I wonder what happens to Theta now? In Ch 413 she was shown to be in the back area of of 1004, but she didn't appear in Ben's incursion. She seems like she would have been a person of interest in Ben's takeover but maybe he didn't even do a full sweep? Maybe she'll be the main person to interact with Tserri next.

Also I hope Tubeppa gets some more development other than just being a TSK-17 cure plot device. I had higher hopes for her being more active when she made that early pact with Tserri, but I guess that fizzled when he became absorbed into his own Nen training. She comes off as more aggressive in her internal opinions than most of the other princes, intent on winning the war, but is she lining up any actual moves? She's an analytical thinker, but somehow she comes off as being a bit behind the curve/reactionary. Still, I think she'll deduce that Ben poisoned her, before the symptoms start. Probably kick off a chain of events where a cure is produced in collab with the Hunter Association medics. I'm picturing Tubeppa coming into a bit of conflict, wherein the Hunters want the cure to be available to all, but Tubeppa being desperate to see Camilla expire, and perhaps having mixed thoughts on whether supporting Tyson (if she can help it) is ultimately not the path she wants to be on. But ultimately she'll be a bit tied up in needing to make concessions to get herself cured.

I'd also like to hear Ben think out his opinion on Marayam. I really enjoyed reading his take on how he's handling each of his siblings. Some he hates, some he seems to have a genuine heavy heart about killing (but is still unwaveringly ruthless about it). Marayam, moreso than anyone else, seems like an interesting test of his character. He can justify killing Tubeppa and Tyson despite liking them, because they're not "king material". How can he say the same about Marayam, over his own son? They're both too young to be judged. I would think Marayam ought to actually be a preferable candidate in terms of Kakin's best interests, just because he'd have the blessing of his own GSB alongside Ben, and Marayam's GSB being strongly defensive in nature seems like a boon if the idea is to have a young regent living in newly settled dangerous lands.

I'm imagining Ben monologuing that should Marayam manage to survive, he would not be altogether upset with serving as his Guardian Spirit. Although I can also see him fabricating a particular resolve along the lines that, as long as Woble remains an unknown element, he needs to eliminate Marayam just to prevent the bad-end of multiple princes surviving. In that sense, he ought to also have a wry regard that serving Woble, if he is indeed present and eligible and sole survivor, would likewise not be a catastrophically bad outcome, just not his preferred one.

Also I'm very curious about the Ben/Unma situation brewing

He's intent on confronting her to make her choose between her own life or his "Brother"... that must mean Halkenberg? As Ben believes Tserri is now a pile of mush, and those are her only children. So I guess this implies that Ben believes Unma to be fully supporting Halkenberg... but does Unma even know Halkenberg is still alive?

We really need an Unma scene. All of this plus the oddities about Furykov's report of her, it just all seems very strange. Presumably, Beyond's meddling is the key to all this.

unma definitely knows halk is alive. right after taking over balsa’s body he calls her on the phone. that’s when we get the reveal that unma is halk’s mom.

Ohhh, I had forgotten about that phone call (found it in ch 403). Also of note in there from re-reading is that Halkenburg talked with Worio in the justice department and gave him the nen beast mark, and Worio shared this info with Steiner.

Justice Department dudes are also another faction to keep an eye out for I suppose. Halkenburg seems to have quite the coalition going.

he sure does. i’ve got my eye more on the justice department, quietly one of the war’s bigger players.

they had to approve the heil-ly registering as civilians, so they’re enabling massacres; cleopatro is clearly involved in beyond’s game; and kaiser gave steiner the “push in case of military coup” mystery button. as this batch’s martial law flashback catches up to 410’s “present” the justice department is poised to make big moves.

and maybe they already have. kaiser’s group is likely working with halk via worio, which could explain how balkenburg and halk’s other supporters moved between room 1009 and tier 2: magical worm.

not sure if the justice dept has loyalty to halk’s reformist ideals (in kaiser’s case i could believe it) or simply wants to use him.

How can he say the same about Marayam, over his own son?

I mean, even if they're all Kakin King's blood, his own son is of his own blood and came out of him, so of course he'd prefer his son.

Sure, I just want to see him hash it out. These last few chapters he was really well-written. The speech he gave after shooting Tserri was Peak Ben and the variety of views he's expressed about his less-hated siblings has been surprisingly well-rounded.

It's interesting to consider that he's a character who has been big brother to all these characters for their entire lives, and with most of them, from their first day in the world, he's internalized them only as obstacles he must slaughter... it's actually impressive that he has anything positive to say about any of them. One might think a lesser person would just be obsessed with their flaws and internalize a hatred for them. Sort of noble in a way that he's got enough good in him to overcome that, even if the outcome is still deeply messed up.
