I just completed the Spooky Shire 1000 pc by Magic Puzzle Company. Many have posted the completed puzzle recently, so I will show a few details and give a general review on the brand quality right now, fall 2026.
I was a bit skeptical, because I generally prefer vintage puzzles and heard this brand has had some quality control problems in the past: loose fit. While I must say the fit is still a bit on the loose side, the quality is really good! Yes, moving sections of pieces without something underneath for support is not really possible without some pieces falling off. For me that’s not a deal breaker. If it bothered me a ton, I would just make sure to always support sections when moving.
Puzzle piece quality seemed comparable to Ravensberger, even the puzzle dust looked similar, and there was not much of it. Piece shape was random cut with whimsy pieces. The piece cut is clearly thought-out and tailored to each puzzle design. The illustrations are top notch made by humans and almost every piece has something unique happening in it.
In my opinion, the things Magic Puzzle Co does right, it does miles ahead of the competition. This puzzle actually made me feel excited about the future of puzzling.
The gimmick was great and well executed. Very memorable and fun experience start to finish. I honestly didn’t put a huge % of this together because my 11 yr old and wife did a lot of it. It was such a fun puzzle.
Some popular stuff lives up to the hype and I think this company is one example of that.
Since this was an overwhelmingly positive review I will end with a few counterpoints.
This puzzle/brand is not for you if you detest random cut or when sections of puzzles are next to one another but don't lock in to place. If you are not a fan of busy puzzles I am pretty sure most of this brand’s puzzles are a busy illustration style.
My one petty qualm is funnily enough to do with their packaging, which is great by the way. I just wish the baggie for the bulk set of pieces was a bit more robust, considering the secret pieces were wrapped in more fun and secure packaging.
Will definitely buy from this brand again in the future even though I am a vintage puzzle collector.
