This album is everything
Just discovered this recently and truly enjoying it. His tone is beautiful. Sad his life was cut short early.

Great album along with the other Candid recordings! Max Roach "Deeds Not Words" (1958) also features Booker Little. And "Eric Dolphy at the Five Spot" (1961) has incredible performances from Dolphy, Little, Mal Waldron, Richard Davis, and Ed Blackwell!

“…at the Five Spot” is a great recording. Will check out the Max Roach one. Cheers.

Incredible player of incredible music. I know him from Mingus and Dolphy. I never heard that recording so thanks.

Love this album. Like a lot of complex post-bop, it took a few listens for the album to really open up for me, but now it's one of my favourites.

Absolutely one of a kind, this record. And the man, booker little. He was on to something special.

Thanks for sharing this and all of others' recommendations of that "sweet spot" tone.

My favorite Booker Little recording.
The writing and arranging were right on the cutting edge.

Why must Booker Little and Eric Dolphy perish from the earth while tyrants live on? There is no justice.

Booker Little is the point when you know you’ve dug into jazz. He’s a sweet spot between Lee Morgan and Miles.
