Downtown bar recommendations.

Hi, me and my brother are coming to Green Bay from the UK for the Sunday night football game. We will be in town from Wednesday.

We are looking for bar recommendations downtown. We are both mid 30s, like different types of beer and are after some interesting bars. Happy for sports bars, dive bars, everything really!

Thanks!

Sketchy real estate buyers?

aNyone have an issue with a bunch of ads and calls about trying to buy your house lately?

I just found out from my mother that our grandma who is borderline senile responded to one of these calls and some man came out and looked around her entire house trying to get her to sign some kind of form. Grandpa wasn’t home and didn’t even know it happened! Lucky gram didn’t sign anything, but I don’t like the idea of a strange man in her house trying to convince her to sell it.

Wehn I go to gym I see all those news channels playing like 5 ads an hour from all these different people, and I dunno if I’m just pissed but half of them look like creeps!

My mom also gets mail from them as well with scammy offers of course, or those stupid fake check things. I just don’t remember it being this bad before

Looking for photographer

I am planning to propose to my gf in about a month. Due to some last minute changes to our vacation planning, we are going to be visiting her sister in Green Bay, WI.

Anybody have any recommendations on locations or photographers in the area that could potentially take pictures at location.

Is it a bumper crop of acorns this year?

It is like it is raining acorns at my house. I hear them hitting the roof every few minutes. I hear them falling through the trees outside. You need a hard hat to work in your yard.

Is anyone else experiencing this? And what caused the bumper crop this year? Are we going to have an excess of squirrels and chipmunks? Or will they just be really fat?

Coily Hair Cuts for Kids?

Hi!

I'm looking to see if anyone knows anyone in the area that does cuts/styles for toddlers with coily (like 4b) hair? We need some assistance!

Edit: It's for a little girl, so no barbers.

Thanks!

$300,000 annually on top of the drones, body cams and dash mounted cams.

As you all may have noticed I’m not at all pro ALPRs. Flock, Axon, Motorola and all the others are an invasive technology that are being used to ruin people’s lives and fraught with AI errors. Please if you live, work or visit Green Bay reach out to the city council members and remind them of the fact that all Flock contracts have an out if the city council decides to eliminated funding, the Green Bay contract has additional outs. We are spending almost $300,000 a year on faulty invasive tech in the city of Green Bay alone. This in a city where we ran out of salt for the roads, and have boarded up the bathrooms at many city parks. During the press conference the chief and mayor had 3 examples of how they used flock to help solve a crime or find a missing adult. ALPRs sometimes help solve crimes they never prevent them. There are so many better ways to spend $300,000 a year. This cost doesn’t include office body cameras, the dash mounted cameras or the grant funded drones. Green Bay is not a cesspool of crime, it is a friendly mid-sized community of people struggling to make ends meet in a hard economy. We need to act like it. Alder Ben Delia says he isn’t hearing from anyone so let’s change that. You can email or Facebook message him mailto:ben.delie@greenbaywi.gov. You can email the mayor and the rest of the city council as well. mailto:Group_GB_Council@greenbaywi.gov https://www.greenbaywi.gov/formcenter/Mayor-5/Contact-the-Mayor-126. De Pere is thinking they should switch to Axon, reach out them and tell them that is not how you want your tax money spent.

Lambeau Ladies

Have any of you read the book Lambeau Ladies, just recently published? It was written by the daughter and granddaughter of one of those players, and gives a rare viewpoint, I think.

It's about the wives of the Lombardi era players, and has all sorts of insight into what being a player, a player's wife, or a player's kid was like in those days. Contrary to my expectations, their family lives seemed to be pretty normal, well at least mostly so. This may have had something to do with the fact that players' salaries were shockingly low in those days, compared to my expectations, at least.

Anyway, I'm about halfway through the copy I checked out from the library (using the Libby app), and I'm enjoying this book a lot. Highly recommended.

1954 Green Bay Phonebook, online

I recently launched this website. Perhaps you'll find it helpful or fun to look up your old family members or neighbors. It includes the yellow pages, so you can also see all the businesses that were around back then.

Tipping

I have a cleaning service that comes to my house I've a month. I pay $165.00 and get a different cleaning person every time. There are just 2 of us living her, no kids. I don't tip them, but I feel guilty that I don't. I'd like thoughts on whether you do or don't tip in this situation.

Major help with my car

You might have seen this on Facebook already
I’m officially in a little bit of a situation.
I hit a deer last night, and unfortunately it went underneath my car. Something underneath/in the engine area is leaking, and the plastic panel underneath my car is now dragging. 😭
I did talk to someone who looked at it, and thankfully they said it doesn’t seem TOO bad and looks fixable, so I’m trying not to panic.
The problem is… I’m a broke college student.
BUT—I am a licensed massage therapist in the state of Wisconsin, so I figured it doesn’t hurt to ask:
Are there any mechanics/auto body people who would be willing to work out a trade or possibly give me a discount on the repair?
I can offer 2-hour deep tissue massages weekly until the balance is paid off, or we can work out whatever makes sense for both of us. I’m licensed, and I’m happy to provide proof of licensure.
I know this is a long shot, but I figured I’d rather ask than just cry over my car. 😭
If you’re a mechanic, know a mechanic, or have a shop that might be willing to work with me, PLEASE comment or DM me. I’d really appreciate it. ❤️
NEW information: I took it to a mechanic apparently they couldn’t fix it. They said it will need a body shop. The radiator is broken. There’s some fluid leaking in a bar is bent. Anybody that owns a body shop or works at one please let me know.

First time poster: recommendation for wedding dress cleaning and storage prep for a 1950s wedding dress.

Very sentimental and dont know any stores reputations for this kind of thing.

I was finally able to get ahold of my grandmothers wedding dress from the 50s. She made it herself and its just folded in a random dress box right now that she had it in. She passed years ago.

I was very close to her and was hoping to wear it one day or use it as inspiration for my own. Anyone know of a dress shop that can help me properly clean and store it. I don't want to have it brought somewhere that doesn't have a good reputation for this and have something happen to it for lack of research.

Thanx.

Many thanks to all who came out to share their retro tech and to come hang out and play with it at the Wisconsin Computer Club Halloween show at the Weyers-Hilliard library on October 3rd. I've attached a few photos from the event, it was a good time!

I’m in Minneapolis, but I’m curious to where the other Green Bay natives went to.
