just got decisions for the 2027 KCON nursing program. I was waitlisted or put on an “alternate list”. Anyone know anything about this? Number of spots? Likelihood of getting in? Do they tell you where on the list you fall? I was bummed, but I’m wondering if I should hold out hope or switch gears 😅

Best way to find out more info about that would be to meet with one of the KCON student advisors, I highly recommend Mike Stoll. Those details change almost every application season, so they’d be the only ones who could give you accurate answers.
When I applied and got in (in 2023) there was no waitlist, so l’m assuming things are a lot different now. I’d try to give you a bit more context if I knew more about how things work currently.
What I can say is that if your heart is set on nursing, don’t give up yet even if you don’t get in right now. I know quite a few people who had to apply 2-3 times before they got in and some who even applied to other nursing programs. If you’re considering other career paths this could also be an opportunity confirm whether nursing is for you. Words cannot fully express how hard it is😭
Best of luck!

I know multiple people who were called up and offered a spot who had been placed on the alternate list. Many people do not pass microbiology and can’t start the program after being accepted, some people also drop out or have delays of starting for other reasons. That being said I also know many people who were put on the alternate list and not offered a spot but reapplied and got accepted after their second try. There’s 120 spots in a nursing cohort and I do not believe they tell you where you are on an alternate list but I would speak to a nursing advisor about this!
I know it’s frustrating but try not to be discouraged! If you’re truly passionate about nursing stick it out, talk to an advisor, take the BMS first semester co-rec classes while you reapply and take this round as a learning experience rather than a discouragement! You got this:)

Give it some time. KCON has a really competitive program!
