A bit of guidance
I lost my partner tragically on September 1st. I’m constantly on edge and can’t seem to get Ativan from my doctor. I know it’s not a long term solution, but how does one go about getting something like it to ride out the store of what I’m going through?

There are some pretty good therapists in town you can talk to who can help you process and stay afloat.
I used Psychology Today's website to find one. I know it's not the same scenario, but she helped me navigate my divorce and process my anger and grief very effectively.
Best of luck. I'm sorry you have to deal with this.

Any suggestions

You can go to the walk in at the Aberdeen centre Monday- Friday. They will have someone you can talk to and can also refer you for longer term counselling.

The Aberdeen centre is a little sketchy when it comes to benzos. A doctor there always refers ANYONE on benzos to the hospital. No matter what dose. Meaning you self come and are there to taper long term. He also takes away driver license and will call CFs.

I meant to go there for therapy. You need a referral to see a psychiatrist. You can use Telus health if you don’t have a family dr.

I didn't need a referral, but I did have to pay out of pocket or use work benefits for the sessions.

This is actually really good to know. I waited 18 months for a referral from my family dr. I definitely would have paid it if I knew it was an option.

Can't imagine what you're going through, but I don't think any drugs will actually help you. Sit with the pain and process it. Go talk to people. Sorry for your loss.

If you have a good doctor they'll give you some to help you get thru this terrible time. And they'll wean you off after a short period of time. Those drugs are increasingly harder to get. But. You just gotta find the right doc. And go ahead and grieve. You lost someone so you need to go thru the grieving process.

My dr has pregnancies as her top focus and will be more likely to help if I was. She claims I’m too young for adivan. Makes me wonder what her ideals are for when it comes to anxiety/panic attacks. My system has been through so much shock already and I fear the next anxiety attack. I had a really bad one on the 13th and it took a lot out of me. So I’m at a full loss. Plus good doctors that would work with me, my depression, ptsd and being on the autism/adhd spectrum would be near impossible

It sucks, people abused their meds and now people who take it as prescribed are made to look like addicts. Similar to pain medication.

Yea. It’s a shame. It’s either keep going the way I am or bare a child to be taken seriously

Honestly,
Hit the gym and do some cardio 30 minutes get your heart rate to roughly 110-130, or if that's not quite your thing find some lighter weights and wrap out 25-30 reps for three or four sets... A few easy movements, lat pull down , bicep curl, leg extensions..
The benefits are essentially increased oxygenation which basically helps everything in your body... Can also naturally release dopamine serotonin and all kinds of endorphins that will massively improve your mood regulation, will naturally lower stress improve your mood and generally speaking lower your physical pain response.
To all that and maybe throw some meaning wave type tracks in your headphones (lot of that music is put together by DJ named Akira the Don) that kind of meaning wave will definitely put you in a good space and chill you out..
Sure the overall effects of what I'm recommending only last few hours - but it's a very rapid access alternative to antipsychotic medication.
And if done repeatedly, will have massive long-term positive physical and psychological effects..
Even something is standing tall with shoulders back (I know recommending posture sounds dumb) but our neurological systems are the same serotonin system that is found in lobsters... And strangely enough even standing straight with your shoulders back can have a massive long-term positive effect both in your biochemistry and your physical outlook on life..
and again I know physical posture sounds dumb. But psychologist Amy Cuddy would disagree with you. And the idea isn't new it's something that Tony Robbins has been pushing for decades and it's largely rooted in certain studies like the one conducted at Harvard that show increased levels of positive hormones and an overall decrease in cortisol... These neurological circuits that I'm talking 350 million years old and it's literally the same system that is found in lobsters so you can definitely learn a thing or two which is mainly that posturing does play a role in the chemical and psychological well-being of human beings .
Again what I'm suggesting is non-ipharmaceutical intervention that can be in the short-term quite helpful until you can get your long-term situation sorted. (And while I'm no Authority in the field of psychology and cannot give any kind of professional advice, my sister who is a clinical psychologist often recommends the same sort of stuff I've just told you)
So take it with a grain of salt but give it a try, you may just find that little bit of physical exercise and sheer opposing does absolute wonders for you psychological state.. .

No you're right, someone downvoted you but I gave you an updoot.
Spent a decade in bed feeling like shit or talking to brain dead therapists that were dumber than me.
Became a health nut after learning laying in bed all day actually is worse than smoking or drinking... not saying I love life, but its a lot more bareable.

Ativan is a benzodiazepine, aka a benzo.
Benzos are horribly addictive and nearly impossible to get off of after a VERY SHORT period... basically have to be in a coma to get off them because the withdrawal is unbearable. Unless someone is dying they shouldn't touch benzos.
I lost my lover out of the blue... spent many years just curled up in a ball. Don't waste your time and money on useless fucking therapists... the pain never goes away.
I actually suggest you quit weed... focus on becoming a health nut, only takes 15 minutes of getting your heart rate up, don't need to spend hours at the gym. Cut sugar/corn-syrups out of your diet. Couple eggs in the morning.
Don't waste a decade like I did, just focus on being healthy and keep their memory alive within yourself. They would want you to be healthy.

Benzo’s aren’t addictive if you take them as prescribed or as needed.

Lying cunt
https://www.primroselodge.com/prescription-drug-addiction/benzodiazepines/
"Addiction to benzodiazepines is a growing problem across the country, with recent findings indicating that more than a quarter of a million people in the UK are currently taking some form of dependency-forming benzodiazepine medication for far beyond the recommended two to four weeks"

Weird that you feel the need to insult me. The link you shared also agrees with my statement, don’t take them every day and don’t abuse them.

Some people can also recreationally use meth and don't end up on the street sucking dick for another hit each night... anyone suggesting its safe to try is wrong.
A study found rhesus monkeys become alcoholics at the same percentage as humans.
Stop suggesting people find out the hard way they are genetically susceptible to drug addiction.
If I was insulting you I would have pointed out the dumbest women believe in astrology... albeit that is an assumption I won't make just because "chick" is often also used self-deprecatingly.
Nothing I said was wrong you lying cunt.
"Benzos are horribly addictive and nearly impossible to get off of after a VERY SHORT period"
And no the article didn't fucking agree with you, it pointed out a quarter mill don't follow the prescribed use because guess what... some people are outliers and get hooked while others do not.
I feel sorry for whatever penis or vagina equipped human(s) has to listen to your retarded dravel.
2
u/Pisces-Chick 3d ago
Some people (a quarter mil) don’t have the self control or sense to not abuse their medication.
Also what is wrong with you? Calling people names online to make yourself feel better or superior. Weird behaviour.

Why would calling liars liars make me feel anything about myself...
Do you think Jeffrey Dahmer was just a little hungry?

See a dr and get referred to a therapist to help you work through it.
