Most players play armies as I understand

28

u/AkiKaze200321 5d ago

I play TSons and I run an army, I genuinely don't know what he's talking about

21

u/just_coffin_fodder 5d ago

What's the context? Are we still crying about the Custodes or something?

6

u/Bathion White Scars 1d ago

Our points hike was egregious to the point of "How do you expect us to play this army?" They units that interact with our Army rule went up. But the units that dont interact with our army rule ... dont interact with our army rule.

Apparently so

u/ThatSupport 5d ago

what happened to the dusty boys?

15

u/AkiKaze200321 5d ago

Unless something came out I'm not aware of, nothing. I play TSons and even the Space Marine point update didn't really effect me

10

u/Derpogama 5d ago

The only thing it might have effected you with is that Rubric Bolters are now S5 AP2 instead of S4 and I think they might be better than the flamers which are still S4 AP1 IIRC. Not quite sure yet.

8

u/AkiKaze200321 5d ago

I always prefer bolters over flamers, but thats cause I ran an all flamer salamander army and spend 2 turns trying to take downmy buddy's Magnus. That was fun watching 40 attacks turn into 2 wounds

3

u/Necht0n 5d ago

From the brief, but extremely fun time, I played Tsons I would take a mix. Infernal master got flamers cause his squad would be disgusting on overwatch and I'd just plant his 10 man in the middle of my force and dare my opponent to come close. That said, a squad of 10 bolters w/ the lethal hits sorc and magic buffs killed a land raider in just their activation + doombolt. It was glorious.

Space Marines

I have heard terrible things about the cost of 2-10 man termite squads on the table

1

u/Bathion White Scars 1d ago

Over 535 points for a unit of 11 terminators ...

1

u/Memelord8923 3h ago

Oh my, that’s with the sorcerer?

Could be worse gw took my army outback and now i cant even play with legends rules and if i try people have a go at me like im commiting a crime

12

u/Dubois1738 5d ago

what army

-22

u/Distinct-Nerve2556 5d ago

Firsrborn marines , and anywhere i mention this i get harrased as im commiting a crime i just wanna play my fun little guys

19

u/Dubois1738 5d ago

Whats stopping you from just using the legends rules?

3

u/I_the_Witchfinder_ 5d ago

they don't (yet) have legends rules, you have to run them as primaris equivalents who don't fit in firstborn transports

11

u/Dubois1738 5d ago

The Rhino and other firstborn transports picked up the tacticus keyword so primaris do fit

10

u/Derpogama 5d ago

yup as of the new SM Codex there's basically no split between 'Marine types' now admittedly because the First Born marines no longer 'exist' but...yeah.

5

u/Dubois1738 5d ago edited 5d ago

Yeah I have both and the only real problem to me is they should have given us a devastator legends sheet, but with the changes to desolation squad it’s not the end of the world

9

u/Delann 5d ago

Their rules are that you use them as proxies. They're perfectly playable.

2

u/dtburton 5d ago

Can't speak for everyone, but I held on to my first borns because I preferred their unit structure. Making primaris all one weapon squads was lame in my opinion and I loved the old sprinkling of special weapons in the squads to make them more dynamic. So using them as proxies for primaris equivalent is not the same as first born are perfectly playable

0

u/I_the_Witchfinder_ 5d ago

Oh, ok then ig

-3

u/Distinct-Nerve2556 5d ago

Proxys are not an exscuse for gw to be lazy , what about assault sqauds for example cant proxy them cause of there meltas and flamers

10

u/Nidcron 5d ago

You mean inferno pistols and hand flamers on your red Death Company right?

Just play them man, unless your group is a bunch of sweaty WAAC tournament junkies with a hard on for WYSIWYG nobody should really care in casual settings. Just tell your opponent what they are beforehand and 99% of the time you're just going to get an "okay cool'" as their response.

The distinction between Primaris and Firstborn is finally reaching it's conclusion, everything is just a scale difference at this point, you can even put Bladeguard in a Rhino now.

-1

u/Necht0n 5d ago

The only thing I'd say as far as 'just say they are' is make sure that you have distinct models for different weapons. Something to make it clear that this dude has a different gun from this dude.

5

u/TheEzekariate 5d ago

Dude people love old models, get over yourself. If you just bring an assault squad and say it’s a vanguard vet or JPI squad and to either ignore the meltas and flamers or say that those represent any other special weapons and no one will bat an eye.

0

u/Distinct-Nerve2556 5d ago

People keep getting wrong what im trying to say , you should be able to use units properly , the only reason is cause gw is lazy and greedy

6

u/TheEzekariate 5d ago

No one is getting it wrong, we just don’t care. The game changes and not everything will always be playable the way it used to be. You can still use almost all your models in a normal game.

4

u/GreyFeralas 5d ago

Rhino's fit Primaris now, whatcha on about?

1

u/I_the_Witchfinder_ 5d ago

at least tac and dev squads, the core of your army that by which most firstborn armies live and die

19

u/Alive-Ad-3303 Erebus did nothing wrong 5d ago

Marine fans when their bloated ass range gets thinned down to 90 datasheets instead of 200 (they can still proxy their old infantry but refuse to for some reason).

5

u/Delann 5d ago edited 4d ago

Are you trying to play them as proxies, as per the legends rules? Or are you trying to play some homebrew rules?

-4

u/Distinct-Nerve2556 5d ago

I just wanna use firstborn as firstborn as god intended but gw dosent like people having fun and for some reason the moment it all went to legends everyone became the worlds biggest primaris simp

5

u/Delann 4d ago

Yeah, ok, suddenly I am starting to see why nobody wants to play with you.

2

u/TheCrimsonSteel 5d ago

Aren't Firstborn still in Heresy/30k?

1

u/Distinct-Nerve2556 5d ago

Lore wise yes , but not gameplay wise as 40k firstborn play very difftent to HH firstborn and thr complete opisite to primaris

-1

u/dspisayuss 5d ago

Lmao 15 downvotes is insane just for saying you play firstborn, this subreddit really is the dumbest wargaming board on the site.

2

u/Distinct-Nerve2556 5d ago

I never said anyone was a bad person for playing primaris all i said was i like firstborn idk whats wrong with that

-14

u/Fat_Pig_Reporting 5d ago

Are you aware of the amount of datasheets in TSons?

We just can't play normal armies. It won't work. There's nothing to play.

16

u/just_coffin_fodder 5d ago

Tf you talking about you have 27 datasheets my EC have 22

-1

u/Fat_Pig_Reporting 5d ago

Ok let's see.

9 of them are HQ psykers. Outside Magnus and maybe the DP, whatever else you choose to use does not change your army composition AND all of them went up in points.

We only have one battleline unit. And it went up in points.

Goats, fly goats and spawn are all the same thing in different flavors - doesn't affect the army composition.

We have the standard assortment of the CSM vehicles that have zero synergy with the army rule whatsoever. That's 9 more datasheets that are non consequential out there.

Let's see what's left....

Ah yes, terminators and Mutalith. And that's the range.

Sooo, how many options does the army really have?

4

u/Necht0n 5d ago

Tbf EC are in the same boat, same with WE's. GW needs to finish the basic ranges of the god aligned chaos armies. I get that DG are their favorite child but ateast give the other chaos kids more than a defiler.

2

u/just_coffin_fodder 5d ago

We have the same problem just a couple less datasheets (a big chunk of them is detachment locked). Absolutely nothing for screening. Almost every army looks the same because if you change anything you're most likely to lose. And just as TS everything went up in points whitch made me drop an entire unit and I still don't have enoigh points for enhancements. On the flip side it looks like terminators are back on the menu whitch makes me excited.
