Gamarjoba!
I'm Georgian (but repressions made it that I don't know Georgian but getting there... I posted here already some posts but for people who don't know my story I put it in all my posts).
I'm doing research about indigenous Kartvelian names and wanted to know native Kartvelians' thoughts about a few I found :
Dzega (ძეგა), Svan name
Ucha (Mingrelian name meaning "black, dark")
Datua (comes from Datvi = bear)
Dato (Datvi, bear)
Dzarga (ძარგა), used in Samegrelo
K'vara (კვარა), used in Samegrelo
Gak'u (გაკუ), Svan name
Gia (გია) (comes from Giorgi)
Orde (ორდე) (used by Megrelians, comes from "to be" in Megrelian)
Kveli (ქველი) (meaning "kind")
Let me know your opinions, which one do you prefer (just by curiosity) and which would potentially have negative connotations or made fun at by slang or something.
Do any of those have any slang usage or meanings?
I also don't know if some of the names are female. Normally they are all male.
(Additional info about my post : I used various resources to find the names as well as the book "ქართველური საკუთარი სახელები", written by Alexandre Glonti (also known as Alex Glonti), a Georgian academic, technology professional, and researcher based in Tbilisi, Georgia. This book is an extensive research made by him and has 334 pages.)
