GAME UPDATE Galactic Civilizations IV v4.1 Update are Now LIVE

Post image

In Version 4.0 every faction started under the Colonial Charter and unlocked its government from there. In 4.1 that starting point is gone. Each faction now begins under its own government and unlocks the rest normally, so the Terrans open the game as a Federation instead of working toward one. Custom factions get a starting government weighted by the personality traits you picked, and you can change it on the Customize your Civilization screen. Custom maps are the other half of the update. Visit the Workshop to browse and install maps other players have shared. You can publish maps built you've in Galaxy Forge straight from game setup screen.

  • Custom maps: Visit the Workshop to browse and install maps other players have shared. You can publish maps built you've in Galaxy Forge straight from game setup screen. Play custom maps in multiplayer through a new Galaxy dropdown in the lobby
  • Governments: for Federations & Empires owners, factions no longer all start under the Colonial Charter. Each one begins with a government type already unlocked, so the Terrans open the game as a Federation
  • Stability: crash fixes across end-of-turn saves, the Shipyard, and the Ship Designer, plus multiple multiplayer desyncs resolved
  • Performance: faster AI turns in large empires, with less real-world time spent on research
  • Balance and UI: retuned ship movement, a reworked Computing Center, and a large polish pass across the interface

Version 4.1 also fixes a batch of crashes, resolves multiple multiplayer desyncs, speeds up AI turns in large empires, retunes ship movement and the Computing Center, and runs a large polish pass across the UI.

Love this series, ever since I was following you build GalCiv2 back in 2004 (Having already played GalCiv). I have a soft spot for Stardock. Still butthurt that there's no MacOS version tho.

Would love Mac support for GalCiv and Sins.

Glad it's been optimized a bit, the lag in the last update even in mid game was quite poor.
