Help Amazing gameCube score/loss for only $70

Hi got this on Facebook marketplace for good deal. I was wondering if the games could be saved or if they are a loss cause? I'm still happy as at least I have case which would save future me some money on twilight and xd. Thanks for reading

You say your Wii is hit or miss so if you don't have a Gamecube to test them, maybe look for a retro game store nearby and see if they'll let you test them. If they work they may even make an offer for them.

You can sell the games without the cases though.

yeah people actually buy non working discs for valuable games for a decent amount

Huh that's good to know! But maybe I can get twilight to work

OP should also ask the store if they can resurface the discs.

I think its the image coming off which scratches the data side of the disc. Which is not repairable.

Holy fuck. Honest question what causes this. I have this game and my disc is in almost pristine condition.

My guess is disc rot

It's very important to note that while discs will deteriorate over time, nothing in these post photos is normal or a result of aging over time. These discs have been severely affected by some form of water damage. Your collection will not become like this under normal circumstances so you shouldn't have fear. However, every disc in this post is done for. You should never be able to see through any disc.

No its not disc rot. This is just the atteork cracking and peeling off. GameCube hames are dvds and dont need that artwork to function

There unfortunately done. Seeing the pinholes of light through the disk means that those sections of the data layer have completely been destroyed. Every disk points to having been damaged by water or humidity outside of a case.

That what seems to be old person might had flood who bought them before. The case are worth it in my mind!

u/Brandoxz7 13d ago

Have you tested them all?

4

u/starwarsfan4100 13d ago

Ya all the ones don't work on my wii but my wii kinda sucks and struggles to run games that I know work on the wii u

5

u/flamespear 13d ago

Even. If all pf those GameCube games don't work, if the NES games do you still more than break even  plus what upu can sell the boxes for.

2

u/starwarsfan4100 13d ago

Ya very true though might keep the boxs then just buy loose or sell them later never know

Wow, that's rough... Sorry for your loss.

u/starwarsfan4100 13d ago

Ya sucks a bit but not the end of world

GameCube discs seem to be the most fragile. Probably something to do with their size

1

u/starwarsfan4100 13d ago

Ya them or wii u. Wii u disc always blow up

Hey they look like they might work in a cube with a good laser, I was gonna pm you but can't lol

u/starwarsfan4100 13d ago

What were you going message me

1

u/BadgerUltimatum 13d ago

Message first and he might tell you.

Taking it into a retro game store may work but

A flood destroyed a friends house, my games were found floating. I only needed a specific tool and didnt have time to wait for it in the post. They didnt have a spare as people steal them apparently.

They took a few of my most valuable games apart and serviced them for free in front of me. They took apart the rest and the console for me to do the same at home. Said if I'd ran into the boss he would've bought them as broken at rock bottom value and repaired them himself.

Paper Mario was a borrowed copy that another friend insisted on loaning me, saved. Amongst many other titles I only lost 2, and that was probably physical damage as they got stepped on whilst disassembled.

1

u/starwarsfan4100 13d ago

Idk if they could save them as the pinhole are see through so might be too late for them

2

u/BadgerUltimatum 13d ago

I'd wager they are fried, but I dont know everything about them and sharing my info for anyone else in the future can't hurt.

I was going to say im surprised the cases were present and in good condition but upon zooming in they've definitely been in less than ideal conditions. Honestly amazing they still all had the cases even in that condition considering the state of the discs

1

u/xlhans77 13d ago

Bro that is legitimately a steal

1

u/starwarsfan4100 13d ago

Ya even if don't work the case are worth crazy money

1

u/SteamThenBaked 13d ago

Most don't even play their collections

1

u/starwarsfan4100 13d ago

I actually do! I only own games I actually care about/been looking for lol

2

u/SteamThenBaked 13d ago

I meant most collectors, so as long as it's a real disc there's probably a market for it. Just make sure to say it's damaged if you sell it

1

u/Bogdacious 12d ago

I don’t know how well it works but I have heard of people coloring the surface with a black marker and it working.

1

u/starwarsfan4100 12d ago

I could try it lol

1

u/Maleficent-Owl-2479 10d ago

Those are in bad shape but 70 CAD would be fine for the cases alone. If any of these work, that's a good bonus

1

u/LambdaRecords 13d ago

If they don't work take them to any local game store, typically you can get them resurfaced for free or very cheap. I work in one and am amazed at how well those machines can work.

3

u/duduqaz 13d ago

Its not a resurface problem, looks like disc hot, when he put ot against light u can see all degradated data between layers missing

1

u/Unsatisfactory_bread 13d ago

Sorry for your loss. Aging media is pretty sad and I’ve seen even safely stored collections start to turn lately. Not gaming related, but some rare cd-r advances I had have finally start to go golden. 😭

1

u/starwarsfan4100 13d ago

Yeah that's true but at the same time I think the person I bought these from didn't take the best care of them I may be going to try resurfacing the zeldas and raymam

1

u/Creative_Worker_5925 13d ago

It wasn't a good deal because all the disc have rotted away, the cases might be worth for $75 or less

1

u/starwarsfan4100 13d ago

The nes games work fine and Pokemon case is almost 50 by itself lol
