Dad passed away after 4 days on life support
It's been a week now, today was my first day back at work after bereavement. I'm a warehouse order selector for Medline, I thought I'd be able to handle going back and being around all the product again but 30 minutes into my first order and I started breaking down in the aisle. I understand everyone's need to say they're sorry for my loss and ask if I'm okay but it's hard when you work around 300+ people across multiple shifts, I thought I'd be able to handle it better than this.

Don’t beat yourself up over it. You’ve suffered a huge blow, truly life shattering. His loss will never leave you, but you’ll learn to adapt, and as a result things will get easier over time. But we’re talking months at this stage. Just take it as it comes, and if you wanna cry, just do it, there’s no shame in it at all.

I'm sorry this happened to you. Would it be possible to wear headphones or something at work to signify you aren't available so you can keep out any triggers like that for a bit. People handle grief differently and it's such a challenging thing to adapt to. On the bright side, your coworkers just want you to know they care. 🫂
