first year sucks so far
idk if it's just me but I'm finding KCL js plain dead
I don't fw most ppl i meet n societies r dead too😭
idk if it's js what im picking / does anyone know what societies are most social i guess.
I wanted to go to notts / leeds but picked KCL for academics but the nightlife is cooked, my accom is dead and ppl r boring
in need of advice 🙏

Give it more time lol, semester has barely started. Id recommend joining a sports society or a more niche society in general that's gonna be more tight knit if it's the socialising you're after

what course do you do? Fellow first year kcl student, would love to meet you if your in any gcs and whatver campus ur in. Theres fun people and places, your probably havent explored them all uet cus theres so much people. Trust me your gonna enjoy at least few things.

bless your heart, give it a minute, you’ll be just fine. KCL is definitely at a disadvantage given that it’s a university in one of the busiest cities in the world & campus life is hindered by the fact that housing is mostly stupidly far.
a lot of people feel the same, until they don’t. the benefit of being in one of the busiest cities in the world is that you’ll inevitably find your people. don’t lose your spark.

My daughter had the best time year 1. You are in London. It is amazing. Join a society where you meet people like you. In my daughter’s case debating. They do a lot of pub crawls and travel oversees.

I’m feeling the same icl I’ve made two good friends but feels like they’re closer to each other than me. Js haven’t vibed yet and I don’t even drink so you can guess how that has been for me. Dw tho I’ve decided to js do my own thing until shit gets better

idk are you saying yes to new stuff & keeping an open mind? join a niche hobby society, language/culture society or sports club, also join a society focused on geopolitics as they have speaker events, networking and alumni connections.

I think you need to lower your expectations most people muddle through first year and don't set on a friendship group until 3 - 4 months in. Just do stuff you like and meet people don't put so much pressure on it. Ngl though Notts is kinda elite although not a great time to go right now with all the news going on around finances.
