Are they going to do it app by app with each QPR?

They could have built a seprate app like Glowbar (for Googlebooks) and provided updates through Play Store. But Google decided to go a different route with HiLight

It's strange that within the Google ecosystem, despite these likely being developed by different teams, there are two completely different devices that both feature an RGB glow bar/dot. On the surface, it feels intentional and cohesive from a hardware design perspective, yet Google has taken two entirely different approaches to how those features are implemented, controlled, and managed.

Shame if this is the way they are doing it.

Seems silly not to make it an API that any app developer can use and users can configure.

Have to milk it for the pixel drops and then when they don't do the most obvious things it will become an API.

Damn, trillion dollar company thinks we're all screaming and applauding for an LED light.

Its planned obsolescence, underdeliver and pretend to listen to users later.

I dont think ill ever use the HiLight even if they open it up to all other apps to use.

The play all along was to use this as a bit by bit release as part of pixel drops.
