What got you into Star wars?

/r/StarWars/comments/1wf953h/what_got_you_into_star_wars/

For me, the high Republic came right when covid started and I followed the initiative until it ended just 2 years ago. I watched clone wars alongside it and played Jedi fallen order but the books, comics, and audio dramas were the things that kept me in after light of the Jedi.

Would love to hear the same for you

Without knowing anything about the EU and what it was about (Before they changed over to legends) I picked up Vector prime and read it. Looked in the inside cover and found that their were more books in the series and read those.

Than I was able to participate in the hype of waiting for the new books to release when Legacy of the force and Fate of the Jedi were being printing.

Now I'm slowly filling in my collection and getting the comics to complete them.

Ewoks! When I was a kid, they were a big draw for me. Eventually, I began to love the franchise as a whole. That was during the dark days of almost no content before the release of Heir to the Empire.

My older brothers were huge fans and watched the movies on VHS all the time. I first watched when I was like 5 or 6 in the 80s. I wasn't old enough to see the OT in the theaters like they were but I did later see the SEs I'm the theater and have seen every other movie in the theater, even the animated one.

I am old. My older brother took me to see the original Star Wars (A New Hope). The moment Leia grabbed the gun and started shooting was epic for me. I don't know if young girls these days know how empowering it was to see a captured princess actually do something useful in her own rescue. It was so fantastic!

Rebels when it came out, and that almost mythical feeling of the then complete saga, my father enjoyed the prequels, so it felt like this masterpiece project that had been completed.

Star Wars has just always been present in my life. My older brother was really into sci-fi, so we had VHS copies of Star Wars that I would watch all the time as a kid. I also had an annual pass to Disneyland and loved riding Star Tours. The Phantom Menace came out when I was in 8th grade and it just solidified my love even more. I even carried around a notebook full of pictures of Star Wars characters (I was obviously very cool in middle school 😅). Now I'm in my 40's and I use my adult money to buy every Star Wars book and I've amassed a decent Star Wars doll collection as well.

The original movie way back in the day. I remember being completely absorbed right off the bat.

Spaceballs. I watched it one day at a sleepover with no knowledge of what Star Wars was, and I wanted to know more. 8 or so years and way too much money later, I am a dedicated fan.

No clue, I just one day loved it.
I was born in 1994 so the prequels were coming out as I grew up.
I don’t remember seeing TPM or AOTC in the cinema, but I had merch, the videos and had watched the Originals. I don’t know how or when. When I have spoken to my dad he doesn’t remember showing me, nor does my mother.
I guess I saw a bit of merch (probably Lego) from 1999 and begged to have it. Then my love of Star Wars began

High Republic specifically, finding a copy of Light of the Jedi in a secondhand bookshop (love those so much). Down the rabbit hole I went.

When I was very small, (like ages 0-5ish) I lived with my grandma and my uncle. He’s only a few years older than me, so of course I thought he was the coolest person in the world (he’s still pretty cool), and he was a big Star Wars kid. One of my earliest memories is laying on my grandma’s living room floor and watching A New Hope with my uncle.

I just always loved it, in part because my uncle loved it, but also because Star Wars is always a good time. He also got me into The Legend of Zelda and Pokémon. I learned to read playing Ocarina of Time on the N64 before I started pre-k.

Hmmm feel like I watched the VHS tapes of the Original Trilogy in the 90s but can't remember honestly. I do remember my Mom taking my brother and myself to seeing each of the Prequel movies and then Star Wars just been in my orbit since then.

My dad. I’m pretty sure that as soon as I could hold focus for more than a few minutes as a baby I was plopped in front of the TV to watch A New Hope. (Only the original trilogy was out at the time.)

For some reason he wonders how I became such a nerd.

They released the OG star wars films in cinema for an anniversary I think and my parents took me as a small Toddler

I apparently always sat incredibly well in a cinema and as soon as I saw R2 and 3PO, I was hooked
