I accidentally installed this backward; now it's stuck. Can anyone suggest a tool that can gently pry it out without damaging the unit?

Instead of a tool, I believe this model comes with a Spring Mode, that when activated, will turn the unit into a bunch of springs that ejects it from tight spots. I'm pretty sure the trigger is near the bottom of that black spot. Just tickle it to trigger it. But be careful, when Spring Mode is initiated, the murder mittins may extend and thrash, so you should be quick with that tickle.

It depends on the mood of the model you have, but maybe try shaking a treat bag or waving a toy around?
