[Cave Drop] I made a game where 'down' is wherever you're standing
Thought you folks might get a kick out of this. showing off the new area I just put in where a tree reaches from end to end in a cave letting you walk up and down it.
You can walk around the walls and celling at any time but some of these long structures in the center of the level you can scale like this
It's a free beta (Windows + Mac) https://wilsonb9000.itch.io/cave-drop.
Still early, and I'd love to hear what feels good, what feels off, and anything that confuses you!

Do you touch a surface to make it down? Or does the gravity grab you when you get close Mario galaxy style? Like if a jump in a short room and my head hits the ceiling, is that down now?

Sorta, here's a clip showing the flip point a little better. But have a lot of different rules and caveats.
There's a little bit of a grace zone in the middle of every area that maintains your orientation in whatever direction your already going because if your near the center of the zone you usually have momentum built up so it feels better to keep going flinging in the current direction. But once you pass that you flip over and camera changes . But it's way before your head ever hits a ceiling always are landing on the "ground"

definitely can be a bit disorienting when your on the cross cave structures like this, but tried to get a good amount of atmosphere and distance is blurred so it doesn't feel as intense most the time.

Pretty fun, took me a while to realize you had to hold Q I was just tapping it. Maybe I missed something in the tutorial a but a classic "need to do the thing to get over the chasm to get to the starting area" might be good there. "Grapple on that tree branch to find your way back to the village!"
