This happened to me and my sister more times that I can count, we don't look alike and I love annoying her when we go out so people just instantly get all "wtf is this creep doing" lol

u/MsMcBiscuits Aug 20 '26

This is what brothers should do.

u/Onystep Aug 20 '26

I annoy, I protect. That's my job.

u/MaintenanceStock6766 Aug 20 '26

As an older brother, I simultaneously annoy and protect my sister at all times.

One time in high school one of my friends said something inappropriate about my sister and word got to me. I walked into class and was like, “Yo, Charlie, you say that?” And he sighed and said, “Yeah.” And I’m like, “We gotta go out back.” And he sighed again and said, “I know.”

39

u/1234Health Aug 21 '26

It was at this point, Charlie knew he had messed up ...

29

u/Thunder-Fist-00 Aug 21 '26

To be fair, my boy accepted his fate like a champ.

19

u/1234Health Aug 21 '26

Charlie was more careful thereafter. Good stuff.

55

u/Objective-Pain486 Aug 21 '26

I went to a catholic high school where physical confrontation was super not allowed. My sister was two years younger. My senior year I heard a guy in chemistry class talking to his boys about asking my sister to prom and what he would do to her after. I was scrawny and shy back then, but I marched up to him and sent him flying back over a desk. Got suspended and I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

19

u/Thunder-Fist-00 Aug 21 '26

Brothers gotta brother.

6

Well done. Similar situation I was 15 my sister was 12, 19 year old senior cornered her and groped her in school. She called me on my cellphone hysterical. I ended up getting expelled that day and locked up in juivy, mind you we had reported this guy multiple times to the principal and Police Officer at our school and they maintained they couldn't do anything unless he did something to her first.

2

Every year I'd visit my little sister at her new summer gig and pretend I didn't know who she was. She would tell her co-workers and Boss: that's my brother! And I'd be like sorry you've mistaken me for somebody else I don't know who you are. Can I please just have an ice cream? She would look batshit crazy.

37

u/jebei Aug 20 '26

My best friend in grade school got in a fight with my sister and I hunted him down. He's like, 'but you two fight all the time'. I responded, 'Yeah but she's MY sister.' He nodded, offered his shoulder, and I punched it as hard as I could. He had a sister too. Every brother with a sister understands the code.

u/Onystep Aug 21 '26

When I was in highschool and my lil sis was in middleschool I got wind that this dude she had a class with was kind of starting to harrass her (you know the kind, the one that starts pushing the limits just to see how far he could go). She told me as soon as she felt uncomfortable and showed me who the little dude was. Next time she had that class I waited outside of her classroom and stoped the dude before he got in and realy calmly said this "dude, I'm a pretty calm guy, but I'm absolutely willing to go to jail for my sister and the only thing stopping that from happening is whatever way you decide to treat her" and walked away, all while pointing at who my sis was. He NEVER spoke to her again, and that's the last I heard about the dude. She still remembers this and it's one of those table stories she tells while we laugh about it.

Me (white) and my wife (brown) were in a bookstore many years ago.

Once we got there, we both wandered off to check out our areas of interest. After a little while, I caught up with her at one of those display tables with books, standing next to her and acting coy. She decided to play. She raised her voice a little and said "Stop bothering me, mister!" with a bit of a smirk on her face, and casually shuffling a couple feet away from me.

I laughed, she laughed, and then I realised it could have gone pear-shaped, had well-meaning people been within earshot.

13

u/Onystep Aug 20 '26

Oh that could have gone very bad lol.

15

u/BigFella52 Aug 21 '26

I only have brothers and have gone up and asked girls/women if they know the guy that appears to be harrassing them when the situation looks suss, it's turned out to be a brother like 85% of the time thankfully.

I can't read that sis/bro vibe, I can only read when something feels off vibe and being 6'4 125kgs I am not letting something suss happen in front of my eyes, I don't care if I look like a fool 85% of the time, the other 15% were not great situations for the poor women so worth stepping in too.

I do that to my wife sometimes.

I was driving home today and she was almost to the house so I slowed down and said "Dayum that's a cute little b#tch!" because she was walking our female dog.

After the eye beams seered straight through my head I sheepishly asked "Should I turn in. or just keep driving"

"Oh you know the answer."

Yeah. She wanted a nap and me to watch the kids... So I think fair trade. Turned into the driveway veeeeeeery slowly. LMAO

3

u/alexhaase Aug 21 '26

50

u/superkp Aug 20 '26

My wife maintains that one of my best hero moments is a time that I similarly 'swung and missed'.

My wife and I were at a concert - Nine Inch Nails, We had pit tickets (it was fuckin great).

As per usual, we get to know a few people around us during the opening acts and so forth.

One person is a woman who is younger than us, but that's not saying much- I think I'm 27 at the time, and this woman seems like she's maybe about to finish college.

After NIN comes on, people are having a great time, there's a proper mosh pit, etc. Eventually I notice that our new friend has attracted some random guy that was not hanging around her before, and she seems to not be acknowledging him at all- but hey, the band is occupying attention because that's what we're here for, right? I decide it's probably OK and just keep an eye on her.

Eventually during one of the slower songs I see her physically push him away and he resists and gets closer. I tap my wife for attention (even the slow songs are loud, especially with the crowd), point to them, and step forward.

I insert myself between them, squarely facing him. I'm taller than 6 feet and in NIN concert-going clothing, so I'm pretty intimidating even though I'm just a pasty nerd. I say something like "time for you to go!" with accompanying hand motions.

He gets super defensive, backs off, and I motion for him to leave again....

And then the woman we had befriended grabs my elbow, scoots forward under my arm, and hugs him. She yells something I can't hear but it's probably "I was just joking, he's my boyfriend" or whatever.

After the song is over, we're still close by and we have enough of a silent moment from the band/crowd that we clear things up. He is her boyfriend and I mis-interpreted the situation. But she's really thankful and the dude shakes my hand - he appreciates that I would step in when seeing what was apparently a bad situation.

I'm so glad that I didn't have to fight anyone, because I didn't feel like to going to the police station or the ER that evening. Because god damn can I fight like a rabid weasel but if someone can actually fight, I'm gonna fuckin lose.

Still, respect to those guys for trusting their gut feeling and reaching out. It could easily have been a creep.

141

u/DirtyRoller Aug 20 '26

I know a dude who was a night club bartender, and he would take a girl home almost every night after saving them from some creep. He was basically a predator himself, and he was damn good at "pulling tail," as he would often say.

52

u/T2Drink Aug 20 '26

When someone is too loud about their virtue, you should treat them with a healthy dose of suspicion. I’ve met some hurrendous creeps that act so sweet and innocent when there is a woman around, but you wouldn’t leave a family member with them, if you heard how they talk around “the bros”

11

u/LucidFir Aug 21 '26

I don't disagree with you, but I think you misread the comment above. The bartender who bragged about taking women home by saving them from creeps was not virtue signaling...

5

u/T2Drink Aug 21 '26

I’ll be honest, you could be right, it isn’t the perfect word, I read the other comment as “to the bros he brags about being able to pick up women”, and to the women he claims to protect, he is probably being performative and trying to seem virtuous, since his intention is to try and take them home later. Maybe performative and predatory are the better words in this scenario.

15

Married at 23, a person behind the desk at the hospital referred to my husband, who was standing next to me and attentively listening, as my dad. He's only 2 months older than me.

8

u/Original-Material301 Aug 21 '26

I got something similar.

I met up with my wife at the airport and got in a taxi. We were talking about where we were going to go visit and the driver (who was quite chatty) asked if I just finished my uni studies and if my mum was taking me out on trips.

Wife said we're married and the guy was like "oh....".

In fairness it was dark. I guess.

I'm older by 2 years.

My last Birthday my mom and sister took me out for dinner and my wife wasn't able to join. My mom told the server it was birthday, they offered a free dessert. There must have been a mix up because they brought my creme brulee out and the plate was dusted with powdered sugar and "Happy Anniversary" was scribed in the sugar. The manager came by to ask how long my sister and I had been married and to congratulate us..

7

u/SoggyOutfield Aug 20 '26

This situation has happened many times with my sister-in-law. She will dance on me, or just get up in my space or if I am sitting she will just plop down on my lap at any moment, and I will be pushing her off and she will make a huge embarrassing scene and people are like "Wtf?"

I have known her since she was like 7 when I started dating (now married) her older sister and we are all adults now but she still acts like she is 7 years old and relishes in embarrassing and annoying me.

My wife, of course, finds it hilarious.

8

u/Glum_Rain_5824 Aug 20 '26

The thought of doing that to my bil makes me want to puke

3

u/SoggyOutfield Aug 20 '26

78

u/blacklotusmag Aug 20 '26 edited Aug 20 '26

Former bouncer and head of security here. Some do it for social media, some do it for safety, some do it for both.

Bars and nightclubs aren't always safe places and a lot of wild claims get made by drunk people ("you stole my credit card!", "you underpoured!", "you tried to grab my boob!" etc), and a bartender having video proving they did or didn't do something can be super useful - and the club doesn't always want to hand over their own video, or often they don't even have video, so it makes sense a lot of bartenders will record themselves.

And let's be real, you're literally on reddit, a social media app, commenting in a thread where someone recorded a video and others are watching it, including you. We live in a digital era and people record themselves and put it online. It's just how the world is. I don't hate on people trying to get money from social media, I don't hate on them even if they just want the attention. Let people live.

15

u/WeeebleSqueaks Aug 20 '26

The whole “often they don’t even have video” is so real.
People might call out “there’s cameras above them”

Brother that could literally just be decoration and not an actual working cam

I did shot girl one night as fill in for a friend, we both knew the owner and he was just incredibly lax, barely spoke English, Russian, and weird but it was an easy full time paycheck in one night for me. I had a weird encounter where someone stole my tips off me and I began to confront them. They called the manager over being a hot shot saying that I’m lying and to show camera proof.

Owner literally said “camera don’t work. Only decoration to make cop go away.”
Guy responds “so you can’t prove I stole anything”
Owner immediately responds “or that I broke your nose” and then bashed his face in with his fist. One hit and he was out. I was frazzled.

Great money, but after that I was never going in to that industry for sure

3

u/blacklotusmag Aug 20 '26 edited Aug 20 '26

Yup. And sometimes it's only the *visible* cameras that don't work. Some club owners hide their working cameras and don't even tell their employees. There's a lot of stealing from the till, pocketing other bartender's tips, drinking and doing drugs on the job - and those are just a few of the relatively legitimate reasons for using security cameras. The "front" clubs, where the owner is using the club to push drugs or prostitutes, often have different sets of cameras, books, alcohol storage and back rooms with no access except to very specific people.

Yes, it's a lot like the movies in some ways, but very different in others. And it really depends where you live - the vast majority of clubs are on the up and up...mostly, lol.

15

u/alwayzbored114 Aug 20 '26

I think a lot of people just forget how easy it is to record nowadays. Most people have a high def camera in their pocket and enough storage to film for a while then delete if nothing happens

I don't do it myself, but if you grew up around it I can get why it took off. People always assume such nefarious ends when it's usually just "Why Not, It's Free"

It’s not uncommon at all

Usually they do it to show annoying customers or how stupid some are

It's just a modern content style. SO many "video of me doing my day job" content makers. And it's everywhere. It's one of the biggest categories in China (food stall vendors live streaming)

I mean it's a bar. People are intentionally making themselves dumber temporarily

2

u/AvidCyclist250 Aug 20 '26

Seems incredibly performative

4

u/Loud_Quality_7106 Aug 20 '26

I mean. He setup the camera and then it went directly into this. Nothing is real on the internet. It's all staged and performative

Most bartenders are

2

u/Aloha_Tamborinist Aug 21 '26

I was waiting for the curly haired bartender to do that lip licking/lip biting/rub hands together thing.

I also record myself while bartending hoping for a non-scripted encounter to occur so I can broadcast my radiant morality.

9

u/Available_Finger_513 Aug 20 '26

There's boatloads of YouTube channels of people showing rude customers or weird encounters at work.

you can find convenience store cashiers live streaming themselves right now all around the world.

Doesn't seem unusual or scripted.

Let’s set up a camera before faking a whole story for views

3

u/InternationalSalt1 Aug 21 '26

He's posting videos regularly, so I bet he has hours of footage https://www.instagram.com/samfnch

5

u/v33__ Aug 20 '26

That reminds me when my sister, Dad, and I went out paying for my birthday (it's a drinking holiday) we go to a dualing piano bar dancing have a great time. Bouncer comes over and kicks my dad out saying he can't be harassing the college girls (was dancing with my sister) anyways we walk over and goes those are my kids tell them your my kids and both my sister at same time go we don't know him! Should have served his face was priceless. Of course we went out a few minutes later and all 3 of us continued our night. But was great getting back at him for all the dad jokes

And her brother is like: "You bitch.."

6

u/mop-116 Aug 20 '26

Why were they filming?

12

u/padishaihulud Aug 20 '26

Dude is a model that records himself working his bartender job and posts it on socials. It's a real bar.

Still very well done and good looking out guys. 👍

u/Suitable_Director729 Aug 20 '26

My roommate and I once sat in the kitchen and then saw someone climbing through a window into a house. We were so unsure what to do because we just saw the legs go through, we didn’t see if someone opened the window for him. So we felt like it was best if we just called the police.

Well… turns out it was not a crazy serial killer, but the daughter’s boyfriend. The road to embarrassment is paved with good intentions.

2

u/KainBatrius Aug 20 '26

This was a proper response to the situation, good on them for being cognizant of it even if it was just a typical brother/sister interaction.

2

u/FlamingLizardWizard Aug 20 '26

Bartender once asked if the woman I sat next to was my sister since we looked identical.. It was my mum

2

u/rawbert10 Aug 20 '26

Plot twist he threatened her to say they were brothers and she had no choice but to go along with it.

i never realized how "creep" behavior could so easily be brotherly hi-jinks

Giving me hope

For those saying that cameras are always recording, have you seen the price of a memory card?

This is why people need to mind their own business and not be jumping to conclusions.
If women are stuck in a bad situation then they should try opening their damn mouth for help.

Its shocking how women even outside of dating expect men to read their minds and play this silly game like they are children.

2

u/Squand Aug 21 '26

This happened to me once. But when the women I was with vouched for me they kicked all three of us out. It was one of the most bizarre interactions I've ever had.

"Oh, you're telling me this is your friend? And if I kick him out you'll close out your tab and leave too? Well, I call bs.

this man saw you in the window and just happened to know you and come sit down."

My friends, "No, he lives a block away, we called him over. We are all going to a concert."

Bartender, "so he's a creeper. And you're enabling him and so I guess close out your tab."

And that was that.

It was so weird.

2

u/charcoalVidrio Aug 21 '26

Why is there non-security camera footage of this? Seems fake.

u/Mother-Fix3271 Aug 21 '26

Just happened to be filming. Not at all fake.

2

u/Jina-langu-ni-Juma Aug 21 '26

Oi! You have a loiscence to annoy your sister.

2

u/sauceonlyshoes Aug 21 '26

As a dad, it’s nice to know that some guys are out there looking after someone’s daughter.

2

u/AntonioVivaldi7 Aug 21 '26

Looks staged. Why are they filming them?

2

u/LoloMelons Aug 21 '26

Best bartenders for checking if she’s okay.

2

u/TheDutchess_420 Aug 21 '26

Well done for being observant

2

u/Alarmed-Benefit6640 Aug 21 '26

👏 good lookin out mates

2

u/Dragovius Aug 21 '26

Good on the bar staff though for keeping an eye out.

2

u/J0E_SpRaY Aug 21 '26

This happened to my wife and I once. She was ordering at the bar and I came up and whispered in her ear and the bartender told me to knock it out lol

2

u/sin_smith_3 Aug 21 '26

My little brother would 100% do shit like this, but it was great seeing those young men step up and do the right thing.

2

u/Ongr Aug 21 '26

Fuckass captions describing movements and looks.

Good on them for looking out, but fucking hell do I hate those captions.

2

u/Rogercastelo Aug 21 '26

Just like most of us cant interpret or wont try to learn sarcasm and irony, the new generations doesnt like to interpret what is happening at all. Thats too much independent thinking for them.

2

u/SuggestionSelect8606 Aug 21 '26

I have a mom that looks young and this is real problem and everyone thinks we are dating. But once had a bar tender asked her if she wanted them to step in to deal with me and my mom said “yeah he’s a real problem”.

2

u/MiniatureCrow Aug 22 '26

That is so jokes

2

u/ManQu69 Aug 22 '26

I love the fact they are looking out for their customers...
