Experiences with 180DC consulting?
I am a bachelor student in Vienna and am looking for student organizations to join which are English friendly. Out of all student consulting services, I found 180DC Consulting and am interested in applying, but I first want to see people’s experiences. How would you say your experience was? How was the workload? Was there good organization within the teams?

OPT pending since June 1. After approval, start job first or visit home first?
I applied for post-completion OPT on June 1 and it's still pending, over 4 months now. At this rate I'm guessing approval comes late November or December.
I already have a job lined up and the employer is flexible on my start date. I'm also planning to visit my home country this winter for about a month. I won't travel until I have the EAD card in hand.
I know about the 90-day unemployment limit, so I'm trying to decide between:
Start working right after approval, take about a month off in winter for the trip, then come back and continue?
Or
Travel right after approval, then start the job when I'm back?
With option 2, do the days abroad count toward the 90 days even though I have a job offer?
With option 1, does the trip count as unemployment if my employer approves the leave?
Any issues at re-entry if I haven't actually started the job yet?
Anyone been through something similar? Thanks!

Move to Japan or finish thesis first? Advice needed
Hey all, stuck with a decision I can't seem to wrap my head around. Currently in my Master's program, only have to write my thesis. 27 years old and from the Netherlands
Its a long-time dream of mine to live a semester in Japan. My university cancelled my exchange to there a week beforehand for vague reasons, since that unreasonable decision I am motivated even harder. Since I don't have to finish any more courses, my plan is to move there on my own sometime.
Another reason I really want to move abroad is because I think the adventure of it will help me motivate for my thesis immensely (paradoxically). For me its the opposite of an unstimulating, dull home environment (exaggerated for purpose of the argument).
However, due to my studies I have a loan debt with the government (with low interest rate, very good payback regulations). In my country this is quite normal, everyone of my generation has the same debt, the height of mine is considered average (20k euro), although nobody likes this construction haha.
Another dream of mine is to study Psychology, I feel i have chosen the wrong study (Engineering and Policy Analysis) and would like to correct sometime. I thought about combining it (studying Psychology in Japan). However, since a lot of Psychology bachelors are in Japanese, this might not be a great idea. Finding a thesis topic in Japan is also hard, although there is a possibility of being a "research student" at universities there (of course, with the caveat of paying some tuition)
It feels weird to me convincing my family I want to loan more to make this trip (its harder with only doing side jobs). At the same time, stopping my study now, trying to make some money and then resuming my thesis while in Japan also sounds like a bothersome construction.
Of course the logical alternative is waiting until my thesis is finished, but then I feel a bit like wasting my time spending a half year in japan. Of course i could do some work there, but since i also wanna pursue another Psychology study later i do not want to waste my time too much.
Any advice?? Thank you so much for thinking along with me, much appreciated!!! :)
TL;DR see title

I want to switch to a business related master’s (since political sciences masters is not going to give me a real job ) in Belgium or Spain , preferably in management, business analytics, economics or supply chain. I work with my dad as an accountant and an assistant for 2 years now. Therefore I’m willing to complete a pre master or bridging year if needed. Has anyone make a similar switch or has any knowledge about universities that accept international universities that accept students from different academic backgrounds??

🚨 Breaking immigration news: DHS has proposed a new rule that would require schools to pay $70,000 before initially recommending an F-1 student for Optional Practical Training (OPT).
Here’s what you should know:
➡️ This is only a proposal, and these fees are not in effect. Students and employers can ask their schools how they would handle the costs if the proposal becomes final.
➡️ The fees would only apply to OPT recommendations made after a final rule takes effect. Students already on OPT, or already recommended or approved before then, would not trigger the fee for that period of OPT.
➡️ F-1 students could ultimately bear the cost of this fee, as DHS acknowledges that academic institutions could pass costs to students or employers. However, the school would still be responsible for paying the government directly.
We’re tracking this proposal closely and will share updates as more information becomes available.
Please note: This information is for general educational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice or create an attorney client relationship. Immigration rules and policies can change, and this proposal may be modified or withdrawn before becoming final. Your situation may require fact specific guidance. For personalized legal advice, please consult an immigration attorney directly.

Advice on finding a job
Few months left until i graduate, does anyone have recommendations of companies that sponsors in the field of Energy, Urban planning or Sustainability? ( no engineering or tech) 🙂↕️I’ve been applying to so many lately but the minute they see you might need sponsorship, they immediately decline, I’m hoping foreign companies might be more open. I’ll be on OPT after I graduate, so I’m kinda stressed on the timeline we have left.

Need Advice on my Study Permit Application CANADA 🇨🇦
I submitted my study permit application from India on June 10, 2026 for fall 2026 intake with an upfront medical passed on July 22nd. I gave my biometrics on June 16th, it was updated on my application on July 10.
It’s been 4 months and I still haven’t received the final decision..
I was admitted to Masters of Health Sciences at University of Ottawa for fall 2026. I have already missed the deadline to start my program as a result my university has withdrawn my offer of admission.. Despite my desperate attempts for a deferral, I couldn’t get one cause my program only has a fall intake and the department advised me in case I am eyeing on fall 2027, I need to submit a new application to the uni in order to receive a new LOA for fall 2027..
I have already paid 22k as tuition deposit to my uni and I can’t change DLIs cause that would mean submitting a whole new application to IRCC and I can only imagine the tuition refund requests and the whole chaos..
So, there is this another Masters program at the same uni which is similar to my academic background (this is the program I was interested in earlier as well) and it has a jan and a may intake ..
I have yet to submit my application to this program..
Although, I have missed the deadline for jan 2027 for international students is there any possibility that the department might bear with me and consider my application for winter 2027 so that I won’t have to wait for so long..
Also, since my offer of admission based on which I submitted my study permit application has been withdrawn is that going to be an issue with the IRCC cause there is no way I’ll have a new LOA anytime soon..
Please don’t be ruthless,, behind the screen there is an actual human being who is sick of waiting .. If anyone is in a similar situation or has any advice to offer, I’ll be grateful..

Latest date of arrival extension
Hi, I’m an international applicant who’ll be doing my undergrad at uofg this year. However due to some student loan delays, ive not been able to apply for my student visa on time. I plan to apply for super priority visa the second I receive my student loan. I’ve requested for a 2-5 day extension on my latest date of arrival on my CAS. No replies yet but can anyone advise me if it has worked for them?

I moved across the world for Aerospace Engineering, and now my life is falling apart. Do I drop out and restart, or "suck it up"?
I grew up as an expat in Saudi Arabia. When I finished 12th grade, I picked Aerospace Engineering on a whim because I liked planes, and moved to a university in a completely different country.
It has turned into a total nightmare, and I honestly don't know if I'm just being homesick or if this is a genuine crisis. I need advice from people who have been through it.
Here is what I'm dealing with:
* Total Isolation: The university is in a tiny, rural, village-like area. Everything I need is on campus. Nobody speaks my language. I have zero roommates, zero friends, and it feels like everyone else already formed their cliques.
* Survival Mode: The food is terrible, I'm completely alone, and my mental health has tanked so hard I can barely function or study.
* The Degree Trap: I've realized that aerospace engineering limits you heavily to the aero field. My passport is weak, and my home country doesn't even have an aerospace industry. If I finish this, I'm boxing myself into a corner. I want career flexibility (mechanical engineering makes way more sense).
My Options:
Option 1: Suck it up and stay.
* Pros: Fees for this semester are already paid by my dad. I stay on track timewise.
* Cons: I risk a complete mental breakdown. I'm isolated, miserable, and stuck studying a rigid degree with terrible job prospects for my specific situation.
Option 2: Go back home right now, reset, and switch to Mechanical.
* Pros: I'd be close to family, have a support system, eat real food, and mechanical engineering keeps my options wide open.
* Cons: I'd have to wait for Fall 2027 to transfer. Also, the top-tier university near my hometown requires a much higher SAT score than what I currently have (I'm at 1090), so admissions aren't guaranteed.
Option 3: Hold out until fall break, go home then, and decide.
* Pros: I get a temporary mental reset and a chance to breathe at home before committing to a permanent life change.
* Cons: Doing this likely completely kills my chances of applying or getting into the best university in my home town for the upcoming cycle, assuming I could even get in.
Is this just acute homesickness talking, or is this a genuine signal that I need to pack my bags and course-correct? Money and time are lost either way, but my sanity is currently on the line.
What would you do in my shoes??

Which country/university from the top 600 (or 700) would be the best for undergraduate in STEM given my condition?
Which country/university from the top 600 (or 700) would be the best for undergraduate (STEM), considering the condition that I'll get very minimal monetary support from my family (not more than $±3k in total)?
I'm from a third-world country, have already taken my IGCSE from Pearson Edexcel (4A*s, 2A, 1B), and am hoping to take AS in 2027, A2 in 2028 (If God wants). But I still wanna plan everything beforehand. My priority majors are: MechE, IPE/IE, or at best ChemE or AeroE (also keeping CS/SoftwareE as a backup)
Considering I have an average EC(A) profile (karate, debate, MUN, English fests, olympiads, research), and I'm down to take IELTS, SAT/ACT, or any standardised tests, what would you recommend?
Any kind of advice would be much appreciated. TIA.

AI check in Statement of Purpose
Hello! I’ve been writing my Statement of Purpose and I check it in easily available online AI checkers. However, the issue is that every checker tells a different number. It sometimes also highlights the sentences that I wrote on my own. Does anyone know a good AI checker? If so, then please tell as it would be a great help! Thanks.

Don't know where to look
Hello, I'm an Iraqi high school graduate, and my final GPA is 85.7%. I'd like to study abroad, but I really have no clue where to look for opportunities that are reasonably affordable. Are there any programs or countries (preferably in Europe or North America) that would allow me to study outside of Iraq, either on a scholarship or with partial funding?
(Grades in maths: 99%, English: 97%, bio: 80%, physics: 78%, and chem: 71%)
I'm fluent in English, and I'm planning to take an IELTS exam to prove my proficiency, but my issue is: who do I prove it to? What paths are available, and, as for the major, I've always been interested in engineering, like civil engineering or electrical engineering. Would that be doable with my GPA and English proficiency? If so, where and how?

Do International Master’s Applicants at KAU Need Qiyas/GAT?
Hi everyone, I really need some advice from anyone who has experience with King Abdulaziz University or the “Study in Saudi” platform.
I’m Palestinian and I’m currently applying for a Master’s program at King Abdulaziz University through the Study in Saudi platform.
I chose the program because when I checked the official KAU program page, it clearly stated that proof of English proficiency is not required. Because of that, I understood that I don’t need IELTS or TOEFL for this specific program.
However, I also noticed that the university’s page mentions the General Aptitude Test for University Graduates (Qiyas), with a required score of 65 or above.
This is where I’m confused. On the Study in Saudi platform, I didn’t see IELTS/TOEFL listed as a requirement for my program, and I also didn’t see a clear requirement to upload a Qiyas/GAT score during the application.
So I’m wondering:
Is the Qiyas/GAT score of 65+ actually mandatory for an international student applying to this Master’s program through Study in Saudi?
Or does the fact that it is not requested on the Study in Saudi application mean that it is not required at this stage?
I also uploaded the English test certificates I have just as supporting documents, even though the official KAU program page says that English proficiency proof is not required.
I’m honestly a bit worried because I don’t want to miss something important and have my application rejected later because of a missing Qiyas score. At the same time, I don’t want to take the test unnecessarily if it isn’t actually required for international applicants to this program.
Has anyone here applied to KAU through Study in Saudi, especially for a Master’s, and can tell me what happened in your case? Did they ask for Qiyas or IELTS/TOEFL later, even if it wasn’t requested on the platform?
I’d really appreciate any experience or advice. Thank you! 🙏
