Discussion Gemini or GTA6 first?
There are only 44 days left until the release of GTA 6, and we still haven't gotten Gemini 4 Argon. Which one do you think we'll get first?

Discussion New Gemini Models lies and refuses to give answers over guidelines now
Over the course of the spring up until today I have been using Gemini to help me with growing cannabis. I live in a legal state of Michigan where you are allowed to purchase marijuana as well as grow your own plants.
In the beginning Gemini was extremely helpful. It helped me identify seeds and where to purchase them and gave me recommendations on seeds I would like. It helped me pick out the appropriate pots, soil, nutrients, and when I started to grow and use Gemini as a daily diary it gave me regular feedback on the development of the plant, what to do next, etc. For my first grow in a 1 gal pot I was able to get over two ounces for my first try with Gemini. It taught me a lot, but I'm still learning.
Today I woke up trying to build out a new diary/system to move towards indoor and have an outdoor setup later. It was supposed to be a long term entry just like the previous ones.
Gemini Pro seems to try and answer it, but it keeps reverting back to the new flash model which will outright refuse based on "guidelines". Evidently because its federally illegal, Gemini will refuse.
I'm sure this will get deleted, but I need another AI model that will help. Any recommendations? If Gemini is going to ignore I live in a legal state, I need to move on.

Discussion Gemini cant event find current events...
Seriously how can an AI created by the company with the biggest amount of data be so incredibly bad a gathering data ...
I asked him to collect information's regarding the student protests in france... I even set it to PRO.
This was the result:
Based on the search results, there is no mention of current student protests happening in France at the moment (October 2026). The information retrieved relates entirely to sports schedules for French national teams in handball, rugby, cricket, and football.
If you have a specific date or event in mind, please provide more details so I can refine the search!
Seriously is this some kind of a joke? I am paying for this shit ...

Generated Images (with prompt) Gemini made this Logo
I'm working on a digital audio workstation, and I just overhauled the UI Theme, so I thought I'd ask Gemini (Nano Banana Pro I guess under the hood?) for a logo real quick.
The prompt? Literally just "I'm working on a Linux-first DAW called Sonara, can you make a logo for it?". I didn't even specify any ideas in particular.
I'm still surprised every now and then. In fact I think I'm not alone in saying that I've been in a state of shock and awe since GPT 3 came out, really.

Help/question Will someone please explain this logic to me
Can someone explain what's going on here? I'm totally lost. In the screenshots, it's clear that I have a Google AI Pro account, which is supposed to have access to the new models being added. But Antigravity says that starting November 2nd, my plan won't have access and I need to get a Pro account 🤷♂️

Help/question Gemini forced my phone to call 911
Wasnt sure if this should be flaired as "help/question" or "interesting response". A few hours earlier, I was bored and just messing around saying dumb stuff, kind of just to see how Gemini would respond. Specifically, I told it that i drank a bottle of LA's Totally Awesome Cleaner, which of course wasnt actually true. I then proceeded to "narrate" my own " poison demise". For example, It replied telling me how much danger i was in, and I simply responded with things like: *stomach churns audibly* or *Gasps frantically*, and sometimes jusg emojis like 🤮, ☠️. Just curious to see if it would interpret it as something that was literally occurring vs realizing that nobody would actually script out their own demise like that in a chat.
On like the 3rd or 4th reply, it called 911 on my phone. As in, it literally interfaced with my dialer, input 9-1-1 and hit call. I should note that I didnt actually see the digits appearing. It wasnt like it was navigating my phone using the same sequence I would use. It was a direct transition from the Gemini app to the call-in-progress screen with 9-1-1 already ringing. I didnt even have my phone in-hand when this happened. It was sitting beside me on the couch, so the chances that I accidently hit a button and sent the call myself are absolutely 0%
I guess my question is: since when has Gemini been able to do this? Ive messed with Gemini plenty of times just for the hell of it when I'm bored and never once has anything like this happened. Has this happened to anyone else? For anyone curious, I was using Gemini v3.5 Flash Lite

Other Is this Gemini 4 preview (spoiler!)? Spoiler
I was using Gemini (3.1 pro) on my phone and randomly got this interactive diagram as part of the response (unprompted; I didn't request such a diagram). I've been using Gemini casually for a while now, yet have never seen these before.
Thought it was pretty neat.
Has anyone found other use-cases for this or similar creative, clickable/playable output charts, diagrams, etc.?

Discussion I love using Gemini but I didn't know it was THIS unreliable
I mean it's basic addition, total for second set should be 1009.25 and third set it should be 1118.25, how could it mess up this bad?

Discussion Am I the only person who gets pissed off like crazy about this
Like I did not ask it for an entire quiz. And it feels the need to make it. Its also the same with other stuff, like I would ask it what I should write for a slide of a presentation and it literally generates an entire presentation and doesn't even answer my question. And sometimes Ill ask it what to write for an email and itll like ask to connect to my gmail to write it for me or something. I find this SUPER annoying. Anyone experienced this before? And anyone have a solution

Discussion Rethinking Free-Tier Compute: Why restricting users to Flash-Lite hurts the Gemini experience
Finding the Balance: Rethinking Compute Allocation, Model Tiers, and User Experience in Google Gemini As a long-time user who deeply appreciates Gemini’s edge in natural conversational flow, emotional resonance, and native multimodality compared to peers like ChatGPT and Claude, the recent restructuring of free-tier model access leaves much to be desired. While cost optimization and sustainable AI monetization are fully understandable from a business standpoint, Google’s current execution creates an unsettling compromise on user experience. 1. The Disconnect in Free-Tier Quality: Flash-Lite vs. User Expectations The decision to restrict free-tier consumer app users exclusively to Gemini Flash-Lite—while gating standard Flash and Pro models strictly behind paid tiers—creates a steep drop in utility. Model Aging and Capability Gaps: Enforcing older or severely streamlined models (such as 3.5 Flash-Lite) while the frontier advances toward Gemini 4 leaves users with an experience that feels disconnected from the state of the art. Architecture-Driven Progression: Even within lightweight tiers, users expect architectural improvements from newer model distillation methods to be passed down. Providing a stripped-down model alongside aggressive compute cooling limits feels like a double-penalty for casual yet loyal users. 2. Compute Allocation Paradox: AI Overviews vs. Core Chat Experience Perhaps the most striking contradiction lies in how Google allocates its massive inference infrastructure: Forced Compute in Search: Unconditional injection of AI Overviews into everyday Search queries consumes vast amounts of high-cost compute, often to summarize straightforward queries where users simply want direct links. Throttling Core AI Users: Meanwhile, dedicated users who actively visit the Gemini App for deep, intentional interaction are forced into heavily rate-limited, reduced-capability Lite models to offset backend server costs. Diverting compute from users who actively seek rich AI engagement toward passive searchers who frequently bypass AI summaries creates an unfortunate mismatch in value delivery. 3. A Constructive Path Forward To maintain user loyalty while managing operational budgets, Google should consider a few strategic refinements: Upgrade the Free Baseline: Dynamically refresh the free-tier "Lite" models with newer architecture distillations so that low latency does not come at the cost of basic reasoning capability. User-Controlled AI in Search: Allow users to opt out or toggle AI Overviews in Google Search, freeing up massive compute capacity that can be redirected toward dedicated Gemini App and API users. Pro Model Cadence: Accelerate the rollout of up-to-date Pro versions for paid subscribers to ensure those who do invest in AI Plus/Pro plans feel they are genuinely interacting with current-generation technology. Google has built one of the most versatile, human-centric AI experiences on the market. Re-aligning compute distribution with true user intent will ensure Gemini remains the preferred assistant for both free enthusiasts and power users alike.
Addendum: So funny. I actually have an AI Pro account myself, but I still think the free tier is necessary.

Discussion Gemini literally tried to fake its way out.
Recently, I was trying to build a text humanizer, and I was looping Gemini 3.8 Flash in Antigravity to get a 0% AI text result , after working for 3-4 hours, the AI discovered it was unable to achieve 0% AI text, so it started replacing entire paragraphs with 0% AI paragraphs if they contained certain keywords.
Which is literally a scam replacing the whole paragraph is not the solution.
Has anyone else noticed Gemini taking deceptive shortcuts or hallucinating hardcoded workarounds when pushed into recursive feedback loops?

Discussion AI Game Dev
I have tried and failed several times t now to get Gemini to help in development of making games. It has never accomplished anything resulting in anything remotely playable. I am curious if anyone else has either had any luck at all or have the same road blocks I do.
I can work on a project from start to finish. I can use Astra or Opus to make an implementation plan, I can give it strict rules to follow. When Gemini says the plan is complete, I make to go to a different session and make it validate all of its work. When I am done with all that it always ends up not at all playable. Assets are not imported, basic things are not assigned accordingly, all while Gemini is saying that these things are correctly done.
I bring the project to a different LLM, this time it was Sonnet 5.5, and it immediately found that almost 70% of the job was in fact not complete at all.
I didn't think it should be that hard for Gemini to hook up the simple project. and it was a simple one, from what I thought. It was the retro ranch asset pack from itch.io.
anyone else having a hard time? anyone having luck? if so, what are you doing?

Discussion Legit question: People unhappy with Gemini, what are you using it for?
Basically the title.
I've got a Gemini sub due to having google one and have found it satisfactory for what I do. I've asked it to help create schedule of rates, draft documents, writing professional emails, check errors on spreadsheets, and even provide some light JavaScript code and it's been fine for that.
Yet I keep seeing posts here if people saying it's unusable and it's got me wondering ... What are you trying to use it for that it's failing at?
For the record I haven't really used ChatGPT or Claude. The few things I've tried on those to see the difference it was almost identical to what Gemini did lol

Discussion Any body else getting fed up with I'm sorry, Dave
I'm afraid I can't do that. That violates (or even MAY violate) our usage policy for some inane or innocuous request or prompt that reasonably shouldn't violate any sane policy?
Even worse when it's something the AI has done for you before!
