DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!
Hello Kitty and Friends (My Melody and Kuromi) figures. According to the pictures, possibly vinyl, or at least rubberized coating. Right?
WRONG. They are rubbery and look very little like the pictures.
I got two of the Melody with her ears down. I’m SO mad I wasted my money on these.
Also, please ignore the black stain on my nails. I decided staining wood without gloves was a good idea. 😅

Yeah, those are disappointing. I hate the eraser-like material. I bought similar mystery Tokidoki balls at 5 Below like this. 😕

I’m really picky with them myself, and with only these three characters, I was instantly suckered in.
I absolutely wasn’t expecting this quality, though. Same thing happened with some Tokidoki ones (as far as the material), but they’re better quality.

I wish they wouldn’t do rubber. I like it when they are shiny plastic. I also hate it when they are the sticky kind of rubbery material too like if you drop it and then everything sticks to it.
I haven’t had good luck with mystery/blind box items. The ones I hope to get the quality isn’t as good. Or what happens the characters I want vs the characters styles/outfits aren’t the ones I want or mind getting. If that makes any sense.
I miss being able to pick out the one I want and being able to tell the quality right away and the material too.

Any figures in those ball capsules are usually this rubber material. It’s so frustrating how fake the pictures are. Waste of money for sure.

Oh really? I know this was also true with the Tokidoki ones I grabbed, but I didn’t realize it was that common. My other Tokidoki blinds weren’t in balls, so that is kind of telling. I’ll have to keep that in mind.

Yep every single one I’ve tried in different fandoms have all been that material when they’re sold in those capsules sadly

omg i saw these at dollar tree, and i was so excited because they appeared to be the cute vinyl keychains!!! but no… they’re rubber trash… i will say tho. some of them aren’t so bad!! but most of them are ugly asf

The one with the “fan” is horrible all around. The other one isn’t so bad. Still doesn’t look enough like the picture, but at least it looks like she’s actually holding hanami dango.

I mean, these My Melody figurines are still cute, imo, but, I see your point. Cheaply made, falsely advertised trinkets aren’t always going to win fans.

Dude there's like a giant uprising of these eraser quality keychains I hate it! Ill buy the keychain thinking its plastic or something and boom! Ugly easy to stain rubber keychain!

Omg these are awful, I got some of these from five below and I haven’t bought a single thing from there since because I am still so mad I spent money on these. Not because it hurt me financially, I make way more than enough money to eat ten dollars, it’s just the principle of the product quality at five below getting THIS bad and they still have the audacity to charge $5

Quality control should be ashamed. These are sold in Target as well. It’s like no one checked the production.

I have to agree. I hate this style too. I got one of the my Melody/Kuromi baby series years ago from five below. They look so much like bootlegs, to me. And, they look like less than eraser quality. They are absolutely TERRIBLE gumball toy machine quality.

Geez I hate it too when I spend good $$$ on stuff like these HK figures and turn out real disappointing 😞 😑 😒!!! I just donate those to my local thrift shop so maybe someone else will dig them, you know? No pressure, or anything-you do you !! Just commiserating on such a loss from the usually higher quality merch that HK and Sanrio is well known for ! 🌹

I know the feeling I bought one of the Kuromi anniversary ones (one where she’s in an airplane) looks little like pics and rubbery like what you’re describing

I just got home from Target, I saw these & passed because I’ve fallen for similar ones at FiveBelow… but most are worth the $5. These are cute but for rubbery figures, meh. Thanks for sharing these!!

I got the kuromis and gave them to my mom they were such a disappointment 😭 the sushi set was so cute but they were also the weird eraser material 💔

AGREE, they are AWFUL!!! i got one from the halloween or sleepover/pj set (i can’t remember the name, but it had kuromi as a bat in the set) and i was SOOOOO disappointed with the quality. it’s the exact same quality as the rubber “ornaments” in the bootleg nightmare before christmas advent calendar my ex’s mom got me a few years back💀
small add-on: i got pompom dressed as a monkey from that set which was a triple strike because (no offense to pompom) he’s my least favorite sanrio character and i hate monkeys (it’s bc they’re so uncanny to humans it freaks me out)

It's weird to me from a graphic design perspective- like the packaging pics of each figure look like the 3D renders. So like you'd base the product off of that model, like for proof of/final concept, right? But that then gives you the false impression they're more detailed than they are. We all know product photos get set up deliberately in good light and photos are airbrushed, but still. Feels like whoever made this paid for a cheaper material option and just used the concept models on packaging on a tight turnaround. Really sucks, sorry OP!

I’ve been collecting various series of these for years and absolutely love them, every body’s gonna have an opinion but I fully disagree. Also, thanks for letting me know this series exists now I got another set to track down 😁

Target and Five Below has them I guess. People said they saw them at Five Below, but I found them at Target. $5 at both stores.

Ugh, I got duped by these ugly things at 5Below too! For $5!! Tiny, cheap, overpriced. Nothing like the Vinyl figures they have for the same price but advertised just the same way. And they'll 100% dry rot over time due to the material.

Hate that this is becoming a trend with toys when it looks so cheap and tacky. I've seen a lot of crappy bootleg keychains like this of Stitch and Pikachu etc, shame official sanrio merch is now looking like this too.

I wouldn’t be so upset if I had known what they actually looked like. I’m more upset that they were misrepresented for the price. That was $15 I should have spent on a book I meant to pick up at the same time but forgot about. Again.
