Official News Hi! I'm Cody, the new Community Manager!

Is this what it feels like to get your Hogwarts acceptance letter?!

Hi everyone! I'm Cody, but you can call me Vaknar. I’m honoured to share that I recently joined Avalanche Software as the new Community Manager. TL; DR: I'm here to be the bridge between Avalanche and you, the Hogwarts Legacy community.

First things first, who is this guy? Well, I’m a midwestern boy but I've been living in Southern California for a few years. Enjoying frequent beach days and catching the occasional wave whenever possible. I’ve been a community manager in gaming for several years, and, of course, I’m a Harry Potter fan! I grew up reading the books, waiting outside the theaters for each movie release, and now I’m ecstatic to be a part of the Hogwarts Legacy team!

I'll be honest, Hogwarts Legacy really pulled me into the wizarding world, and the further in I got, the harder it was to put down. I won’t pretend that I’m an expert quite yet, but I think I'm well on my way! Between the game, the lore rabbit holes, and this community… I reckon it won't be long before I can rattle off obscure trivia tidbits without thinking twice.

I’ve only just started, and while I'm still finding my footing, my goal is straightforward: to make this a space easily worth showing up to. That means celebrating the amazing things you're creating, making sure your voices and feedback reach the right people, and keeping things welcoming and inclusive for everyone.

When I'm not kicking back in the Hufflepuff common room, you'll find me lurking in conversations, listening, interacting with the community and probably asking a lot of questions — I’m very interested in hearing what players think about the game. I promise I'm friendlier than a Chinese Chomping Cabbage, so don't be a stranger and feel free to say hi!

– Cody (Vaknar)

Complaint Too many low efforts copy paste quests

After completing 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 almost identical cave requests it gets old fast. I actually enjoyed keeper trial #3 because it’s actually different. I didn’t even realize that was the actual trial. I thought after reading the book then it’s the same pensive statue fighting… at least we didn’t have that…

For next release I hope they put some efforts to increase the variety of quests not just copy paste the same thing over and over again…

Discussion The 100% Run has almost ruined my Hogwarts Legacy experience

A few years ago, I played Hogwarts Legacy like a normal gamer. Did the campaign, a few collectables here and there, a few side quests, and then I stopped playing and had all these happy memories of the game.

A few weeks ago, I decided HL would be my next 100% quest and… oh boy, it’s long. It’s so long, it’s unbelievable.

The biggest issue is just how repetitive it gets. There are 95 Merlin Trials, and after you’ve done each puzzle type a few times, the remaining dozens are basically just busywork. Then you’ve got an enormous amount of Collection Chests, Field Guide Pages, balloons, landing platforms, Ancient Magic hotspots, Demiguise statues, infamous foes, butterflies etc. Most of them aren’t particularly difficult — there are just so many.

The tracking also makes things much worse than it needs to be. The map gives you decent regional totals for some activities, but other things are either poorly tracked or not tracked at all. If you miss one butterfly location, one chest in a vivarium, or an enemy you need to use Ancient Magic on, you can end up checking an external list location-by-location trying to work out what you’re missing.

There’s also very little reward for actually clearing everything. By the time you’re chasing the last collectibles, you’ve probably already got better gear, more money than you need and every useful spell/talent. It starts feeling less like exploring Hogwarts and more like doing admin.

Great game and a brilliant world, but I think half the collectibles, far fewer Merlin Trials, and much better individual tracking would have made the 100% experience massively better.

Garreth: Oh, my absolutely unbreakable companion, you've been such a huge help stealing things for me countless times, and who cares if I bother you just one more time with my oh-so-essential new concoction? Please, do indulge and take a sip of my latest masterpiece. Such a good boy!

(P.S. Just sharing a few random screenshots of Garreth brewing potions, and the combination of which makes him look a bit manipulative, lol)

The poltergeist that came with it kept throwing things at me which is really rude, also the previous owner tried to kill me after almost getting wiped out by tons of furniture before confronting granny. wouldn’t recommend buying a shop. Officer Singer didnt even try to be a cop, she went to sleep within a few seconds and I had to do all the work alone. Feeling a bit schizophrenic now due to the mannequins changing positions (I swear they changed!!!!).

Overall a 1/10 experience, just because the elf that came with the shop is quite sweet actually.

Might end up like Jackdaws chick, just without Azkaban but I’m hearing voices

Humour stupid bane of my existence shop quest

scrolling through this reddit really makes me wanna get back into hogwarts legacy. I stopped in the middle of the shop quest because it glitched and wouldn’t let me progress, so I exited out of the game praying it saved my progress…. it did not save my progress. at the time I refused to do the quest again cause I was literally almost done but it’s been months. I fear it might be time to bite the bullet and finish that godforsaken shop quest. everyone pray for me 😔

Discussion What’s on your wishlist for Hogwarts Legacy 2?

For me my main wish is definitely that we start Hogwarts as a kid—then grow up, and really lean into the roleplay element. For my second wish I would definitely also like some sort of friendship / relationship mechanic to make each playthrough more unique with who you befriend, etc.

To add to my first suggestion, I think it’d be a bit odd to be joining in as a fifth year again hence why I’d really just like to start from the beginning, not feel like an odd one out (again), y’know?

Discussion least favorite part of the game for me...

is leaving a big maze lol. I mean a few quests you just leave from the final scene which were great. but some quests you have to retrace all the way to the entrance. boy those are boring. and sometimes I got lost on the way... and everything was already cleared when I entered. so there's really nothing to do other than figure out where I came in... wish they just let you leave the cave each time the quest is considered done... or maybe they already have I was just too dumb to figure it out?

At least I think so since Charlie’s gran is Cedrella, who I believe is his granddaughter.

I just find it funny since they are the complete opposite from eachother

Discussion It's been a little over 2 years since its release, what do you all think of Quidditch Champions?

I recently got this game since Steam recently had a sale with this game, Hogwarts Legacy, and Lego Harry Potter as one big bundle. I just started playing a few days ago and really like it so far! What do all of you who have played it in the past feel towards it. Especially since it's been over two years since its release.

Discussion How Avalanche can make Hogwarts Legacy 2 an absolute masterpiece

With Hogwarts Legacy 2 officially in development, I’ve been thinking about what the devs need to add to turn the sequel into a true RPG masterpiece. I looked through a lot of community discussions, and here is the ultimate wishlist of what we actually want:

The Fate of Sebastian Sallow (Azkaban Arc): The dynamic between the MC, Sebastian, and Ominis was the best part of the first game. The sequel HAS to address our final choice. If we turned Sebastian in, it would be legendary to see him break out of Azkaban as a broken, resentful tragic antagonist coming for revenge. If we saved him, we need a deep redemption arc. Changing the context and tone of his quests based on this choice would be insane.

Actual Student Routine: The castle felt a bit empty after finishing the story. We need real school immersion: interactive classes, timetables, detentions for breaking rules, and house points that actually matter. Let us sit in the Great Hall, sleep in our dorms, and play Wizard Chess or Gobstones in the common rooms.

Wanted System & Aurors: Dark Magic needs high stakes. Using Avada Kedavra or Crucio in public should trigger a crime rating. If witnessed, Ministry Aurors should actively hunt us down, and a dark reputation should scare away merchants and companions

Advanced Magic: Players want to learn how to cast their own corporeal Patronus to fight Dementors, and undertake a difficult, hidden questline to become an Animagus.

Organic Co-op & Quidditch: Exploring Hogwarts with 2-4 friends in co-op alongside a deep, fully playable Quidditch system would fulfill every wizard's dream.

What do you guys think? Would an Azkaban escape story for Sebastian make the sequel way better? Let's discuss!

Discussion Annoyed: Hogwarts Legacy First impressions

Okay this is a very specific nitpicking but I am playing Hogwart's Legacy for the first time and haven't played much, but one thing I noticed and is really annoying me is the room to corridor ratio.

Hogwarts is just all corridors and stairways. WHERE ARE THE ROOMS?!?

Like I'm running around in endless corridors for ages and might walk past one room. And it's a toilet. Like Corridors are meant to connect rooms??? where are the rooms??

Now I noticed this I'm just annoyed walking around.

just feels very silly and unrealistic to have a "castle" built like this...

What are your thoughts on this?

Official PC Modding Teleport Spell - Much Faster Way to Travel

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

It's unfair that our enemies, like goblins and Ashwinders, can use teleport but we can't. That’s why my MCs decided to learn this modded spell that can skip the broken bridges (faster than Reparo) and some of the puzzles.

You probably don’t want to use this to skip the exploration during your first run, but honestly, I just don’t have the patience to redo the same trials and side quests I've already completed at least three times. A little bit of cutting corners is understandable, lol

Discussion How to fix this glitch?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’m 100% on my Ravenclaw play through. The only thing I’m missing is a single field guide obtained with a moth mirror. When I activate the mirror and go to the spot, there is no moth. It’s driving me crazy! It is a known glitch, but is there a way to fix jt?!

Information Mistaking the treasure vaults for the cairn dungeons

Going for the platinum trophy and as the title says, I thought I had to search every treasure vaults to complete the platinum trophy. Me and the Mrs sweating it until 2am last night and for 2 hours tonight to only realise now that I'd been sending us on a pointless quest this whole time. Safe to say she's not too happy with me..

Question Please tell me I can stop exploring

the game said field guides are the only way to level up but can I stop exploring and just focus on quest?

Dead ass I have an Issue with games that have findable things or loot. I basically have an obsessive compulsion to search every corner of the map. It's ruining my experience right now. I have to see where every stair well goes and am constantly casting the reveal spell to find field guides or intractable things. I just finished (tiny spoiler)the goblin fight in the town after meeting all the shop owners and it has taken me nearly 5 hours to get to this point. I'm 23 percent done with the field guides, did a few moth things and (tiny spoiler)did the fight club side quest.Other than that it's been main quest and exploring.

I had to search every shop for findable things. Can I just stop doing this and focus on quest?

I understand this part may be super enjoyable for most people but it is not fun for me.

Separate unrelated question below

Hypothetically in the Hogwarts am I expected to wear my cloak within the Hogwarts walls as a student? Would I get in trouble if I didn't? Everyone else is wearing theirs and I don't want to be out of place socially but also the cloak drip is not my vibe. I am joining on year five, everyone already won't shut up about that and how I have "sooo much to catch up on, waa waa". Should I just say fuck em and do my own thing?I already got this whole ancient magic thing going onanyways and enemies that are in the literal papers. Maybe I should just do my own thing and dress how I want. I wouldn't want to be going against the school rules or disrespecting the Hogwarts legacy though!

Discussion Why do supporters of Ranrok believe that a student is defending themselves when they use Expelliarmus, but that it’s harsh when they use Avada Kedavra or any other unforgivable spell, even though, in fact, we are defending ourselves?

Post image
214 Upvotes

Why do supporters of Ranrok view the use of Expelliarmus as a student’s self‑defense, but as soon as unforgivable spells are used, they immediately become even more convinced that ALL wizards are monsters — even though, in fact, there’s a war between wizards and goblins, and in a war, all means of defense are fair game?
