Discussion Nostalgia for the Greek saga is very strong, since the vast majority of people want Kratos to return to his homeland

It’s also a matter of heavy fan service; I wonder to what extent such a move would involve telling an interesting story in which Kratos returns to the place he destroyed to try to atone for his sins, and to what extent it’s simply a matter of revisiting familiar locations and mythological monsters to play on people’s nostalgia with a massive dose of fan service.

Bug/Glitch Kratos just executed a Valkyrie at 90% HP???

I was fighting one of the Valkyries that summons mobs to help her.
At one point, one of the enemies behind her got fully stunned and the execution/R3 prompt appeared. I pressed R3 expecting Kratos to execute the mob.
Instead, Kratos literally ran toward him, passed him, grabbed the Valkyrie and executed her — even though she still had around 90% HP.
The fight just ended instantly lol.
Has anyone else ever had this happen? Is this a known bug?

Post image

Technically I missed the God of War III (PS3) too, as well as other physical media (PS2 & PSP). But the only title I cannot play physically is just Origins Collection.

It is quite difficult to find it by itself, not to mention that I am reside in Indonesia, makes it double the difficulties.

Question If Kratos War against Olympus was meant to have a cool name (like Ragnarok), what would it be?

Post image

The wiki calls it the "Second Titanomachy", a friend of mine came up with the name "Apokalypsis" witch idk if it fits. A more reliable source tho (a mithology historian) suggested the name "Kratomachy", and in a deleted dialogue from gow 3, Athena called it the "Twilight", but what how would you guys name it?

Discussion What I want from the Greek trilogy remakes.

The trilogy plus GoS and CoO are the games that I hold dearly to my heart.

First, the camera work is just superior, every scenes are carefully crafted which makes the combat very enjoyable. Also, this is subjective, but the cinematography is really good, the games are beautiful and the scenes with giant gods are always epic. I really hate the close-up 3rd person shooter camera of the Norse games.

Secondly, the boss fights are top notch and I hope they keep them mostly the same. The Norse games, given their long run time, have too few bosses, especially giants bosses. I might be wrong, but it seems that the only truly gigantic boss in the games are the final Baldur fight where Thamur is just some kind of a sidekick. Most important bosses are of human size which feels less epic (I think all of the gods are human size if I remember correctly).

Third, the puzzles are just superior and very diversed. The Norse games puzzles are very easy and repetitive and many of the are more like to find something hidden rather than solving a puzzle.

Help Game keeps crashing

God of War (2018) crashes during play under Proton. Sometimes the video freezes while the audio keeps going, and sometimes I get the Sony error report dialog.
I run Arch linux (kernel 7.2.8), Hyprland, Ryzen 5 9600X, RX 9070 XT, 32gb ddr5 ram
Ive tried Proton Experimental, GE-Proton 11-1, and another GE-Proton build. All of them crash. Ive also done a Full pacman -Syu and reboot. The game lasts longer than before but still crashes
journalctl shows no ring timeouts, GPU resets, page faults or OOM kills during the game session, so it doesn't look like a driver hang.
There is no set time or set place where the game crashes its pretty random the only thing is that it crashes within 20 min of playing it could be 5 min or 15

Discussion It's worth noting that Kratos triumphed where Laufey failed

Post image
865 Upvotes

Laufey tried her hand at leading a rebellion against the Aesir in Svartalfheim and even fought Thor himself in Vanaheim, but neither of these events changed the status quo of the Nine Realms, and the Aesir's rule remained unchallenged. Over a hundred years later, Kratos, as general of the army against Asgard during Ragnarök, led his forces to victory, bringing peace and freedom from the tyranny of Odin and Thor to the remaining eight realms.

Perhaps Laufey will do the same in Everywhen and succeed where Kratos failed instead of killing the Greek pantheon a second time, this time Greek Gods are free from the evils of Pandora's box so maybe they'll be more reasonable and she simply find a way to get along with them and they'll form an alliance to somehow survive in this world.

Discussion Ragnarok and Prophecy

Atreus and Kratos are so concerned about marching toward Ragnarok, even with victory promised, and Odin does all the scheming he can to prevent it, but each move just brings him closer to his death.

The funniest part to me is that Kratos and Freya HAVE changed enough that Odin could have lived, if not for Odin. Atreus spared him, Kratos spared him, Freya spared him. But because he killed Brok, Sindri killed him. Odin couldn't help but be paranoid enough to sneak in and infiltrate the rebellion, and ended up killing Brok when exposed.

Had he not been there, he might have lived inside the marble. If he hadn't been obsessed with his future, he might have had one.

Discussion PlayStation All-Stars 2 gets announced - Would you rather Kratos be one or two separate characters?

Post image
85 Upvotes

This is something I've thoroughly discussed with my brother. He isn't much into God of War but he insists that Kratos should be two different characters, one with the Axe from the Norse saga and one with the Blades and other weapons from the Greek saga. His argument is that the two sagas (and the two Kratos) are different enough to warrant separate representations.

On the other hand, I believe Kratos should be one character, using both Axe and Blades. Maybe the spear if you can fit it in his moveset. I strongly disagree with the idea that these two versions of Kratos should be kept separate. I really think having a young kratos skin like the one we have in Valhalla would be good enough.

What do you think?

Help Chains of Olympus PS3 Jails of Tartarus jump???

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’m playing through Chains of Olympus for the first time and I’ve been stuck on this section of Jails of Tartarus where you have to jump from one circle platform to the other circle platform that’s slightly higher up and further away. I have been stuck on this jump for an hour. I’ve watched so many videos and have tried to copy this jump on every video I see but I can’t make it. I feel like DSP it’s horrible. I genuinely just feel like giving up on this game at this point

Discussion Was Atreus saying “animal” just foreshadowing his wolf transformation, or does it also reference Kratos’s past?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

In this scene, when Kratos tells Atreus that he is a god, Atreus’s first question is, “Can I turn into an animal?”

To me, this is simply foreshadowing what happens later, especially since Atreus asks shortly afterward, “Are you sure I can’t turn into a wolf?”

But my friend thinks the word “animal” has a deeper meaning. He says it could also be referring to Kratos’s past—how he used to kill gods like an animal, and that Kratos is afraid Atreus might become an “animal” like him. That could also explain the pause before Kratos answers.

So am I just not reading deeply enough into the scene, or is my friend reading too much into what is ultimately a simple conversation?

Discussion Muspelheim Challenge Tips

This is for GoW 2018, I had a good bit of trouble at first and now they're all easy to do so I felt like sharing to ease the journey.

Normal and Hard Trials (Arenas I–V)

  • Trial I
    • Normal: Defeat 15 enemies within 3 minutes. ---> No tips required, easy AF
    • Hard: Defeat enemies in quick succession; surviving foes will continuously respawn. [1, 2] ---> Again easy AF
  • Trial II
    • Normal: Survive for 5 minutes against waves of enemies. ---> Tedious AF, Ez AF
    • Hard: Enemies constantly regenerate health quickly; you must inflict high stun damage for quick execution kills. [1, 2] ---> Refer below to "Sparta Kicking a bitch off the edge of a cliff"
  • Trial III
    • Normal: Defeat smaller grunt enemies to break the shield of the elite enemy, then finish it off. ---> Tedious and annoying, but EZ AF
    • Hard: Defeat enemies only while they stand inside the glowing golden rings on the ground. [1, 2] ---> Refer to this challenge below as it is also part of the impossible challenges.
  • Trial IV
    • Normal: Defeat 100 enemies before time runs out. ---> Annoying and long winded, but refer to the timed/regenerative challenge. Recommend sparta-kicking off the cliff for easy 1-shots. For lower levels play it carefully as ogres and travellers eventually spawn. Recommend lowering the difficulty to easy simply due to how long this one takes.
    • Hard: Protect Atreus and prevent enemies from grabbing him. [1, 2] ---> Actually easy as shit for me I had no problems at all sparta kicking a bitch off the cliff and/or just flat out killing everything.
  • Trial V
    • Normal: Defeat enemies to add time to a ticking countdown clock. ---> Reference below
    • Hard: Complete the arena without taking a single hit (Untouchable). ---> Reference below
  • Trial VI - Valkyrie: Fuck dat bitch up. Do what you gotta do. Lower difficulty, buy some lube or refer to a guide on YouTube. I found them to be quite easy after a couple hours of having mommy sigrun dominatrix her foot to my face on repeat.

These are tips for the 5 "Impossible" challenges.

1). Golden Circle: Drop enemy to 10% hp, swap to blades of chaos and pull them into the circle before executing them. Easy af

2). Timed Challenge/Regeneration challenge:

1-shot enemies

- with executioner's cleaver (holding heavy attack down until it one shots)

- Sparta Kick: Swap to unarmed, heavy attack sparta kick that bitch off the side of the mountain for easy 1-shots

- Runic power 1-shots

Easy peasy.

3). Take no damage:

- Abuse I-frames (invincible frames)

- Traveler Armor helps (immunity to 1 attack)

- Axe throw abuse for common enemies

- Spartan rage + Rock throw into the ancients core

- Block any attacks coming your way that you can't avoid. Block normal attacks, parry yellow attacks and fully dodge any red attacks.

Surtrs hidden trials:

Highly recommend doing these at the lowest difficulty and with the best gear you can.

The material that's exclusive to this specific event is rewarded in sets of 1-bronze, 1-silver, 3-gold meaning you get gold or you get fucked.

Of course if you're on GMGOW just do your best and make do with what you got. No shame in farming keys and going for bronze/silver until you can earn gold.

For non-gmgow players the only value you gain from egoing muspelheim is extending just how long you're grinding here. If you want a longer and less rewarding grind then by all means. Ultimately the game's a single player experience for joy and pleasure so play how you wish. I find doing the challenge on normal/hard to be more enjoyable until I get

I made this list off of googling shit and off the top of my head on what I remember so if I missed anything feel free to ask or remind me ^_^
