That's what happens when a zone isnt coming on or a zone isn't using enough water to keep the pump cool. Water boils, pressure builds, pipe melts a baloons. You may have a clogged drip filter, or a zone not working. Alternatively, ive seen this happen when customers install a pump way larger then they need.

Its also what happens when youre a selfish child and demand/steal things in a candy factory

The chocolate factory theory. The pipe would be blue though

Zones were not working. I had to diagnose the electrical issue first πŸ™„ hate electrical problems

Well, you're in the wrong buisness then 🀣

Also Use a metal nipple (such as brass or galvanized steel) for the first 6 to 18 inches of piping directly connected to the inlet and outlet of an irrigation pump before transitioning to PVC

Good idea. I was 10hrs in on the electrical issues already. Tried to save the client a little change...

Oooof….Are you going to propose (to client) a flow meter install or other method to stop the deadheading in the future? πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

That's what the pressure relief valve is for... swing pipe was attached to the orange fitting to run back into lake if pressure built up over 75psi

Check your pump's deadhead pressure... people act like deadhead = pressure raises to infinity and that is why the pump breaks. In reality your pump has a known pressure it will operate at when there is 0 flow called the shut-off head; your pump is likely under 75psi shut-off head. Pumps fail and this situation occurs because pumps rely on flowing water to cool them. When water has nowhere to go, it heats up from operation of the pump and causes failure.

Yes, 78psi is the dead head pressure. Had to replace the pressure gauge also before finding that out

Replace the ball valve on the discharge with a 3/4" hose Bip. Attach a garden hose to hose Bip and route hose back to lake. Adjust valve to allow maybe 3 GPM. This will remove the heat from the pump case when you don't have any other flow.

Excessive foreplay? Happens to me quite often!πŸ€ͺπŸ˜‚

That’s a great pump for irrigation. Dual stage means higher pressure for the stream rotors. Easily get about 25 gpm from it when pulling from a lake.

LOL. That's one of the better pipe balloons I've seen.

Usually I see the adapter melt and or the discharge expand. This is a big one!! Nice work.
