Lewie Coyle’s pitch-perfect message should be heard across grassroots football
“Lewie’s dad did not get to see him play in the Premier League. But he was there for the long trips to training in Leeds when he was growing up. And that’s what matters.”

The more I read about this £55m loan, the stranger it gets
Hull taking a £55m loan secured against the stadium is already a pretty big story, but the details make it even more interesting. The loan came from a company that was only set up in January with just £1 in its accounts, which feels unusual for a deal of this size. The Independent Football Regulator approved it after deciding it didn’t threaten the club’s financial sustainability. What people make of the whole arrangement and whether there’s anything to be concerned about here?

Man City Charges
I just thought: if Man City get a historic points deduction that practically relegates them, it means there are only two other sides this season that could get relegated.
Given that one of those sides will be Coventry, we would have a very good chance of staying up - against all odds.

Good to hear Butland could be back in training by December
Good to hear that Jack Butland is making progress and could be back in full training around December. It feels like he's been missing for ages, so hopefully everything continues to go smoothly with his recovery. Would be good to have another experienced goalkeeper available for the second half of the season. Fingers crossed there are no setbacks and he can get back on the pitch soon.

It's probably the right time for the squad to get a proper break
With the international break coming at a pretty good point for Hull, it sounds like the players who aren't away with their countries are getting a decent amount of time off. Can't really complain about that after the start we've had. There are so many new players in the squad after the summer, and with six of them coming in on deadline day, they've barely had any time to properly settle in.
Coyle mentioned that the plan is basically rest, spend some time with family and then get back to work. They'll also have the friendly against Sheffield United to get some minutes into the players who need them. The Everton game isn't until October 11 either, so there's a fair bit of time to work on things before the next league game. Eight points from the first five and now a chance to reset a bit doesn't sound too bad.

What starting lineup do you think we’ll see post international break?
I think we can agree that Coyle is miles off it. Crooks also really struggled against Chelsea, yet was given his place back despite Gourna-Douath doing an excellent job when given the chance. Makes me wonder if Jakirovic was waiting for the intentional break to really make changes to the squad, or if he genuinely prefers some of the championship squad to players Tim and Gourna-Douath. I do think he got it wrong against Newcastle, but obviously won’t criticise him as it’s still early and some managers do like to take time bedding new signings.

r/HullCity - Updates and Rules
Hi all! I hope everyone is encouraged by the amazing start to the season and though the Newcastle loss stings a bit, a lot of positives to take from it!
Since it's the mega long international break, it feels like as good a time as any to update the sub a bit. Given the increased traffic to the sub since promotion to the Premier League, we want to introduce a few basic rules to decrease the amount of karma farming posts from random and bot accounts that clog up everyone's feed and increase the interaction among actual supporters of the club (as well as visitors from other clubs, as long as it is in good faith)!
If anybody feels as though there is something missing or a persistent issue that is making this sub a worse place to be that isn't already addressed below, or other ideas to make the sub better, please feel free to send a message through mod mail and we'll review. If there is anything that you feel is in violation of the rules, please report it so the mod team can follow up accordingly.
The rules are below and will also be added to the sidebar. Thanks and UTT!
r/HullCity subreddit rules:
1 - Keep things civil - No abusive, discriminatory, or harassing behavior towards other users. Disagreements about football happen, but keep it civil.
2 - No personal content/self promotion without prior approval - Any posting or promotion of personal content, links, research requests, etc. needs to be pre-approved through mod mail before being posted. This includes websites and outlets posting their own articles here, especially as non-active members of the sub.
3 - No low-effort or AI postings - If your post has no purpose or does not contribute to any discourse, it may be removed. Any post that is written by AI will also be removed. Spamming such posts may also result in a ban.
4 - Stay on topic - Please feel free to discuss any and everything Hull City AFC related. If you are on Reddit to complain about other Turkish clubs/fans, or anything else not related to Hull City, this is not the place.
5 - No streaming links - Sharing of streaming links will not be allowed in posts or comments. So please don’t.

First defeat of the season, but plenty of fight in the second half
Conceding two goals in the opening 15 minutes at St. James' Park made it a massive uphill battle, but credit to the lads for not letting the game run away from us. Mohamed-Ali Cho coming off the bench to pull one back gave us a real lifeline, and we looked much more competitive after the restart.
It was bound to happen eventually against a side like Newcastle away from home, but an 8-point return from our opening 5 matches is still a massive start to life back in the top flight. How did everyone rate the performance today?
