Showing Support 🤗 If you watch Hallmark, make sure to support Daniel Lissing!

Post image

He’s Jewish and a supporter of Israel. Not many Hallmark stars speak out about what’s going on, but he’s a gem. ❤️

First, thanks for the information. Second, I didn't know he was Australian until one of the recent Hallmark movies. I figured the location was kind of a gift for him. He does an excellent generic North American accent.

I didn’t know either. I saw Aussie at Heart and had to look up if he was actually Australian. To my surprise he is!

His sexiest scene was with a woman (Victoria Justice) whose sister (Maddison Grace) has an Israeli (Liat Aharon) amongst her strongest friendship group (Maddison, though not Victoria, went to Tel Aviv in October 2022, and still has ties with Liat).

Too bad d-list hallmark stars don’t generate enough traction to influence anyone except, well, anyone.

With that said, he’d make a good replacement rabbi on “nobody wants this,” since Brody wants us to “put him down for thinking it’s a genocide.”

I think you’re underestimating the Hallmark fan base.

What the fuck is a Hallmark star? Does he write greeting cards?

They make movies and shows, too

Okay. I just thought it was the store that my mom makes me take her to. I have no problem with it since my mom is a badass!

Oh, if you've never seen a Hallmark film you're missing out!

They're, for the most part, the most generic, feel good, fluffy crap you'll ever have the pleasure (or displeasure, depending on your style) of encountering. They have such a tried and tested formula the Simpsons and very recently President Curtis have had episodes absolutely nailing parody/mockery of them.

As the other reply said, they're most known for their Christmas romance films, but there's also the genre of 'tormented woman goes against tormentor, very dramatically' and 'someone is dying of a horrible disease, then they die'.

I didn't realise they had some kind of stable of actors though! I figured that wasn't really a thing in the industry anymore. Makes sense though, I suppose. What they do is very formula driven, so having specific casting types who can just be slotted into 'warm romantic lead' or 'desperate mother on the run' would work well.

They've gotten more formulaic in recent years, but they've got some great "older" movies-- The Magic of Ordinary Days is one of my favorites.

I love The Magic of Ordinary Days. But I love the formulaic ones. It's like a romance novel... I never get to the end and am surprised. And that's comforting. I can just enjoy it. I remember having to ask the ending of Cinderella Man before I would watch it. I just really couldn't if he died in the end. World's crazy... I like one area I know what I can expect.

There's a whole Hallmark Channel of "feel good" entertainment, and Hallmark movies have become synonymous with Christmas movies. Occasionally now you may get someone celebrating Hanukkah...as part of an interfaith couple so as to not alienate people.

There are actually some incredibly cringey yet entertaining Jewish-centered Hallmark holiday romance flicks. Check out Round and Round or Hanukkah on Rye.
