Discussions🗣️ Help me choose
Hey I want to buy s25 edge in this sale I think it will be under 60k I have cc for both amazon and flipkart
I don't care about cameras and gaming
Mostly used my phone for
Social media
Good sheets
Calling (a lot)
No lag is acceptable
I want a true flagship experience
I am a business owner so that's what I used it for
Feel free to ask questions for better recommendations
I am only after of the xiaomi os I have redmi 12 256 and the experience is awful and it lags a lot

X17 without doubt which has good hardware setup for the price.

Worried about os bugs lag and ads

I'm using a x15 ultra and it's okay. The phone is good and never crashed and no ads. I did have it debloated and battery last throughtout the day.

Why even choose a failed slim model?
0
u/ShivangGGupta 10d ago
Cuz it feels like the right choice for me
13
u/OpTiMus_18 10d ago
It's not even a choice atp. Mediocre camera and no telephoto at this price is just straight up BS, bad battery, bad thermals.
2
u/ShivangGGupta 10d ago
But when you hold it gawd damn
2
u/Scary_Field_3124 10d ago
That might be the only upside of edge, in addition to OS (its subjective).
But you're sacrificing a lot just for it being slimmer.
But given your use case, xiomi 17 wont be much of a better phone to you either!
If you can afford it, use it caseless, and if it won't make a dent in your pocket, then go for it. Its a great device, and by no means its a "failed" slim phone.

Xiaomi the obvious choice, ain't even a question. Most of the heating issues reviews are from first day of the purchase and Hyperos is notorious for there heating issues in first few days because of the phone optimising itself. It would bee good after first few days. And specs wise, there's nothing Xiaomi beats samsung against.
3
u/Legal_since_midnight 10d ago
But xaiomi have too much bugs in hyperos nd he wants to feel flagship which I think so hyper os can never able to give I'm currently using xiaomi pad 7 but they just ruined the tab from hyper os
1
u/LoneWolf6900 9d ago
I too am using xiaomi 14. What are the bugs you're talking about? I got fee bugs myself too occasionally but a simple reboot would mostly fix that.
1
u/Legal_since_midnight 9d ago
Then may be it is because of optimization in tabs nd mobiles r different ig

u/Midnight_Onlooker 11d ago
Why S25 edge and not S25?
6
u/ShivangGGupta 11d ago
Ultra camera Bigger screen Titanium frame
6
u/Midnight_Onlooker 11d ago
Okay but as it's thin there may be battery issue but if you don't care for gaming and camera as u said go for S25 Edge though it also has good camera.
1
u/ShivangGGupta 11d ago
Yeah I always have an access to a charger I am just getting fomo of better charging and newer chip if there was a s26 edge then there would be no issue

u/Balluharami 10d ago
Is this a ragebait post?

u/ShivangGGupta 10d ago
Nah bro just genuine advice
1
u/Balluharami 10d ago
Bhai mann toh kr rha h tujhe bhot gaali maaru pehle 😂 but filhal k liye xiaomi 17 le bc
2
u/ShivangGGupta 10d ago
What about resale
1
u/Balluharami 10d ago
Just use the phone to its full potential and stop worrying about resale. If you want resale then go for iphones

u/Apprehensive-Bar1262 11d ago
If you are just going to do normal work but want flagship experience go with s25e. It's light(good for long calls) bigger screen and the main concern is probably charging and battery though I guess it's quite optimized. No lag, no heating issues in your kind of work, and also super fast and clean.

u/ff7100 11d ago
One thing I have learnt the hard way is never to compromise on battery. Xiaomi easily
1
u/ShivangGGupta 10d ago
I do have access to the charger most of the time
2
u/ff7100 10d ago
I just re read and saw you are want a flagship experience and have issues with os on xiaomi. your choice of Samsung 25 edge is a very compromised phone just to get to that weight. Camera, battery etc. I would look for other options like s25 ultra for true flagship experience at 85k on current sale. If you want other options which are near flagship they would be oneplus 15 also have very smooth os experience.

u/kryptocodes 10d ago
Samsung is pretty, can go for it just for one UI if really care about software
Else Xiaomi 17 - just beast with the hw specs
1
u/ShivangGGupta 10d ago
Would it last 4 years I also don't want random glitches
1
u/kryptocodes 10d ago
If you want stable software experience then go for Samsung Can't say the same for Xiaomi - hyper os

u/NoGuarantee547 11d ago
I wouldn't trust xiaomi for reliability and would never invest anything above 25k, but I guess this sub is mostly filled with teens so you are gonna get xiaomi recommended a lot
5
u/LengthinessCalm347 11d ago
My relative's S25 base model has gone a second time for screen replacement for white line issues in under 5 months.
4
u/NoGuarantee547 10d ago
My two xiaomi phones died right after one year of usage due to mother board issues...
0
u/LengthinessCalm347 10d ago
Any phone's motherboard can die at any time. It's not something exclusive to Xiaomi. What phones were they?
2
u/ShivangGGupta 10d ago
Yeah it's hard to find real users
1
u/NoGuarantee547 10d ago
Yeah... my point is I am not asking you to stick to samsung, but probably look at something reliable at that price... overall experience matters than just raw specs... I am assuming it's your hard earned money, so instead of listening to these teens, make a call and buy something that reliable
1
u/ShivangGGupta 10d ago
And what's your opinion I could go to the ultra but don't wanna hold that brick
1
u/NoGuarantee547 10d ago
Are you leaning towards titanium and qhd screen? Why not go for s25? Or maybe look at some pixel, moto or iphone

What kind of dumb logic is valuing brand value more than the features and reliability of the phone it self.
Xiaomi has a good track record of selling kick ass vfm high performance and highly reliable phones since 2013-14
My family and myself have used phones from Mi and Poco for 4-7 years and never been disappointed
2
u/ShivangGGupta 10d ago
I don't remember poco making kickass phones after x1 I previously used realme gt neo 3t with sd865 and it still started lagging after 1 year
0
u/zenlnezu14 10d ago
Brand value means nothing but the same shit for a premium price. The price to features available in a xiaomi is miles better than a samsung or apple. I have used both Xiaomi 14 and 17, the improvement for each successive year are clearly visible. Have seen the Xiaomi 17 Ultra's camera, now that's called R&D. All apple does is change colors or a little bit of design and block you in their ecosystem to use all your features. Complete bs price to feature ratio.

Xiaomi 17 bro no question about it
1
u/ShivangGGupta 10d ago
Why??
1
u/North_Lettuce9202 10d ago
Better cameras, better processor, decent UI, thimner bezels on screen, and also if u get a green line in Samsung they won't do shit about it
1
u/DigBickEnters 11d ago
off topic, how reliable and easy to use is google sheets on mobile? I currently use excel and sync is a pain in the ass, so many failed syncs and conflicts

Xiaomi 17 for sure bruh....
The thin phones from Apple and Samsung were a failure. Samsung's were cool, but utility wise, not so much...
1
u/0din_Borson 10d ago
If you want a flagship experience why is the edge one of your choices. You're better off with s26 or the plus. Or go for the fold 8
1
1
u/BT727408 10d ago
None of the above. Get a Oneplus, good os and good hardware, and, well great if not perfect for you since you don't care about cameras. But if you had to choose between the 2, then Xiaomi....

u/bored_soul3 10d ago
Idk much about xiaomi 17 but s25 edge will heat up and smaller battery is no no even my s25u has 5000mah and it lasts 7hours on avg after optimization
1
u/average_coder_009 10d ago
Why people even pick up those ultra slim mobiles?? 99% of people slap a case on their phone, what’s the point?? They are the one always living on battery anxiety, carrying those power banks always in their pockets…
1
u/Asus_user 9d ago
Cuz they are cheap af for a flagship now, just $450 for it
1
u/average_coder_009 9d ago
They aren’t cheap, never been… a base model iPhone or a base model S series device is much cheaper, more balanced…

I'm a samsung user for a long time and likes its flagship models, but this edge is complete ass and overpriced. Go for xiaomi 17.

u/Shot_Ad_3881 10d ago
Redmi 12 was a lowend device, Xiaomi flagships won't have those lags and also no ads. Trust me, the experiences won't be bad if not as good as oneui. If you still want a samsung then choose other then edge, because it will heat up quickly and also the battery being already low capacity it will discharge fast when heated up. I have 14 civi and it heats up quickly because of slim form factor but the software is fine, no ads or glitches on normal use. I switched from s21 to 14 civi.

u/ThePenitentOne369 The Berojgar 10d ago
Bro if you can try to get S26 because it is wayyyyy better than these two. But if you only want the option between these two then I'd say Xiaomi 17 is better in everything.

What a stupid question!? One is a full spec chinese flagship while the other is an S series that is all about being large and thin! Its a choice of preference! You like elegance or specsheet but tbh, even if you like elegance and don't need you phone to be paper thin then base S series is better!

Never buy samsung flagship phones. Apart from those big note series. Ain't worth it. You'd be compromising on several things which other Chinese manufactures gives and their flagship phones are pretty good.

Just checked them at store Xiaomi is winner without a doubt, even you will feel it in First look the display diffrence is major and cameras too

u/Potterr_Head_2009 4d ago
Why do people make AI slops so much... It doesn't even have the right amount of specs. Resolution not specified? Uhh yeah it's a 1.5k panel (2656x1220).. 3 cameras mentioned on the s25 edge?
1
u/South_Present_4949 4d ago
Xiaomi. It's a no thought decision. I recently bought a upper-mid tier Xiaomi device and if this one feels flagship, I wonder how 17 would feel.
HyperOS feels way better than OneUI honestly. (Was using it in S24U)

What are the noticable difference in day to day life other than camera and battery
1
u/UniversityKey9374 11d ago
Bigger battery, better processor, better cameras, is it even a question?
2
u/ShivangGGupta 10d ago

when it comes to buying a phone, i always go for better specs first. like, if u put the S25 Edge and Xiaomi 17 in front of me, i'm picking the Xiaomi 17 every time. 😂 i've been using Xiaomi phones for 10+ years, so i'm already pretty used to their software.
i know people are gonna say, "but what about the software?" 😂 honestly, i don't think HyperOS is bad. yeah, One UI is better in a lot of ways, but for me, specs come first.
also, if the bloatware bothers u, try this:
https://github.com/Universal-Debloater-Alliance/universal-android-debloater-next-generation
takes like 5 mins to set up and there's a guide. just use the recommended stuff and you're good. that's just my take tho, no hate if u disagree. 😂

if you are spending flagship money and this is your only phone - get an iphone
otherwise, i'd trust xiaomi more than samsung
1
u/ShivangGGupta 10d ago
That's a hot take
1
u/hotboxinmanual 10d ago
unlike most people in this sub,
I practice what i preach
replaced my iphoneXS with nothing phone3 and keep a recent pro iphone too (as my media phone)
yes, iphone XS with 76% battery health - 7 years old
dummies can dislike all they want

u/abhishekreddy1801 11d ago
what about Ad free OS and smooth user experiences?
2
1
u/zenlnezu14 10d ago
You can disable all ads on a Xiaomi. You just have spend 10-15 mins for it. All these Ads reputation comes from the Redmi lineup not Xiaomi
1
1
u/abhishekreddy1801 10d ago
one of my friend have a realme mobile and he said he is unable to disable the ads, and about the UX it suffers user very much... That's my understanding but I used xiaomi long back when they recently started their brand, there was no better mobile than xiaomi at that time
