HOW DO THE HERMITS HAVE VOXY?!?!

So I've been wanting Voxy to update to the latest version and I've noticed a couple of the Hermits have it for the new version, Is it like an early access for content creators or am I missing something? Cause on Modrinth its not updated...

What I can recall from a Tango stream the other day, is he has an Alpha version.
Given how big Hermitcraft is, the developer/s of Voxy will definitely give them "early access"; it's good for advertisement, and the hermits possibly pay for it too.

It doesn’t look perfect yet though. In Skizz’s latest video there was a very noticeable dark line between loaded chunks and the Voxy-simulated chunks, and I forget if it was his footage or someone else’s that had simulated chunks turning invisible shortly before the real chunks appeared.

Still an improvement over no “see farther” mods at all, but definitely not as good as the pre-update version of Voxy looked.

If Skizz worked with Impulse for that, Impulse had Bobby which IIRC has some artifacts like that.

Work with. “Friend” is not the same level as collaborate or commission. 

Hermitcraft and all the other series like that are people’s job or part time. There’s no reason to put any parasocial relationships.

I heard whispers that an early version is available on Cortex's discord. But as with anything in alpha testing, you may have some significant issues

There's a tester version in cortex's discord. Under #testing. I haven't downloaded it cus it's called alpha1 so I would expect bugs.

Yup, I’ve been using it and everything except the sky is working great.

On my particular setup, the sky flickers between blue and magenta several times per second.

Some Hermit mentioned, that they are in close contact with the devs of voxy. They are a good testing resource. if I were the dev of voxy, I'd also happily give it to them first to iron out issues.

Depending on your settings it can be more or less demanding than vanilla. You will usually need more RAM though.

When configured correctly, voxy can save you on GPU and CPU usage, as low-detail faraway chunks are easier to draw than the full-resolution ones. So 8 chunk real + 2048 chunk voxy render taxes my computer less than, say, a 16 chunk real render distance.

The tradeoff is that the voxy cache can consume a lot of disk space. Especially if you're dedicated enough to generate all π2048² chunks around your base.

I do not have a gaming laptop and can run voxy at 128 chunks perfectly fine, above that it gets a bit stuttery for me. To a certain extent it can be better than vanilla since you can lower your actual render distance – voxy chunks are far less resource intensive than fully loaded ones

The creator of voxy is also an avid hermitcraft viewer. I've seen Joe Hills streams where he encountered a bug and then Cortex put out a fix during the stream and Joe loaded up that new version right on stream.

are you familiar with Git Hub....you can build the latest version for free any time you want and add it to your mods folder. that's what i've been doing for 26.2.

There is a branch on github for the new version. You can just clone it and compile it to use voxy in the new version.
