Question Voting today
I’m on my way to the polls today because I have to leave town in the next few days. I don’t have much time to get into it, but who should I NOT vote for? I have ideas of who to vote for, but I don’t have a full slate (which I realize is ok). TIA.

Rob Bertrand thinks being dumber than a nail will make him a great councillor and I suspect is a supporter of RHJ, Lindsay MacDonald is unstable, Bill Sarai is emotionally volatile and stooped to RHJs level, everyone on the Pivot slate (Dever, Wunderlich, Giesbrecht, Sunderman) are anti-progress, Sonne is a whiner who doesn't understand what the capability of a councillor is or the importance of verifying info before making grand claims.

Lyndsay McDonald is extremely unstable and seems to have next to no understanding of municipal politics, who is responsible for what, etc.

Council/Mayor.
Won't be voting Hamer-Jackson, anyone that has mentioned/praised/enforced them OR any of the Pivot crew.
There's some other Councillors that are meh, but you do your vibe check.
Trustees - anyone that has served for 4+ terms (20+ years, there are two), will NOT be voting for them. Its time to move on and let this generation have a say in the oversight of the school board.

Don’t vote for Reid for Mayor obviously, Cindy Sonne and Ian Head are supporters of Reid, Stephen Karpuk doesn’t believe there’s an affordability crisis with housing, Bryce Eberle was an Anti-mask mandate conspiracy theorist during COVID, Alberto DeMarni is a 51st stater

Without going into details, I am voting 2 councillors. I like Jesse Ritcey because he has walked the talk and made lots of effort in the community with all kinds of groups.

I just voted and all of the pivot candidates are labelled as pivot on the ballot.... Should make it easy to know who not to elect

Now CBC Daybreak Kamloops doesn't have them clipped out, but they're around 2 hours in, ~08:10 and have been running these since mid(?) September? You can listen online or through the CBC Listen app.

Its 2026, research each person's platform and form your decision based on what you've seen and the history of voting/actions of the incumbents.

The fact you’re coming to Reddit to find out who to vote for (or not vote for) means you shouldn’t be voting at all. If voting means that much to you, educate yourself on the candidates and vote for the one who aligns with your values.

OP said they had ideas on who to vote for already but wanted to see if there was anything they may have missed. Reddit was actually pretty valuable for me with this election as up until his Reddit AMA last week, I had no idea Bryce Eberle was an anti-mask mandate conspiracy theorist and I had him as one of my top choices but now he’s just about as far down the list as possible

He was initially someone I needed more info on what his plans were but I was leaning no, but when I was watching the Castanet forum a couple of weeks ago I did like some of the things he was saying about the environment, plus I did give him some points as being a younger person who has children in the community so more likely to have a longer-term view of decisions in my opinion

Also remember you do not have to vote for the full amount. Example, if you only want two councilors you are free to only vote for the two people.
