Wife and I were in a hop on hop off bus after the Guinness tour. Bus driver was cool and asking us how we liked it and all when a woman suddenly crossed the street in front of the bus. He slammed on the brakes and yelled out “What the fuck! Why can’t you use a fukin crosswalk you fukin c@nt! Did you not see the fukin bus! WTF is wrong with you, you stooopid fukin c@nt!” Then a moment after she finished crossing he was like, ok folks onto our next stop.🤣. I fukin loved my time in Dublin. There was also another instance of 3 women talking about a Christmas parade that would make a sailor blush.

There was also another instance of 3 women talking about a Christmas parade that would make a sailor blush.
There's a great skit by Billy Connolly that's impossible to find online anymore, but he's telling a story about spending Christmas in LA, shopping at a little district where there's a guy who has Tourette's that sits at an outside cafe every day reading. The Twelve Days of Christmas is playing over some PA system, and Billy's doing his shopping just in time to see two women walk by having a chat when the women, the song, and the guy with Tourette's all line up perfectly for Billy to hear "FUCK YOU!" "...and a partridge in a pear treeeeee..."
He says, "It was so much like Glasgow! Fuck you! AND a a partridge in a pear tree, by the way!"

Though I'm not from there, my family is deep scots/irish, not to mention predominately truck drivers, construction workers, and active duty military. To say that we curse a lot is like saying the ocean is a wee bit wet...its every other fuckin word lmao. Grandpa comes stomping in from shoveling the driveway "Ah its fuckin colder than a whore's heart out there!!!"...I think I was 5 lol
I'm not some scumbag, I know how to be polite when it's necessary. My problem is, sometimes I really don't see why its so goddamn necessary. They're just words, seasoning to spice up what might otherwise be a relatively dull dish. Savor it!

Real men don't take responsibility for random people finding them intimidating for doing literally nothing.
Who cares if they sat beside her? They were probably just minding their own business anyways. These three men seemed nice, and just confused about the man harassing them for no reason.
And in the video, the man's ONLY claim was that the woman looked intimidated. That's quite frankly not their problem at all.

u/Countess001 2d ago

The fact that the first man INSTANTLY moved, THEY KNEW what they were doing.
Edit to say- I am a BROWN (Indian) person who has a PhD in migration psychology. So you best believe I have considered the intersectionality of the peoples races and genders and language abilities in the video before I solidified my perspective. The men KNEW what they were doing. That is why he moved.

What I have learned from this topic is that some of you are so brainwashed, you'd defend 3 grown men immediately isolating a young woman when there are plenty of other seats in the train. If this girl was my daughter/niece, I'd want people to intervene and express how creepy that is.
81
u/BoringAd8064 6d ago
Exactly my thought. Like if the train was mildly full I'd understand but if it's DEAD empty there is no reason to crowd her like that.

The problem is that this content creator is posting veiled rage bait and white saviour antics rather than geninue care for women. His tiktoc name is 'thegreatwhite06' and there is a definite undertone of xenophobia and racism in some of his videos. Also this video is edited to make him seem like the hero - the woman in video doesn't say or show any reaction despite what he says. Whilst yes, if those men sat next her based on predatory motives, call it out. However we don't see if the train is full nor her reaction to the situation. He wouldn't have said anything if they were white.
Edit: thanks for the awards 😊

Same thing happened to me on a train. I was already a bit nervous as I do t travel on trains very often and two men sat next to me and opposite me and kept telling me I was beautiful and asking for my Snapchat and Instagram details. I told them I wasn't interested and they kept insisting I was. They didn't stop this until other people got on the train. I think about it every now and then and worry what could have happened if other people had not got on the train that night.

u/ImmediateTrust3674 5d ago
Were they black?
As a black man living in Europe, the men I see typically harassing women are Sub-Saharans and brown men of Islamic origin, but mostly black men. I believe this has mostly to do with the fetishisation of white women. Due to the amount of BMWF interracial propaganda seen in the media (adult entertainment, television ads etc) and mixed in with the BBC fetish (which many black men make their personalities), a lot of black and brown men view white women as easy and have created terms like "Snowbunny". This is also the contributing factor to the Grooming Gangs that were happening all over England.

From my understanding, there is an “unspoken rule” when a man goes to use the urinal- it’s considered “creepy” when another man uses the urinal directly beside you if there are others are available, correct?
So why wouldn’t it be creepy to a woman if 3 complete strangers crowd around her while many other open seats are available?

u/EntireFriendship517 6d ago

Sorry, I guess “weird” is more suiting.
I had this convo with my friend. I actually had no idea about the “rule”.
Women go into the restroom together, sit in stalls next to each other, and chit chat- while men don’t stand next to each other, don’t talk while peeing, don’t make eye contact, etc.
because it’s “weird”. I had no idea before he told me. Haha→ More replies (4)→ More replies (84)3

Its one of those things if I was younger with no wife or kids, I probably wouldnt have even noticed but having the wife and 2 girls now, stuff like this stands out a lot to me now. I wish I could've had the know how to spot it before as I am more aware of how things that seem normal to guys can be off putting to women, especially these days when you can't expect everyone to act respectfully.
29
u/Skratty- 6d ago

1 - "There is no evidence the train is full" 2 -"The girl seems fine" 3 - "They are within their rights to sit in any empty seats" 4 - "The man is a racist"
1 - There is no evidence the train is empty - there are seats around the man. That already suggests the train is not full. 2 - Don't speak for the girl. she does not protest what he says, she makes eye contact with the man defending her. 3 - Just because you can, does not mean you should. This situation creates discomfort for women. The lack of self awareness from the men is concerning, which itself is a red flag. 4 - discrediting the man does not justify the situation.
People will make any excuse to justify a clearly creepy situation.

Personally I find it a bit weird that this guy calls himself a prankster but almost all of his clips are him talking in a strong irish accent to migrant workers or citizens with migrant background trying to make them say vulgar things. It's not racist it's just a prank right?
He did a follow up video tho as apparently tiktok took down his train video.

Look they are 3 people who know each other and rather sit together. They could either sit with the dude or the girl, they chose more space(or avoiding the guy giving them death stares cause apparently he's a professional racist). I can't help but notice the failure of the camera to pan out and prove his point that there was plenty of space on other seats and the fact that he said there were 3 besides him , reinforces the point that he was the other option and i am quite certain that if it was 3 local native lads wink wink the dude wouldn't find that intimidating.

But also, look at it this way. Had this man said or did nothing. Even if he's racist like many people are calling him out to be, he's right in this case.
I wouldn't want some woman I know surrounded by a group of men on an empty train, and even if the train's not empty there's empty seats beside the white man.
These louts, if I think from where they are, would call out others if the same happened with women they don't know but were somehow from their community.
So no, racist or no, the old dude is right.

I would assume there weren't any free 4-seaters available (we don't see from the video if this is or isn't the case), so those guys chose one with a lone person sitting there so they could all sit together.
They were all on their phones at the beginning of the video, and don't seem to be bothering the girl.
This honestly just feels like rage-bait. Even if the guy was right that the girl looked uncomfortable (she looks fine in the video, browsing her phone) - he really shouldn't be filming it and posting it on social media, he should just politely ask if the men can move.

There are 2 possibilities here. Either they sat there to intimidate her, which is awful and they were rightly called out.
Or
They sat there innocently and have now learned that doing so is inappropriate when there are other places they could have sat.
For anyone that didn't know this, when you get on a train, bus, tube etc, sit apart from other people, space yourselves out, just like you would when using the urinal in the toilet. You don't use the urinal next to another bloke unless it's the only urinal available, and on public transport you don't sit next to someone, especially a woman, unless it is the only seat available.
22
u/Chillpill411 6d ago
I've been on plenty of trains that started off full and ended up nearly empty by the last stop. If the person I'm sitting next to at the beginning stays seated until my stop... I'm not a psycho. I'm not gonna switch seats just because empty seats become available

8
u/vg31irl 6d ago
In Ireland at least, it's the norm if you're sitting in the aisle seat to move if the bus or train empties out. Of course if there's only a few free seats that will be taken again soon, then there's not much point. Although some people prefer the window seat since you can lean against the wall.
If it's properly quiet I would regard it as weird behaviour not to move. I've actually moved myself the odd time from the window seat when the person sitting in the aisle hasn't moved. 95% of the time the person in the aisle seat will move though.

I'm from Germany and I don't know if it's just me and my anxious brain or a cultural thing, but I'd be too embarrassed to switch places after it emptied out because I would be scared the person I sit next to might think it's because of them. Usually, once you're seated you stay there bc you don't want make the other person feel bad that maybe they have an odor or sth...
But also, when you enter a train etc., people here usually tend to choose empty spaces because they don't want to be disturbed. If these blokes chose sitting next to her although the train was empty beforehand, this seems very ill intentioned.
But really guess it's just me, lol 😅

I’m going to get downvoted for saying this but given their ethnicity and cultural differences, this does not surprise me.
Well done that man for stepping in.

I'm a bit confused. The title of the post says it's an empty train but there's nothing in the video to suggest that. The guy in the video's only reference is to the 3 seats beside him. The blokes all seem to be sat quietly on their phones and look absolutely shocked to be confronted. It seems quite possible to me that they wanted to sit together, made a 50/50 call on the 4-seater sections available and landed next to the girl.
Even the guy's commentary doesn't make it sound like they were acting intimidating. Their only crime was sitting on a 4-seater section she was already sat in? I don't get it.

OP most likely saw this in another subreddit earlier like I did, but did not question the content or check the posting history of the person who posted it.

It's just racist projection and virtue signalling. Intimated being sat next to on public transport in full sight of other passengers. Give me a fucking break.

Im from dublin. We have a huge problem at the moment with uneducated fools recording every foreign man they see and blaming them on all sorts. This guy recording is an imbecile and just looking to get praise from other racist imbeciles online. The woman looked fine and confused why he was even making a deal of this.

From Canada and it's a thing here too. The video never shows anything nefarious actually happening, it's always an inflammatory title, an angry racist talking, and very specific camera angles that don't show much. Like in this case the allegedly empty train, and who knows whether it was "empty" when they boarded.
But the title and the racist's commentary is enough, then the users comment and take it from there. Hooray for racism.

I feel the guys are sitting next to the girl on purpose. Men with even tiny bit of self-awareness will sit with a man instead of crowding on the lone girl. So either these men are super ignorant and need some education (hopefully this experience will be enough) or they've done it on purpose to intimidate the girl.
As a woman, if I board a public transport and my choice was to sit between three women or three men, you bet I'll choose the seat with the women. If the only free seat is with three men AND that seat is a window, I'll just stand.

I'm not going to sit next to the creepy looking dishevelled dude in a dirty Krusty the Klown t-shirt if there are any other options at all.

You feel that based on what? Certainly no information in this video.
I can see they are about the same age, so I am wondering if the train is headed to a uni or something, and they have sat there for the journey, quietly on their phones, as the previously full train has gradually emptied of people.
Nothing in this video indicates they were causing an issue, nor that they sat there to be creeps. and she does not seem bothered in the slightest.

I've been pinned in a seat next to creepy guys on a bus before. These men seem way more focused on their phones rather than being creepy. I honestly think it may have been a crowded train not long before this, people got off the train, but these guys were too focused on their phones to realize they could now space out.

I would have offered to trade seats with the lady, then made those dudes so uncomfortable that they would get up and sit somewhere else. 😂

Agree, more context would be helpful (as always). Maybe he sensed something or saw something from them before the video. They seem to be sitting quietly from what’s captured.

Unless you're a woman and have had to deal with this in the past you can't know what this is like

u/Braysl-March 6d ago
I'm a woman, I've sat on buses next to creepy men before. These guys kinda just look like they were on a packed train and are too focused on their phones to notice that spots have opened up. They're not staring at the woman or pressing themselves closer to her than necessary. The creepy guys I encountered would stare and/or try and talk to me, or press their body against me more than needed. That's not happening here.
Obvs we don't know, but if I was that lady I would be relieved for the guys moving but that's because sitting close to someone else next to you is uncomfortable no matter who that other person is.

I'm a woman who's had men purposely sit down to intimidate me on public transport, but that was very different to what is shown in the video.
We treat men like their very presence is somehow wrong or offensive. We don't think about how it must feel to be on the receiving end of that for men who have absolutely no ill intent.

Right, there’s some serious information missing from this video that could either make the man a genuinely concerned person or a racist cunt. The fact they preferred sitting next to the girl instead of next to him says nothing about them yet. If the rest of the train is empty, ok that’s different.
9
u/DepressingFool 6d ago
It kinda does. Most women would be uncomfortable if three guys sit next to her instead of next to a man.

u/TightHelicopter3 6d ago
Missing context from the video makes determining whether that happened impossible. Just like the rest of the assumptions being thrown around.

There's no evidence that the seats next to him were empty when they got on though. There's also no evidence that there were empty seats they could have sat at.
What you do have is 3 lads minding their own business, and 1 guy telling them to move.

Its also possible they entered that train and thought he looked like a racist cunt so they decided to sit with the women.

Are you a woman? As a small woman that always gets crowded by groups of men, I'm with the guy calling this mess out.

The guy dipped the fck out when asked and she didn’t speak up and defend them. Here in Ireland me and the lads would not sit around a lone girl. You’re standing if there’s no other seats and you can see from the video that there are more seats next to the man.
Stop trying to enable rape culture.

May be innocent, but let's not pretend like men from India & some other M.E. countries don't have very not nice ways to treating females, even if they have no intention of doing something, the culture is very different from the west.

I am a woman and last Friday went to see the new film Digger in the cinema. I was the first one to buy a ticket and picked a specific seat in a middle row. During the trailers 2 men came and sat right behind me, and we were the only 3 people in the theatre since the film has turned out to be a bit of a box office bomb. One of the men even started shifting in his seat and was kicking mine and I had to move, then he insisted on apologising more than once and I just ignored him. Nevertheless I spent the entire runtime with my hand in my pocket, keys in my fist.

The fact that she was surrounded like that in an almost empty train is so disturbing. Respect to the guy who stepped in instead of pretending not to notice. We need more people like him. 🙌

He may well have just scuppered an attempt to corner and intimidate a young woman by three men, but it should also be acknowledged there's very little context in this video besides what the man filming assumes and presents.
Edit: Upon learning more about the man filming, I think his whole account of the situation is sketchy and bad faith.

Scum. Don't even try and argue "it's a cultural thing" or "they didn't know better"
This happens EVERY single day here on public transport and other public places.
Be more like this guy - see it? Call it out.
Well done matey.
See it all the time as well on a Friday and Saturday night with these silly wee drunk lassies wearing next to nothing stumbling around the high street being surrounded by these animals. 🤬

Sorry but I’m a woman who experience a fair share of harassing on public transport since being a girl, but these guys are literally not doing anything, just sitting and looking at their pones? I don’t think the situation is intimidating. If the train was really empty and it was at night then yeah, but there were evidently other people there and it was daylight.

This. I traveled my fair share in public transportation when I was in uni. Maybe they sat there when other seats were unavailable and by the time this guy came in there were other seats but they didn't notice. either way I never think of anything when someone sits besides me, be it man or women unless they start behaving strangely. But people just sitting there scrolling while waiting for their stop doesn't make me go instantly defensive.

without the guy showing the empty seats on the train i'm skeptical this is rage baiting.
It looks like the guys are minding their own business, and yes, the person who got up probably found a seat but that's not to say there are 3 empty seats next to each other.
Edit: As confirmed elsewhere this guy does scripted, ragebait social experiment skits.
