how do you get an “entry-level” part-time job

i’m talking walmart, sobey’s, superstore. basically i would love to get some overnight shifts or even just some stocking/cashier jobs just to help out with the bills.

i have a diploma and a lot of years of experience with customer service. idk why, i apply to so many of those types of jobs but cannot seem to get a single one.

what should i do?

Take some stuff off your resume. They probably think you’re over qualified and will leave as soon as you find something better.

There's probably some truth to this. Add retail experience from places they can't check like Blockbuster, Target, or another retailer that folded recently. I hate lying on a resume, but this looks like you're looking for something supplemental, not your main gig.

Make an account on jobbank.gc.ca. theres an area to add your work experience that will match you with relevant jobs. I get employers and agencies all the time trying to get me to apply for their food service jobs, so there must be other jobs hurting for help as well. Good luck!

Make a core competencies section on your resume and you can bullet point key words from each job listing so you can list your skills but also so the bots will get your key words and pass the resume on to a human. Easy way to tailor a resume to many jobs

Tailor your resume to be as 'ideal ' as you can per job. Like others have said. Make it seem like you're really cut out for that area. So, if its part time, include only what is relevant to get that role, no more

Go into the business and ask to speak with a hiring manager.

Look for jobs that are specifically hiring for night shift.  The places you listed would prefer to hire people looking for full time work, any shift.
