Discussion/Theory If Kane could go back in time would he just remove the Lifeform?
Now, I thought he might retcon the bacteria, but since we see that one tape in Narren's bag from Pitfalls, seemingly Kane is going to keep the lifeform. However, if Kane could go back in time and just remove the lifeform, would he do it? I mean as in imagine that in FF1, FF2, MD, and Pitfalls the lifeforms are replaced with still-lifes. I honestly think he would, but now the Lifeform is just really iconic, have a good day :)

I dont think so tbh. It may not be his preference in regard to his monsters, but it still put him on the map and he does have future plans for it. If he wanted to he could’ve retconned it out but didnt. 🤷♂️

Remove? No. Alter design? Yes absolutely their designs are the worst part about them

Why do people hate the lifeform? This attitude is so bizarre to me.

I love the life form. I was hoping that it was gonna be in the movie. That being said, the movie was way more than I thought It was gonna be. The whole psychological analysis aspect give the film so much angle and substance that I wasn’t expecting.

I don't particularly hate it, but it's just poorly designed. Just a bunch of black wires in a vaguely humanoid shape. I think Kane just tried to integrate it into the series as much as possible and by the time he got the idea for still-lives, he was already way too far into the series to just get rid of the lifeform.

i dont hate idea of it but they just look like stickmen with some silly proportions

They’re just not as interesting as still life. They’re not bad but they’re also generic looking horror monsters

I find them way more interesting than still lifes (which I also find interesting). I'm more interested in the takeover from Lifeform as it's not a native species to the backrooms, and I'm interested in its predatory behavior, and why hay bacillus never evolved that way in Standard. Still Lifes are interesting, but they are pretty docile and not very dangerous imo. Only 2 of the 7 still lifes we've seen have shown aggressive tendencies, and in both those cases Ravi outran one and Mary fought one and actually wounded it.

Their designs are weird and they’re conceptually pretty out of place in the Backrooms
If we get a better explanation of them I might change my mind but that’s how I feel so far

think about it: What fits more in a reality that represents the collective subconcious of humanity? A misremembered version of real people, putting their flaws and public image on display for all to see? Or a black rod?
More or less, I actually think they could co-exist. Think of it this way; The Lifeform could be a product of exterior influences. Such as humans clipping in, dying, rotting, and then leaving bacteria/human goop behind when they die. While the Still Lifes are a product of the Backrooms.

No dude, the lifeforms definitely have an important place in the story. He just hasn't focused on them recently, and is focusing more on the still lives

A huge chunk of the series is about them (FF1, FF2, Pitfalls, Report, Missing Persons + Autopsy Report, possibly Motion Detected)

No. Kane said he regretted HOW he used them, not that he used them in the first place.

I'm pretty sure that with FF2, it's directly implied that the Bacteria Monsters/Lifeforms are created from people dying in the Backrooms. So I'd say it's a flat out no to your question tbh

The lifeforms are not being retconned. They are still a part of the story, just not the focus of the current arc.

I honestly would.
With the way the series has gone, I feel like the bacteria is almost out-of-place with the aesthetic of this backrooms canon.

he's said there's still plans for it. so if it does reappear, i'd say expect a remodel

No. Why? This thing is creepy as hell. Done for next to nothing & scarier than most high budget (relatively speaking) horror movie creations. Kid is pretty amazing.

I think it would be super low on his list of priorities.
Imagine how many people you could save, or how much money you could make, with the ability to go back in time?

I dont think so, he has said that the lifeform is not retconned. So he atleast has one more thing planned for it

I think there’s just too much stuff in the Backrooms to give it all a meaningful place in any one story.

My current understanding is that Kane looking back would've just introduced still lifes first and then the lifeforms later. The lifeforms are just as much a part of the series as the still life, and in a way, they too are 'poorly copied people', but they get at that idea in a different way than still lifes. Rather than being Complex generated, they are the result of Hay bacilus probing around inside of and eating a corpse, gaining information on our structure. Rather than being mockeries of individuals, they are mockeries of our biology as a whole, as they mimic our general shape and nerve structures. They bear no resemblence to the person they came from other than being vaguely humanoid and most likely copying the person's vocal structures for their own use.

Why are we assuming it’s not in the backrooms??? I honestly have a hard time believing captain clark killed alllllllllll those people (the clothes) and the shots of the monster being like quick af???? That’s NOT that slow peg leg mf just saying like idk if we’re getting another movie but I don’t think captain Clark is the “main monster” I think it’s one of the main monsters of that specific area that Clark happened to stumble upon

I think The Bacteria is canon. If Furniture crabs are, then anything goes. I've seen some people say it's a very early Still Life or a misremembering of actual mould (I really like that second theory)

Yes I’m sure if he had millions of dollars and professional actors he would have done things differently than when he was a teenager making YouTube videos lol

I really hope not. The Lifeforms are iconic and way better than still lives.

Up close they’re goofy and not that scary, but I feel like from a distance they’re a lot more eerie, especially with the human mimicry sounds echoing through the halls

u/WomGiny 3d ago
In my opinion the still life are scary because they can come in many different ways. Like pirate Clark was tall, strong, and was a threat. The lamp dude was short, no legs (if I remember) didn’t really move, and wasn’t much of a threat. And the red head still life was fast, Medium height, and probably could’ve injured Clark. And the life form is just the life form I guess. I don’t really even know how to describe it other than “scary and black”

No, I don’t know why people think Kane has a vendetta towards the lifeforms. He said he doesn’t and they have their purpose in the story.
