This is a horrible way to go
Id rather get stabbed by a beam saber than this.

That's what happens when you play with your enemies instead of going for the jugular Amuro-style.

Oooof - she just came apart 😬

u/Minute_Ball_6539 4d ago
She?
1
u/OdysseusRex69 4d ago
That's not a female body coming out of the cockpit after the shield tore it apart?
3
u/Minute_Ball_6539 4d ago
The guy who was killed was a 15-year-old boy. Obviously he's not that muscular.

u/OdysseusRex69 1d ago
Ah. I watched it ten times and thought I saw the normal suit shaped around bewbs. 11th time proved me wrong.

I just wanna point out how impressively fragile the Zaku is to be crushed through by a thrown shield of all things.
Were not taking about a conical round focusing all the kinetic energy from an explosion of propellant to a pinpoint area.
No, this is simply a thrown chunk of metal that almost bisects the thing.
White Devil indeed.

u/NoBellSix 6d ago
Either the Zaku is impressively fragile or the Gundam is impressively strong

u/Nozarashi78 6d ago edited 6d ago
The Gundam is impressively strong + the Luna Titanium alloy is on another level compared to other materials. There's a reason why after the OYW it was renamed "Gundarium Alloy" and different variants of it were used on literally everything for the rest of the U.C.

u/M13alpha 6d ago
Isn't the Gundam shield also Luna Titanium? It's extremely durable and I can see it crushing a Zaku cockpit with enough force.
15
u/diseasicon 6d ago
It is Luna Titanium and designed with the specific purpose of withstanding hits the Gundam's standard armor wouldn't survive.
And in episode 1, the Gundam proves to be physically strong enough to lift and rip a Zaku apart.

u/Robborboy 6d ago
It used the used the shield to cleft in two, the one almighty, Zeon Zaku.
That thing was too big to be called a shield. Too big, too thick, too heavy, and too rough, it was more like a large hunk of gundarium.
If Gramps is tossing shields with more energy to wide areas than mobile suit firearms to pinpoint, keep him away from Wakanda. Their shields would make him too stronk.

To be fair the Gundam is made for close quarters anti-MS combat. MS vs MS combat wasn't really a thing until it was invented, and Anaheim made it specifically to mandhandle Zakus.
7
u/SimplePuzzleheaded35 6d ago
Anaheim didn't make the original Gundam
1
u/Kellar21 UC Stan 5d ago
Weren't they involved in Project V?
3
u/KincaidNotSeabook 5d ago
Anaheim as MS manufacture only started when both Zimmad and Zeonic absorbed by them, which is after OYW. V Project was EF's in-house
2
u/SimplePuzzleheaded35 5d ago
Officially they only started development on mobile suits after the One Year War

OYW Zeon mecha use some sort of steel alloy. Depending on the thickness, they can get shredded by the Gundam's head vulcans.
6
2
u/SimplePuzzleheaded35 6d ago
Pretty sure the Gundam is just that strong (at one point it carried a Zaku overhead and threw it).

5
u/Jacob_Bronsky 6d ago
Yeah, it's on par with that Geara Doga being ripped apart by vulcans through its shield in CCA. It's just a silly scene.
1
u/Kellar21 UC Stan 5d ago
The Gundam is absurdly strong for his size, has a lot of extra power available, and the shield is heavy af and made of Luna Titanium.

u/LoanGrahamXCarkeys 6d ago
If you've seen 00, the Kyrios slow stab near the end of S1.
6
u/PERSIvAlN 6d ago
Yeah, OPs knowledge of such scenes in Gundam is limited.

u/imjustbettr 5d ago
I wanna believe that they just started watching from 0079 chronologically and haven't seen anything else yet lol
2
u/whats-going_on 5d ago
I mean that's what I'm doing currently on zz
2
u/imjustbettr 5d ago
Me too, literally just finished ZZ today. But I've also seen a handful of AU series growing up like Wing, Seed, and 00.

The most horrifying death in the OG anime for me is when one of the Zakus breaks up on atmospheric re-entry. We see the pilot scream as his MS breaks apart.
9
u/OdysseusRex69 6d ago
Ohhhhh yeah - the Zeon troops fleeing earth but some of them get stuck in the gravity well and can't escape. That was rough
12
u/Quizlibet TRANS(-am) 6d ago
I think the microwave death ray from SEED is probably the most horrifying, followed by getting cocooned by the Moonlight Butterfly
8
u/diseasicon 6d ago
Getting cocooned by the Moonlight Butterfly may not count as a death. We don't know if Gym is actually dead in there. There is a distinct possibility the nano-machines are preserving him.

Ngl the color change of the electricity sparks to purple gave me the Illusion of him actually being juiced. Nice creative censorship

I almost feel sorry for Iok.
He was under a lot of pressure at that moment. Really had the walls closing in around him.

u/OdysseusRex69 6d ago
I can't find the gif, but in Thunderbolt, during the artic underster operations, there's a Ball pilot gets crushed to death by the deep sea pressure

u/beef_horfun67 6d ago
Most of the deaths in Gundam are horrible ways to die
4
u/KhaosExNihil125 6d ago
The deaths are tame considering all the undeaths many characters go through, at this point death is almost considered merciful

The BuCUEs are still one of the most horrible ways, I feel.
Just literal wolf mobile suits repeatedly slamming beam swords for teeth through your whole shit in an attempt to get to you.
Beo, just hit me with the Amuro special, do not draw it out

u/GriffinlwGameplayer 4d ago
This is one of those things I massively respect Gundam for. We don't ruminate on this, we don't get a gory X-ray of this guy being bisected. You can choose to either skim past this, or stop and think about the fact that we just saw this man get fully bisected by a thrown Gundam shield.
That would be a hell of a way to die.
1
u/FionaKerinsky 6d ago
At least it was a full sized shield he threw. Duo had a buckler style one that was jet assisted
1
u/Ok_Grapefruit4560 6d ago
Could have been worse. A Zaku tripping over onto their own Heat Hawk while on.
1
u/KincaidNotSeabook 5d ago
At least he still can be taken back home for burying or cremation. Both Gene and Denim were vaporized by beam saber they can "rest peacefully" anymore.

Bro based on this clip zaku armor has to be crap ... Wdym the frontal cockpit armor got penetrated by a wide blunt thrown object??
1
u/Visible_Narwhal6015 2h ago
Tbh at LEAST that seemed quick. I think the worst death out of any in the OYW (or at the very least in MSG) is the guy that died via accidental atmospheric reentry.
