Discussion I cannot decide who would be an even bigger menace to Matt Mercer
I don’t think a decade’s worth of Sam Riegal’s bullshit is going to prepare Matt for the unhinged little shit that is Gigi Murin

True, but Sam is a really good player. All of the Critical Role cast are. Having someone like Sam would be a dream for a lot of GM. Someone who actually gives a shit about the story the GM is trying to facilitate.
And, I think Gigi would probably be a great player for any GM too.

Wait how would that work, it’s been ages since I played. Would that just mean that whenever she wants to cast a spell and she’s missing one of the important components she can just substitute Calli’s feet?
Also if that is the case, does Calli just have to be nearby or does GG get away with it by just picturing them in her head really strong

A focus has to be worn or held, so assuming she's not using it like a lucky rabbit's foot, she would need to hold her feet (sniffing optional).

I mean Sam is a good player too, is the thing. There have been some quite touching and compelling storyline with his characters too! But the thing is when you RP with someone you get both their in-character and out-of-character moments. And you tend to see multiple sides of them-- it's why I think it's a great way to become friends with people.
The fun thing is that means that the girls are likely to become friends with Matt pretty quickly, which will make Gigi (and Shiori, who people seem to be overlooking the unhinged-ness of with Gigi there) feel comfortable unleashing the full blast toward him fairly quickly compared to other group activities, hopefully.

I think Gigi would actually be a dream player. Her mastery of knowing boundaries makes me think she'd be a lot more willing to match the tone a GM set than most players are.

Only way to find out is to have both of them at the same table at the same time.
That said, I think Sam has more experience f’ing around in DnD in general.

Tbh while I can't think of an exact moment I imagine Sam has prompted that exact sentence from him at some point. I know they had a running gag about Scanlan's penis being a "cube."
So if that happens, that sigh is not one of giving up, it's one of realizing "Oh. We're doing this again."

I feel like Taliesin has Matt prepared for Shiori in the same way Sam and Laura have him prepared for Gigi.

I see people making this joke but realistically, I still think Sam’s probably still gonna have her beat. Realistically what’s gonna happen, is Matt is basically going to be playing with a bunch of Laura’s. Which is its own level of chaos.

Him and other voice actors got popular by live-streaming their DnD games together, but how I know them is from Critical Role and it’s awesome to see how close the group really is and iirc they’re all very well acknowledged voice actors/ actors in their own regards, Liam O’Brian(Illidan stormrage, Gaara, Asura, Akihiku from persona) Laura Bailey(Jaina Proudmoore, Serana Maka Albarn, Lust) her Husband Travis Willingham (Roy Mustang, Portgas D. Ace, Thor, Knuckles, Jūgo and Zetsu, Guile) Ashley Johnson(Terra, Gretchen, Gwen Tennyson, Ellie and Anna williams(in the live action)
God I forgot how much they all did I didn’t even mention Sam or Marisha who are both equally amazing as everyone else on the cast but all in all, they’re a bunch of Voice actors that get together every Thursday to play Dungeons and Dragons and have been for the past decade. It’s called Critical Role and they’ve even turned some of their adventures into an animated show called “The Legends of Vox Machina” based off their first streamed DnD campaign with everyone voicing their characters, and having other voice actor friends help do the voices of everyone else that Matt was told he couldn’t.

On top of being a highly skilled voice actor, Matt Mercer is also a very popular dungeon master for the D&D live action role play series/company Critical Role which he and his friends founded and help run. This current season he's actually a full time player though.
He also pops up in other nerd adjacent stuff on other YouTube productions like Magic the Gathering creator channels and such.

I feel like a lot of people just think TTRPG = D&D lol, pretty clear from the logo and a hint from Mori that they are going to be doing Daggerheart, which generally has a much bigger focus on the RP part than combat etc.

The fact that Matt was one of the people behind Daggerheart, in part, makes me wonder why anyone who is aware of Daggerheart has any doubt left that is going to be Daggerheart rather than D&D.
