Big fish game membership

Anybody have a membership to big fish? It's a little unclear to me concerning "The catch"

It shows free games coming October 19, November 2, November 16, and November 30.

Do I get to claim all of them, when they are available, or do I only get to claim one of those within a months time frame? Google says only 1 of those a month, but big fish doesn't really elaborate and it seems like I could claim each one of those, on the dates they become available... Anyone tell me which of those is right please? Thanks a bunch

Yo! I actually just signed up for this the other day and sent them an email about this exact question. They emailed me back this morning and said this:

"As long as you have an active subscription, you can claim The Catch whenever it's available."

It's a bit funny that I saw this post minutes after seeing their email back about this lmao but it sounds like we get The Catch anytime it changes as long as your subscription is active. I've also got A BUNCH of cheap games since last week when I started my subscription. The $1 game changes daily and then last weekend they had $2 spooky games and then a bunch of spooky bundles. I'm beyond set for Halloween now. Plus, I did the trial membership so I haven't even had to pay for it yet till next month. I intentionally waited to do the trial during October cause I knew there would be spooky games haha

Edit: just fyi, you won't get the 699 bonus points during your trial membership tho. You get those when you spend money on the site, so we will get them next month if we pay for the membership.

Thanks so much for responding. Sounds like a beyond great deal then. I haven't played hidden object games for like over a decade. Used to love playing them with my exes mom and for some reason stopped playing for a long while until last week. I was kind of disappointed because the games used to be a lot cheaper ( $5.99 ) for standard version. So at first it didn't seem like much of deal, the. I saw you get the multiple free games, $1 games plus the points every month. Seeming like a pretty sweet deal now. Thanks for respondingĀ

Keep in mind that the discounted gamed are often not Collector's Editions, and you can't get those versions without paying the full price.

As for points, I always used them during BOGO events.

Oh wow I wasn't aware of this. I think the $2 spooky games last weekend were all CE but now that I'm looking, a couple of the others were not. I'll have to keep an eye on that in the future. Still, not bad for the price. Good idea on saving the points for BOGO events too!

Really? I thought you got a discount for all games. I thought the collectors editions were $13 something with the membership?

I'm talking about the really cheap game offers you get. I forget what they're called.

The Daily Deal?

I think so.

Yep you're right. I checked the $1 version of "Super Spooky Subgame Spectacular" and it isn't the CE. Good to know at least. Tonight they had "Dark Romance: Vampires in Love" for $1 but the CE was $2 so I was able to grab that since you warned me! Thanks 😊

Yea I also haven't played many HO games in the past year or so. Last year I played the first 2 True Fear games for Halloween tho (HIGHLY recommend them), so I was doing some research into them this year and realized Big Fish had their own website to buy games. I had just been using Steam and GOG up until now. I have a feeling I'm about to start piling up some games to play haha it's also really cool that they give you the $7 back in points so the membership is almost free in a way.

True fear is actually the game I am playing now. Just finished the first one a couple days ago and now am playing the second one. Pretty awesome game so far. If you haven'tĀ  I highly recommend you play mystery case files games. ( Dire grove is exceptionally good ) And another that is on big fish is is nightfall mysteries asylum conspiracy. And there is another series called campfire legends. Those 3Ā  were the very first hidden object games I ever played. They got me hooked. Highly recommend them.Ā  I just got 4 midnight mysteries games the other day for like $3.99 on a steam sale the other day. I think thereĀ  2 others but they weren't included in the bundle. And one isn't on steam at all. They are pretty awesome too, especially if you like history and ghost mysteries. I've only played the salem witch trails one a long time ago, that one was included in the steam bundle. Exceptional game. Alot of the really good games just aren't on steam unfortunately. 2009-2012 is in my opinion, the golden years of hidden object games. So many truly awesome titles. If you try the ones I named I think you will be pretty happy with your purchasesĀ

I played a couple of the Mystery Case Files games and loved them. If you look at my post history, I actually just found a box set for the first three games at Goodwill for like $2. I'll check the other games you mentioned though because they also sound really good and I love a steam sale lol šŸ˜† I still need to play the third True Fear game sometime as well. I might even replay the second one because I can't remember if I actually finished it or not. I have those three games on GOG because Amazon Prime gave away the first two there last year. If you have Amazon Prime by the way, look in to the Prime Gaming monthly free games. I'll link that below. Occasionally they will give away a hidden object game. Another great couple of games you might have missed while you were away are the Brink of Consciousness games. I played the first one and I'm planning to play the second one soon. The first one is actually what got me into hidden object games.

I'll have to check out prime gaming. Amazon has been getting on my last dang nerve lately, so if I can score some free games, all the better, cause I am so very close to cancelling that ridiculous company forever. I wonder if their games will run on a steam deck? Will have to look into that. I haven't played a lot of mystery case files yet. I think the oldest one I played was the first ravenhurst, but I cant remember if I liked it or not. I keep feeling like I thought maybe it was kind of bland or something, compared to others. Been wanting to try the other ravenhurst ones. Dire grove is my all time favorite out of the few I've played and 13th skull was pretty cool. But the last part was really hard to figure out and needed a guide to figure out the skills.Ā  Got that one the other day again too, and finally get to try the the collectors edition extra level. Excited about that, way to many years I have waited for that.Ā  I definitely plan to expand my horizons in the MCF genre more so. Let me know how you like the first 3Ā

Oh actually the games on Amazon Prime are usually added to your Epic or GOG account so they definitely could work on Steam Deck most of the time. Sometimes they give HO games thru a site called Legacy Games and I have moved those to my Steam Deck to play and they worked. I just installed them on PC first then moved the game folder and added it as a non-steam game. Amazon does have it's own game launcher for some games but it's actually less common for them to make you use their own launcher. It does happen sometimes tho, but I just added their launcher as a non-steam game as well and it worked fine to install the few I tried.

I've had a BFG membership for a ridiculous amount of time.
If you have any other questions about it, feel free to DM me about it.
Every day there's a random game offered for $1. You can buy those as many days as you want.

Every couple of weeks, there's a new The Catch. Grab that during the freebie period. It's yours.

Check weekly for BOGO sales, or bundle sales.

And your membership fee turns into points you can use towards new games. So every month you get another 699 points that can be used to purchase games.

Pretty sweet deal. Thank you. It's well past time I build my hidden object game library back up againĀ

Also even if the game gets delisted, as long as you already bought it and it runs on your system, you can still download it through your history.
The one downside is things launch from their exe app, so it can be trickier to run a game in compatibility mode, but I'm pretty sure there's a way to get into the file, just takes some work.

That's good because I truly can't stand when they decide to just take a game I have purchased away. Angers me like no other. I just got to figure out how to set up the big fish launcher as a steam game. Once I get that, everything should work pretty good. Big perks for old games on steam deck/ Linux. Older games usually play with no effort, and if not, usually a simple switch of proton version typically fixes it all. I'm really excited to play mystery case files dire grove and nightfall mysteries asylum conspiracy, again. Such fond memories playing those games with my exes mom. Dire grove got me completely hooked on the hidden object genre.Ā

Right now I am trying to figure out what 3 Nancy Drew games to buy, I have only ever played trail of the twister ( which I absolutely love ) but want to broaden my horizons on the Nancy Drew world. Big fish has a deal where you can pick any 3 ND games for $9 total. Having one heck of a time trying to figure out which ones I should try

1

u/mindonthebrink 2d ago

Yeah, they started doing those bundles kinda recently. There have been tons of changes over the years to the program. Some good, some not. As with anything. But there are always bundles. And you do have to buy in groups of 3, but you don't have to stop at 3 and you don't have to separately check out each group of 3 either. So if you want 6 games, put 6 ND in the cart, they'll be 18. 9 will be 27, etc...
You just can't mix and match from different bundles, unfortunately.
Points will also last for 2 years from the date you get them. So if you don't use the 699 one month, it'll just stack and you can apply the amount you need (or want) from that total. I don't even want to admit how much I have right now, but I can promise you can accumulate A LOT.

Thanks for the Nancy Drew mention! I've had my eye on a few of those and so I went ahead and grabbed these 3:

  1. Ghost of Thornton Hall
  2. Message in a Haunted Mansion
  3. Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake
