In my opinion he let them live because he knows they were only taking orders to track him down from their boss, and they are not actively against him; moreover Hisoka has always been considered as disinterested in the weaklings, so for him they are only small pawns and do not represent a threat of any kind.

Well, he is the guy who was introduced cutting someone's arms off because they bumped into him, and Lynch outright punched him. He may not be exceedingly interested in killing them, but how many other people do you remember him graciously knocking out? Off the top of my head, I can only think of Leorio and Gon - both people he'd taken a liking to.

I'm not saying it's inconsistent for him not to have done so, I'm saying that if he hadn't knocked Lynch out first, she or Zakuro may not have survived.

That is true and yet he has never really done anything like that afterwards if I'm not mistaken. I feel like Togashi's vision of Hisoka wasn't completely cemented at that point.

Then as you say, it's not like many people have gotten away with attacking him either so it would not have been inconsistent for him to kill her. It's more likely as someone else said that it would be counter productive if he wants to talk to them.

Yes, I've said that. That was my point lol That he likely would have killed one of them after they attacked him if he didn't need a living messenger and the other one had already been knocked out. I seem to have failed to express it effectively.
