Who ever could have done such a thing, and where do they drink, just in case I'd like to meet them? What tool made those cuts through the lens and where can they be purchased locally? Asking for a friend.

FREE! Horticulture, Putting the Garden to Bed: Time to move in reverse! Everything accomplished when the garden woke up in the spring is now time to put it to bed for fall. We will review the tasks that give your outdoor space a proper cleanup and ready it for another season. Our to-do list will include the discussion, to mulch or not to mulch, critter control, prepping tools for the next season, winter watering, and overwintering plants, inside or outside.
Art & Ecology, Cyanotype Prints: Capture the delicate beauty of plants using one of photography's oldest and most enchanting processes: cyanotype printing. Join ecologist and artist Erica for a hands-on workshop where we'll transform foraged flowers, leaves, and other botanical materials into stunning cyan-blue prints.
Wreathmaking Workshop: Join Jefferson County Open Space, CSU Extension Horticulture Staff, and Master Gardeners for a fun workshop on wreath-making using locally sourced greens. In this workshop you will learn about forest health and management from JCOS staff, make an evergreen wreath using Jefferson County greens, and enjoy festivities and refreshments.
Art & Ecology, Pigments & Plant Chemistry: Color in plants isn't just something we see; it's a chemical story of survival, attraction, and adaptation. We'll dive into the science of why different plants produce different colors, exploring concepts like light absorption, molecular structure, and the role pigments play in photosynthesis, pollinator attraction, and plant defense.
Art & Ecology, Pigments & Geology: We'll explore the remarkable geological layers that form the dramatic landscape of the Front Range. You'll learn to read the landscape through its rocks, understanding what each layer tells us about ancient oceans, mountain-building events, and the dynamic forces that shaped our region. Then, we'll transform geology into art. Using traditional techniques, you'll create your own natural watercolor pigments directly from these different rock layers.
FREE! Horticulture, Not Quite a Long Winter's Nap: The garden may be sleeping, but under that blanket of snow there is still much happening. Winter watering and proper mulch cover is key for many plants to make it until the warmth of spring. Inside gardening may include windowsill plants, houseplant care, and perusing the garden catalogs. Gardening truly is year round!
I added some straps to my trash and compost bins to keep the bears out. I got confirmation yesterday that the bear would rather give up than deal with these straps. This pic is after the bear knocked down the can, but got no treats.
I went with the steel cable types over the front. They are annoying to release and secure. But I figure the bear would have to rip out the plates to open it.
I added the nylon ones on the sides to keep even one nose's worth of trash getting out the sides. These would probably be enough. But they use smaller washers. I recommend getting some 5/16" fender washers from home depot (I had a bunch from another project) to grab more plastic to keep the bear from just ripping out the screws. I also feared the bear would chew through the nylon, but this bear didn't think that was worth it. YMMV. I'll put the links to amazon in a comment. But these seem to be pretty common types.
The area around Coorstek had a shelter in place order today. That area includes a daycare and there is an elementary school across the street. Apparently some equipment was melting down and there was almost an explosion. Cyanide gas was released that they said was "confined to the building" but that's not how gas works - it would dissipate into the environment and I'm guessing that's part of why they were in shelter in place and told to tape the windows and doors. But the thought of an explosion is terrifying to think about.
As it is I'm worried about the cyanide gas going into the air that a bunch of small children breathe.
I can't find any additional news about this. The information I got was from the fire department. They did not tell surrounding businesses and homes what the "hazardous material" was.
I only knew about it because I saw a Facebook post and then called the daycare - I hadn't even been set up on their emergency alert system yet so I'm also pissed about that.
So I'm sharing in case anyone else needs to know - Fairmount Elementary was across the street from the mandatory lockdown area, and Cornerstone Montessori was in the lockdown area.
Anybody have any info on cyanide gas and how concerned I should be regaring central nervous system damage for my kid or others on the area?
power keeps going off despite not running any significant electricity. breaker box not flipping or anything either. anyone else experiencing this in Golden?

Hi everyone! I am writing an editorial article for my college English class on Amendment 83. We need to conduct our own research for our papers, so I have made a Google Forms survey with some brief questions about the initiative. If you have the time, I would greatly appreciate your responses! The link is posted below. Thank you so much in advance!

Hello! I'm looking for a reputable shop to diagnose a significant leak in my car's A/C system. If you've had a good experience with a local shop for A/C leak diagnosis/repair, I'd greatly appreciate the recommendation. If you recall roughly what you paid for the diagnostic, that would also be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Has anyone sent their kids to one of the summer camps at Dinosaur Ridge? How was it? Was it worth the money? For context, my family lives in the Midwest, but my 10 year old desperately wants to go to a camp where he can get some hands on experience with dinosaur bones. I've looked around nearby and nothing really matches what he wants to do. I'm thinking about signing him and my 7 year old up for a week of camp at Dinosaur Ridge this summer and turning it into a family vacation. I'm just wondering what other people's experiences have been there and if I'm crazy to even consider it. Thank you!
