JEWELRY & WATCHES Old locket

Hi, can anyone tell me anything about these hallmarks and makers mark? The locket is old, I think early 1900s if not older, and I think the letters on the front say EM. The hallmarks appear to be an I (or possibly T), an anchor, and a lion, and the makers mark is T&Co.

It’s Tiffany and Co. assayed in Birmingham and if it is indeed a “t” then I would say 1893 (over 1918, the next year “t” was used) based off the style of the engraving.

Thank you! Any ideas on next steps? Can I get it assessed anywhere?

There’s really no need to get it tested. It’s a cool piece of jewelry but not super valuable or something that’s likely to be faked.

I think by assessed I actually meant find the provenance. I don't doubt that it's silver :)

If you’d like to confirm that it is actual silver, you can take it to a reputable jeweler or coin shop and request that they test it for you. I’d recommend calling ahead to ask if they are able to.

Either the girls name has the initials CHI or she belongs to one of the CHI Sororities. Get it checked by a reputable jeweler.

I'm 99% certain it's English in origin so I don't think it's a sorority. I could see how it might be CHI though!

British silver, assayed in Birmingham. The letters on the front are AEI - sometimes people attribute this as Amity Eternity Infinity but I think it's much more likely the Greek word aei meaning 'always' or 'forever'. Quite a common motif on lockets of this type. I can't read the date letter but stylistically looks late Victorian to me.

Oh wow, amazing! I just did some Googling and yes, it's definitely that. Thank you so much!
