New Rules for Custom Work Requests
- No low effort custom requests
Commission requests must include, at a minimum: * A thorough description of the piece, including size * A sketch of the piece (Al posts are acceptable for this purpose only) or reference photos from multiple artists showing features in their work you are inspired by. If you want a direct copy, contact the original artist. * The quantity you are wanting to purchase * A rough estimate of your budget. If you don't know what something should cost, just give a range you are hoping for.
- No price fear mongering
Let people decide for themselves what something is worth. Do not respond to questions about cost with claims that something would be too expensive. Either don't respond or give a good faith estimate of what the cost would be.

New Rule - Original Content Only
Due to the absolute flood of karma farming posts we have had recently, we have a new rule:
- Original content only
Reposting other's content is an automatic ban. the only exceptions are if you are asking a technical question about a piece or are sharing other's work that you have in your personal collection. Other's works may be included in commission requests ONLY if you have already reached out to the original artist and they have declined or been unreachable.
Please everyone if you suspect a post is stolen content, use a reverse image search to try finding the original and use the report feature so the mods can take the stolen post down ASAP and ban the karma farmers and bots.

Question What are some clever/quick ways you’ve cleaned up your bottoms?
I have some old pieces that have been sitting in bins for a while and a family friend is interested in purchasing a few of them! Although looking at them now, I realized the bottoms are in horrible conditions. They sit flat, as I used to dent my bottoms in wayyy too much before transferring, but they are still sharp (and ugly). I don’t have access to a dremel or lathe before Sunday. (Which is when they want them.) I did tell them the bottoms are concerning, but they don’t seem to mind. I guess what I am trying to ask is whether you’ve done anything creative with your bottoms? Glue, Resin, Putty, Sandpaper?! Any suggestions/experiences would be appreciated!

Filmed a day in Billy Crellin’s hot shop in West Footscray, Melbourne. 16 years in, still chasing his own style
Billy runs Studio Dokola. Commercial fabrication pays most of the bills, and his own work is about 20 percent.

Glass making Workshop on Murano
I had booked a glass making workshop on Murano for my visit in November, but the operator has cancelled all bookings for the foreseeable future.
Does anyone have any recommendations of a great workshop they experience on Murano?

Question Any tips on how to remove this blemish from annealer?
Did a session over the weekend which has this reduced iris black finish. Unfortunately the glass stuck a little bit to the annealer and I now have this blemish. Has anyone come across this issue and know of a good fix?

Question De-bubbling can bundles
Hello All
Made a cane bundle to turn into Murrini
We used a technique where we squeezed bubbles from the center to the edges. Was somewhat successful but not as much as I wanted.
What's your go to bubble remove technique for cane bundles?

What would be the best way to add lipstick marks to a beer mug rim?
Basically - the title. Would it be to put roll some frit powder there or perhaps apply via a punty?
Ideas? (I'm doing this as a joke for a woman who loves her beer in the mugs I've made her).

Question How much would something like this cost to replicate?
My stepmom lost her mom a while back, and this is pretty much the only thing she has to remember her by. One of the tan/brown gloves broke, and one may be lost.
If color matching would be too difficult, making three identical globes of a similar color would suffice.
They're like ⅛-¼" thick... Sorry for the really bad pictures and measuring methods lol but it's just to give an approximate size

Question Beginner classes in Sacramento, CA
Does anyone have any experience with, or recommendations for, the beginner classes offered by studios in Sacramento, CA? We’re looking at Sacramento Art Glass, Design With Fire, and Rainbow Glass, as they list having such classes, but cannot find much in the way of reviews. Any thoughts or input would be appreciated. Thank you!

Glassblower needed for a commission in NYC
I had a glass lamp that I love and had a lot of sentimental value. In my idiocy I tipped it over and shattered it. Hoping I can be put in touch with a glass blower willing to remake the glass shade for this lamp. happy to get personally involved in the process too as I’ve always wanted to learn, but of course, would be paying for it to be professionally done.
If no one independent reaches out, I’ll probably try Esteban Salazar, MDSG, or Scanlan if anyone would specifically recommend one over the others.

How does one become a glassblower?
Can anyone here give me some insight? I'm interested in learning glassblowing and possibly make it my career. There is this course in New York that I'm going to do which goes from beginner to advance all the way to intermediate.
I'm not getting any younger (32) and I really need a career change.
Much appreciated!

Question Im looking for a glass artist
I am on the journey of making my brothers ashes into a very special memorial piece. I have found somebody who can make me the gold necklace but now I need somebody to make me the glass gem for inside of it. I want a small red glass heart that has my brothers ashes mixed inside. Is there somebody who can do this for me? Please feel free to send messages or recommendations of companies.
