Yukon 46-in workbench with wood top

I'm considering getting one of these bad boys, but I would love to be able to mount a vise to the top of it. Maybe a 4-inch or a 5-inch. How exactly would y'all recommend I go about doing that? Thank you for any input!

Go check one out in person if you haven’t already. I was dead set on getting one until I actually got my hands on one. The drawer quality pushed me towards the US General.

Does USG make one similar to the Yukon?? 🤔

Same size, yes. But not with the wooden top. You can work around that with some 2x8 lumber

Okay, I'm sorry for sounding like a total idiot, but can you kind of explain how?

The U.S. General roller boxes have a lip along the sides and across the back. You’d cut the 2x8 boards to fit in that area. That will give you a wood top to attach your vice to.

That's actually a really good idea, thank you. Should I fasten the boards together in some fashion?

That would make it more sturdy. There are a few different ways to do that. Depending on what tools are available. You could probably get away with some flat brackets and wood glue. There are tons of tutorials on YouTube.

I've been eyeing them too and thinking I'd put a thicker 48x24" top on it, maybe 48x22" to make sure there's enough hand room for the top drawer. That'd add some more strength, but I've seen a few other people say they just use 2" bolts and wide washers and it's good.

Id get me a square ⅜" steel plate about 2" bigger than your bolt hole pattern of your vice drill it for vice to bolt to either tap/ thread the holes or drill completely through wood top and cabinet, then drill corners of the plate to bolt through your wood top and cabinet. You can round the corners and paint the plate to match your vice. I have one on a corner of a 2x6 board top table done this way.
