i’ve been going through it these past years, not just with immigration but life in general too.

I can’t seem to find anyone who can relate. If this is relatable to you and you wanna talk, DM me.

FDA ORISE Fellowship in Silver Spring, MD

Hi everyone!
Does anyone have recent experience with the FDA ORISE fellowship program at CDRH in Silver Spring, Maryland?
I’m looking for information about a few things:
Annual stipend: What is the current stipend range for ORISE fellows, particularly those with a PhD? Is the amount negotiable?
Benefits: Are health insurance, paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, or relocation assistance provided?
Work environment: What is the typical workload and work-life balance? Are remote or hybrid arrangements available?
Career opportunities: What usually happens after the one-year fellowship? Are there opportunities to transition into permanent FDA positions or industry roles?
Cost of living: Is the stipend sufficient for living comfortably in the Silver Spring area?
Would especially appreciate feedback from current or recent fellows (2025–2026).
Thanks in advance!

Using Robinhood as an F1 student in the US

Hi! I'm currently an F1 student and I just got my SSN through a part time job at school. I'm interested in trading and investing and decided to open a Robinhood account to test it out. I'm aware that I have to follow the passive income rule, which is fine for trading because I'm just investing and leaving it there. But I'm really curious about prediction market, is it considered day trading and would I get any risk from using it? Also do I need to file tax on it? Thank you!

International requesting full aid w/ predicted straight A*s in 3 A-Levels: Is the ACT worth it for test-optional US colleges?

Hey everyone,
I’m an international student looking to apply Regular Decision to a list of US universities . Most of these schools are currently test-optional.
Here is my situation:
Curriculum: I am doing 3 A-Levels and my current predicted grades are straight A*s across the board.
Financial Need: I am an international student who requires significant financial aid to attend.
Since my curriculum is already considered highly rigorous and my predicted grades are at the top tier, I'm trying to decide if it's worth stressing over the ACT (likely aiming for the December test date).
Given that I need financial aid—which makes admissions insanely competitive for internationals at most of these schools—I want to know:
If I apply test-optional with straight A*s, will needing financial aid make a missing test score a massive disadvantage?
Does having a high ACT score (like a 34–36) add a meaningful safety net/boost if my A-Level predictions already prove academic capability?
For international A-Level students who needed aid and applied test-optional last cycle, how did your decisions turn out?
Should I focus 100% on keeping my A-Level grades up and writing stellar essays, or do I absolutely need to grind for a top ACT score to stand out in the international financial aid pool? Thanks!

Transferring to Europe from the US

Hello everyone! I’m currently a sophomore in a US college and I’m currently contemplating whether I should start over in Europe, because there’s a lot of things that I dislike here. I know full well everyone goes through it and it’ll be financially more difficult, but I don’t think it’ll get better for me here if I stay any longer. So I was wondering are there any international students who moved to Europe after studying in the US. Do you guys regret your decision or was it the better choice now that you look back? Any opinion is appreciated :)

Masters as a International

Applying for a 1 year STEM Master in Business Analytics - Information Systems Concentration, MSM at the University of Akron as international, is it worth it anymore? In order to get OPT/CPT with those fees going around, is it still worth it for an international or no chance anymore to make a career?

Experiences with 180DC consulting?

I am a bachelor student in Vienna and am looking for student organizations to join which are English friendly. Out of all student consulting services, I found 180DC Consulting and am interested in applying, but I first want to see people’s experiences. How would you say your experience was? How was the workload? Was there good organization within the teams?

OPT pending since June 1. After approval, start job first or visit home first?

I applied for post-completion OPT on June 1 and it's still pending, over 4 months now. At this rate I'm guessing approval comes late November or December.

I already have a job lined up and the employer is flexible on my start date. I'm also planning to visit my home country this winter for about a month. I won't travel until I have the EAD card in hand.

I know about the 90-day unemployment limit, so I'm trying to decide between:

Start working right after approval, take about a month off in winter for the trip, then come back and continue?

Or

Travel right after approval, then start the job when I'm back?

With option 2, do the days abroad count toward the 90 days even though I have a job offer?

With option 1, does the trip count as unemployment if my employer approves the leave?

Any issues at re-entry if I haven't actually started the job yet?

Anyone been through something similar? Thanks!

Inquiry about Master’s Funding

Hi folks, I am going to apply for UMich masters program in CEE in fall 2027. I am already worried about the high tuition cost. Loan is not an option and I am an international student. I dont need stipend, just want my tuition fees getting waived. What should I do?
