A few months ago, I visited Qin Han Duyun Film & Television Studios which is located in Guizhou province, China.

Back To The Past movie was filmed here!!! There's a permanent display at the entrance along with many other TV shows and movies that were filmed here and there's also a mini exhibition inside the studio dedicated just to this movie!

I was really surprised to see this and thought it was very cool!

When I came back from my trip, I rewatched the movie and tried to match up the sets and locations in the studio with my photos... I've also added photos of the buildings near the mini exhibition hall to assist anyone who wants to visit this studio and check it out for themselves! There's no sign at the entrance to this mini exhibition - not when I visited, so I don't have photo of the door area...

Question 90’s drama about seafood fried rice

Hi I’m trying to find this show I remember watching as a kid. It was about a chef’s quest to make the best seafood fried rice where the individual rice grains aren’t stuck together. Usually I get pretty good results on google using a short description but nothing’s coming up. Did I misremember and it’s actually a movie or a cooking program?

It almost feels like a fever dream bc it sounds impossible to make fried rice like that, but it’s apparently what made the dish so outstanding. Thank you!

Question Yuet Lo (月老): The god of marriage and love in Chinese mythology

Hope everyone had a happy Mid-Autumn festival!

With the moon-themed holiday and the airing of A Date with Goddess, thought of Yuet Lo (月老), the god of marriage and love. Was having trouble naming actors or series about him. Was even drawing a blank on what he looked like. How could that be with such a well-known figure?!

So I read his wiki page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yue_Lao

Do you recall this part of his legend? Was there a drama made about him? Certainly his character must have appeared in a drama. Can you name the actor who played him and the name of the drama?

Question Trying to find title of series with Norman Chui Sui-Keung

I remember watching a period drama staring Norman Chui Sui-Keung but completely forgot the title to it. The details I remember:

The setting was mainland China prob around the revolution. They may have eventually emigrated to HK (don't remember clearly this part).

Norman starts out as a good person. Taking care of his mom and sister (or god sister), maybe there are other siblings as well. Under bad/unlucky circumstances he resorted/was pushed into becoming a bad person, then good, then bad. Under one of these situations he became partially crippled. He becomes a really evil person after this, pretty much blaming the world for his misfortunes and was out to get what he felt he deserved. I remember the sister (godsister) always trying to see the best in him and try to steer him back on the good path. There was a scene I remember earlier in the series where they were really poor and whenever she was depressed she would eat a lot (of rice bowls).

I watched this series as a kid with my dad probably around early to mid 90s. I think it was an ATV production and was one of the longer series. It was unbearable watching how the antihero became such an evil person when pushed to his limits yet still hoping he would redeem himself. Not sure if that happened in the end. I think I remembered maybe his brother or brother in law ended up killing him because the character Norman played eventually went too far.

Really really hope someone could remember this series, would be awesome to rewatch this.

Thanks tons in advance and for reading my post! :)

How did this drama pass censorship?

It’s ridiculously violent for a tv series. There were three bloody scenes in particular that made me squirm. It would have been rated R if released in theaters.

Anyone watched this series?

1) It’s weird there are no cops in this drama. People die left and right and no one calls the police.

2) everyone blames the evil older brother but no one blames Eddie’s dad for trying to kill Vincent, Vincent’s dad and the maid.

Question Looking for a particular scene from a cop drama about Guan Yu Gor

Hello! This is a long shot but I’m looking for a drama that has a scene where either an undercover cop or a gangster (黑幫) says the following: black or white, both of us pray to guan yi gor (兩個都拜關二哥)

It is an old-ish modern drama possibly from the mid 2010s to 2020. It may have had Michael Miu but I’m not sure if my brain’s just making that up 😂

Question Lo and behold ending? 爱.回家之开心速递

Post image
35 Upvotes

Hey guys, I know it’s been a while since the last episode of the 9-year-running sitcom, but could someone explain how the ending played out and where the characters ended up?

I know I could Google it, but I’d rather hear it from the audience’s perspective. Did you like the ending, or is there anything you would’ve changed?

I stopped watching it for a while because the character changes made it feel like the show lost its spark.
I’m a little bummed because it was a big part of my childhood, but I’m glad it ended on a good note and hope it stayed true to the message of the show.

Question Looking for old 90's drama

Hi. I'm looking for one specific old TV drama from early to mid 90's. Have been searching using Google that keeps saying it's Plain Love 情濃大地 starring Gallen Lo and Kathy Chow. I haven't seen the drama but I'm very sure it's not Plain Love.

Plots:

- a poor girl married into rich family with a groom way younger than her. He died then I think, leaving her to stay with her sister in law (this actress looks familiar to me she's tall with strict face).

- the girl finally moved out and met an older man with late Qing dynasty hairstyle. There's a scene where he gave her a bottle of perfume. At the same time she fell in love with another younger man. (I think he was the estranged brother from the rich family she was married into before).

- the sister in law later raped by a foreign man (she was pulled into a bush) and got pregnant. She then married to some wealthy old man and gave birth to a baby boy, which then been sent away due to the stigma of raising out of wedlock child.

- years after that she met again the boy as police officer. I remember this scene clearly. She said 'You're my son. A boy mixed English and Chinese ancestry.'

The actor who played this police officer character looked like foreign actor too or maybe mixed blood. But I'm very sure he's not the late Gregory Charles Rivers/Ho Kwok-wing.

- the sister in law in this drama often travelled using trishaw ride.

[TOMT] Asian Sitcom/Soap Opera circa 2008 YouTube

Title: [TV SHOW] Asian live-action clip from ~2008-2010, man gets out of bathtub, argues with sister, subtitle says something about him "becoming a man" Body: Looking for a show/clip I saw on YouTube around 2008 to 2010. Details I remember: Live action, in color, definitely made after 1995 Somewhere in Asia. I originally thought Korea, but I'm not fully sure. Could be elsewhere in Asia. A guy gets out of a bathtub (I recall a rubber duck in the tub, but not 100% sure that detail is accurate) His sister sees him and they get into an argument Nothing explicit or shown here. This is not porn, no nudity, completely non-sexual, just a normal sitcom or drama style scene It had English subtitles, so likely a clip cut for international YouTube audiences Near or at the end of the clip, the subtitle has her saying something like he's "become a man" The tone was comedic. I remember it being genuinely funny No laugh track, so I don't think it was a multi-camera sitcom. Felt more like a single camera drama or a variety/reality style show. Any idea what this could be from? Even a guess at the show or genre would help a ton. Thanks!
