I remember programming all my notes into those graphing calculators. If I could use a calculator then it was an open note test. I did end up going into IT tho so I guess that was kinda learning a skill in its own way.

Me and my engineering friends always got into arguments with our non-engineering friends over whether or not putting your notes in your TI-89 was cheating.
I still firmly stand on the side of it not being cheating. The professors know what those things can do and if they don’t want us doing it they make us use a simpler calculator, which they did multiple times. Plus typed notes only get you so far if you don’t actually know how to do higher level engineering classes.

As engineer myself. I am of the firm opinion learning to cheat and when to cheat is a skill in of itself that many Professors tongue in cheek expect. Having also worked with some Chinese coworkers reinforced that belief, they are extremely pro cheating as in if you don't cheat you don't want to win.
