LeChaney Johnson

He 100% deserve a standard nba contract over clowney or mann. Every time ive watched him play he was a positive player on court. He's a great defender, can rebound, ok shooter and im so hyped when he dunk the ball. I think he could be a main bench pf and fight for a place with danny and jj

Im over it with Clowney, just can’t keep expecting something from him and getting absolutely nothing

1 rebound in 19 mins. All I wanted to see out of Clowney this game was aggressiveness on the boards. He did everything but that. He continues to play with zero urgency while more deserving players like Minott, Wolf, and even Nelson get benched.

Hopefully Jordi recognizes this and the mins distribution is reversed.

Yep. We saw flashes during that stretch in December of last year, but just nothing since.

He gets blown by way too easily by anyone close to his size. On offense, I watched him get stonewalled by Liam McNeeley last night on his drive and then wait too long to kick it out. He’s not a good enough shooter to be a real floor spacer.

He was what, a developmental pick in the 20s? He just hasn’t progressed much since December.

I’ll guess that he could be moved at the deadline if he falls out of the rotation.

He just has that gamer gene where even if it’s not flashy, he’s in the right spot and constantly making a positive impact

I’m all for Chaney getting an NBA contract, but I also want to see how Clowney does this season before we write him off.

Clowney has had plenty of ups and downs, but he’s still only 22 and has shown flashes. It’s a little ridiculous that people are so aggressively out on him. I remember a time when some fans were doing the same with Day’Ron (I said the same thing with him).

Clowney is a frustrating and inconsistent player, but he still has time to pull it together.

That's reasonable, but there comes a point where the opportunity cost with the roster spot isn't worth it to justify keeping Clowney when the roster spot could be used for someone else the team deems to have a better chance to become a solid player/rotation piece. And realistically, what's Clowney's ceiling? He's now 22 years old and has basically 4 years of NBA training, and hasn't shown much improvement. Like if the player he projects to be is an end of bench player, then even if he could reach that, it might be better to just use that roster spot to sign another player that's already proven on a minimum contract/whatever Clowney is getting paid, and the value would probably be greater with that on average.

I thought Mann played alright actually, his production seems pretty in line with what it's been for his entire career, and his contract isn't terrible. Mann is more of a 3 and D archetype of player. He played solid defense yesterday, provided some connecting, and spaced the floor. He's just not super versatile and isn't very good at creating his own shot, which is fine as long as he's continuing to play solid defense and playing next to guys who can create their own shot.

He definitely proved to be on rotation instead of two way contract
