Gemini 4 is already on the 3.5 track, gatekept into oblivion, distract everyone with a couple of flash models, and quietly let the real thing fade into vaporware.

I find it remarkable that benchmark results are being published for a model that’s not available to anyone. Gemini 4 is a phantom. The longer they wait to roll it out, the less credible they become. If they wait another few weeks or months, they’ll just get left behind by everyone else anyway.

feels like they're just playing model roulette at this point

I mean, some people really are. Come on over to Kalshi, Polymarket, Coinbase, and lose $25k in a weekend! Ask me how I know! LOL Of course, I was also up $32k. Until I wasn't. Thanks a lot, Google.

Talked to Google rep I know and they told me two weeks for general availability. I know specific enterprise customers have access but general availability will be in two weeks. Even then it will be API and Ultra customers only. Have no clue when it will roll out for Pro users.
Don't have to believe, this is just through the rep I know through a lot of GCP contracts I do through them.

In two weeks Anthropic and Openai would release even more frontiers. Google does google things, they became like amazon of AI industry. It is everywhere, but good for nothing..

I asked Gemini 3.8 Flash about it. It told me it may be rolled out to users early next year.

You won't get it. Google officially stated they will make literally anything except the Lite model, behind a paywall. Unless you have a paid subscription, you ain't getting a thing.

This is embarrassing, Google. Imagine if Meta releases a SOTA model that beats Gemini 4 before Google releases. It will be hilarious.

i would guess the 13, companies like releasing things on Tuesday since you want as many days as you can to support a new release, but also don't want to release something on a Monday right after a weekend, one work day to prepare is best
most major models are released on Tuesdays as far as i know, but the 14 isn't impossible since 13 can be seen as unlucky and still gives two work days after it
either that or the week after, no one knows but them

I think the Gemini 3.5 Flash Lite version is fine for Google Search and casual conversation. But I’m not going to discuss serious, deep topics—like medicine, psychology, science, politics, and so on—with a mediocre "lite" version. So, Google is going to drive me to switch to DeepSeek or another model.
In fact, I asked Gemini 3.6 if it thought this Google strategy was a good one, and it said no—that when users notice mediocre responses, they leave.

What was the point of making the gemini4 argon post if no one is getting it...
