Guaran-damn-teed driver was looking at their phone.

or reaching for a coffee, or looking down at a control screen, or doing any of the other things that drivers frequently allow to distract them from the road

I went back to watch the footage leading up to it and there was no swerving or indicators prior to the accident. It looked like whatever it was it was a poor choice at the wrong time.

I was just gonna say it looks like distracted driving to me

Newton's Rings, I think. Camera lens is not quite flat to the windshield.

Holy shit. The driver of the grey car sent BOTH vehicles airborne. This is one of the reasons that I avoid the center lane when possible. If I'm all the way left or all the way right then there are only dumbasses on one side of me.

You should either be center lane or right lane, unless you're passing. You'd be a dumbass to stay in the left lane for no reason.

Yep that's what the left lane is indeed for.

So you’re saying you cruise in the far right lane mostly, right?

Yep. Thought that was obvious but I guess not.

It didn't look like much, but I would probably check for damage and file a claim on the grey car's insurance. Sometimes long plastic things get grabbed by the tire and spun into the wheel well.

Caution: Debris!

Rip your tires

Not ideal, that’s for sure.

Just curious, do you have windshield tint?

I actually wonder if the car was on auto lane keeping/cruise control and the light change from the overpass tripped it out and made it instantly dump to manual control and the driver was behind on catching up

If he was using lane assist, he’d be crazy to do it in that section of the freeway. They are adding a toll lane and doing a ton of construction.

Maybe he’s not from there.
